Quote from amp88 :I've been an F1 fan for over 10 years now and I've seen enough performances for the camera/crowd to recognise them. Most of the spanish 'fans' have only heard the twisted Spanish commentators' and Alonso's opinions about F1 for the last few years at most. Alonso, their hero, goes out and puts a car on 2nd on the grid and the crowd goes wild. Immediately everyone who knows anything about F1 should be saying to themself "He's light and playing to the crowd". We'll find out tomorrow, if I'm wrong then I'l happily admit it and bow at Alonso's feet, hailing him as God.

I would say the same too, but the renault even with low fuel couldn't of done that(judging from previous races), the new upgrade has obviously worked in a way.

I think Alonso is light but not as light as people would think.

Reminds me of Spain 2003.
I also think that Alonso was lighter than the others in the Q3 , anyway it's good to see if he can scare Ferrari and McLaren (also BMW) a little .

Alonso himself after the qualy told that his strategy it's not the best (I suppose from that he's low fuel). He also told that the car were understeering a lot.

Just wondering if the improvements of the Renault and the Alonso return has something in common
maybe alonso finally found his magical 0.6s
Seems quite obvious that Renault did improve the most of all teams, even if Alonso will pit earlier than everybody else. When asked why they have improved so much, Briatore said: "Because we didn't improve before."

It's definitely good to see Renault being up there, although we'll still have to wait how Alonso's strategy will work out.

I'm a little disappointed that Heidfeld is so slow. I hope he's on more fuel, but judging by what Theißen said, he's probably not. I wonder what his problem is. Kudos to Kubica, though. He seems to be the driver who has improved most over the last year.
I hope the Renault can keep up with the top 3 it will add some spice, im not a fan of alonso, but you have to hand it to the man, hes a bloody good driver.
She is low of fuel and she knows the track extremely well. That´s the clue
I hope Kubica and Massa beats him
Alfonzo's tactics -> pitting in lap 1

Go KIMI go!!
Quote from amp88 :If Alonso doesn't have at least 3 laps less fuel than Raikkonen I'll eat my hat. They're clearly playing to the crowd who are too stupid/ignorant to understand they're being fooled.

LOL, Alonso has stated himself they qualified short on gas, and that his expectations for the race is a 6th place, maybe you should know that before talking

Obviously he has tried for the pole in his homeland, and he has been very close.
Quote from spankmeyer :Your F1 broadcasts have much better graphics and overlays than what we have here in Finland. All Finnish broadcasts look like the editor torrented an old Premier yesterday.

What inlays? Is it the "updated" texts u mean.

Maybe K's weight-loss is really helping the man? I kind of feel sorry for the man, such a big sacrifice
Nice to see Kubica once again pull some good quali. I defintelty think he cold win this year.

anyone else see the hideous Honda?
Did honda take their cars on a visit to the zoo during the break, and hit some elephants... cos that nose is the WORST nose i have seen since the Walrus thing williams did.
I loved the exchange between James 'Stop The Cock!' Allen and martin Brundle, with Allen trying to be all politically correct.

I paraphrase slightly...

Allen: "Some say those Dumbo wings are ugly, but in the world of F1, if it gives you speed then it's beautiful."
Brundle: "Well they'd look a lot better if they fell off..."

And I'll eat your dinner . Yeah, I think it's just the little bit extra you get from being home, and a slashed fuel tank.
Alonso and Renault are just playing to the crowd, ashamedly.

But even so, it was a credible performance by Alonso. He was very quick in Q1 and Q2 too. Hate his attitude, but love his driving!

And sign the petition for Brundle to join the BBC commentary team next year!
Alonso has already said it a few times. His aim is to finish 6th or 7th. The car can't do any better.
