I am living with it, I dont care tbh, I just think it should be fixed if LFS is still gonna stay a good game.
Nice personal attack there,
Congratulations on braking a forum agreement, Moderator!
You seem to have somehow turned my little response on the last page into a massive agruement. All I said was it needs to be fixed by the creator of the game, After all, this is his job. Somehow you seem to think its wrong though....
That was a generalisation and you know it. There was no personal attack. If you feel otherwise contact another moderator (or better yet, just use the "report this post" feature) to vet my words.
No moderator is exempt from the rules and if the others deem that my behaviour was inappropriate then I'll happily accept the consequences. If that means I'm not suitable to be a moderator, then so be it.
The reason for the "rude words" was simply that putting it in plain english isn't working.
If you believe this is an argument then you're mistaken. There's been a relatively polite discussion.
If you feel otherwise then I apologise as thats not how I have been posting in this thread.
I've not said it's wrong. I've not typed anything that can infer it's wrong. I do not understand how you can come to that conclusion.
I agree that it needs to be fixed, and if this were a remote code execution issue then I'd be shouting louder than anyone else that it's a priority and should be immediately fixed. However, what I've been trying and failing to explain is that it's just a huge pain in the arse at the moment. But critical? The only people who it's critical to at the end of the day are the developers. They are the ones who ultimately suffer from cheats through loss of business. If they've decided how quickly or not quickly to fix the problem, then it's up to them?
It is, but when you say.. "Congratulations on pointing out the obvious?
No one said that the barricade was the perfect solution. It's better than **** all else though."
You really expect me to sit here and be spoken to like a mug? I dont think so. I posted a simple post, I get flammed.
Thats fair enough, I never wanted to argue. Just put a simple point across.
It effects people like us, because when you race in lfs, and you see constant hackers. You sit there and think, "Why do I even bother....". You know? Makes you wanna think, "**** this game".
E: This also effects me in other ways. Im making programs for lfs to make servers better. Making the game have more options. Doing little things Scawen hasnt got time to do. It makes me think, "Why...".
Listen to yourself, Sean You stated the obvious, several times now, because you're annoyed at Scawen because he hasn't plugged the hole in the timeframe that YOU decided he had to. You didn't get flamed at all. Not even remotely.
The fact that you have a very, very short fuse is an issue that you have to resolve yourself, but to subject the forum to your anger and frustration is another thing altogether. Reel it in, Sean. You know you need to. If you do post your tantrums, don't expect them to go unaddressed by moderators.
I don't actually believe you. You wanted to argue because that is your mindset, and still are doing. Reading back through what's been written, it is YOU who created this little tornado of yours.
It affects everybody's enjoyment of the game while these cheats are out there. It's obvious. But I'm not congratulating you on stating it.. god forbid you target ME for your next tirade! I don't think I could take it!
Seriously, Sean, if coding for LFS InSim makes you resentful of LFS or the community then I sincerely mean it when I say DON'T do it. I remember Ciph going off on a tantrum when not enough people thanked him for writing his code. We don't want to see repeats of that kind of behaviour. Nobody should do anything they don't want to do, and coding for LFS is best when done by people who do it for the love of the game, NOT for glory.
*sigh* getting invloved with something thats nothing to do with you, but ok.
Not because Scawen hasnt fixed it in my time frame atall, I sent Victor the hack a long time ago, After I conned a demo'er out of it.
I dont expect that, Moderators can do what they want. So far in these last few pages, I have not gone out of the boundry of the rules, So what are you gonna do now?
Not only me acutally, I cant argue with myself.
Aww, Didums...
Coding isnt making me resentful of lfs, Im doing it because I can and because I like LFS. All, Im saying is that these hackers make me want to stop. If you want me to stop, Say the word. I'll cancel all my plans now, Makes no difference to me...
Nothing to do with me, an LFS moderator, on the LFS forum? You jest, I'm sure.
You'll do what you want to do, Sean. I have no doubt about that. You're entirely responsible for the way other people perceive you. Sadly, I think you're making a lasting impression
I thought phlos did loads of things to the game and with servers he shouldn't have done? You're just argumentative, this is the second pointless argument I've seen that you just won't let go off.
I know the forum can really get on my nerves and it can, some times, get difficult to let things go but guy come on enough is enough, you're not going anywhere with this.
Fun? You weren't even here back then and you don't know what he was like or what he did. Hacking servers, stealing data, crying like a little baby, yes that's something you want to emulate, I'm sure.
It's people with the mentality of Phlos who are responsible for the hacks you're so against. You seem to be pointing the finger at the devs, when really you should turn your angst at the real culprits, the idiots who make the hacks and the idiots who use them.
The devs are the good guys in this. Phlos was and is a dick.
Sean, you do know that there was a speed hack before, probably when you sent Vctor the hack, and Scawen got rid of the exploit for the next patch. So now, someone has found another exploit and i'm sure Scawen is getting rid of it.
On the phlos subject, He did do silly things to LFS, but he does have talent, and maybe LFS has made it's security because of it?
Well, The current hack just changes memory values, I think it also replaces or stops the cheat protection code from working. (by simply replacing it will null code). It only works on Y due to everytime a new patch is released the memory values move. Trouble is, Y is compatable with Y18, So people can still use it.
Im now going to unsubscribe from this thread, Im bored of it. Its upto you what you say, Think, or do. At the end of the day, I just thought that if theres a problem. The developer should fix it. The barricades will always be usefull, I guess. Go ahead and make it, Find out.
Your perception of me, Is your own opinion, After this thread it wont be great..Maybe people dont understand that other people have personal opinions? Im not sure. All I do know is, Ive prolly made a twit of myself - Thats life.
FWIW cheat engine itself is just a fancy memory editor with various tools to help you find and manipulate parts of the memory, it won't magically do this sort of stuff by itself
This latest cheat doesn't effect my enjoyment of LFS ,seen these " not there for racing" LFS users many times and I don't give a damn about them.
We should think about what's important in LFS, now for me cheating in hot laps is waaay down the scale, I'm far more worried about empty servers and a general malaise in LFS.
