i got to agree that it was badly run, my only complaint was with the SC......i managed to rearend it when it joined the track right on a bend and i couldnt avoid it. most didnt seem to know what to do when it did join the track, and tbh i didnt see the need for it.
only other gripe was backmarkers.....and i did read the rules about them keeping to the racing line, but in some cases they would try and get onto the line when you were on it! a recipe for disaster........if you are being lapped just get the hell out of the way in my book!
my connection died before the event so i didnt make it . sorry to all!
Where's the posted qual/race results, and replay, and race stats???? It's almost like this race didn't, or perhaps shouldn't have, happened.
I don't think we need any results for this race tbh...
Why not? Did the "organizers" () just completely give up on this thing? Is this the way the typical drift events go?

Perhaps I should re-run this event myself in the coming weeks. I can guarantee you one thing, there won't be any drivers setting "60:00.00 (NEW)" PB's during the qualifying in any event that I put on.
If you're being serious about the re-run, I'd be all for it. Although I'd probably FAIL again

And If it was really bothering you, I'd stop the silly name changes

Please do, I would totally be up for it.
+1.
Count me in if anything does happen again, UF1 usually does give good racing. And if it's run with someone with a bit of experience then it should turn out good aswell.

/miss STCC UF1 server
If we have a re-run of this, I'll have time to make my Team TG skin into a proper TG skin

Is this some "racism" against drifters again?

The info of this licence also doesn't tell my whole experience of S2.
Quote from TG44 :Is this some "racism" against drifters again?

Well if you think back to the drift events that have happened recently, they've not all gone swimmingly.

IMO it's a good comparison as a few of those drift events were run by people who have either never organised an event or have little experience with LFS in general.
Quote from TG44 :Is this some "racism" against drifters again?

Racism? Completely wrong word there sonny.

Quote from LFSn00b :But Banshee, i definitely agree with you on the event, the race was as unorganised as most drift events are(no offense, but i've been in a few drift events, and most of them have never happened).

I mentioned the "drift event falling apart" because LFSn00b did. I've never seen a drift event and I got the impression, however it may be wrong, that the organizers of this race have more experienced in drifting than racing. I certainly won't get into a debate about drifting and whether drifters are good/bad. Not my area, so I won't even go there.
By the way, I am interested in seeing this event run again, but in a much more organized manner. I had a lot of fun, and I would love to present a quality race for guys like Chapman, Pickard, beefyman666, fujiwara, shiny_red_cobra, JO53PHS, and guys that actually cared about this event.

Give me a couple days, and if I can get the time and support (marshalls and SC driver), it might be a go.
Awesome stuff banshee, keep us posted if something does happen.

And if you need a hand with something, just give me a shout.
If this happened would it be on a weekend? I don't have enough time during the week for a 2 hour race
Most certainly would be on the weekend...as I am in the same boat with commitments to the League of the Americas.

Besides, I'm in the US and my weekday LFS availability is your sleepy time.
Saturday please Banshee ... and i would like to race too
Quote from banshee56 :...organizers...

There were only one organizer (As far as I know). Me and LFSn00b were only marshals (And to be honest, we had no clue what to do. The rules for marshalling was too unclear).

Only if I can get a 2048*2048 hi-res version of your avatar, my man!

No, really, it kind of depends on my personal schedule because I would want to be fully involved in managing the event. I would say (at least at this point in time) that Sundays are probably the more likely choice.....nothing solid yet though.
It would be really great if we could do this again

Similar timing to the race yesterday would be good
I could have been a better sc, but i didnt see the flipped car, as i wasnt ingame the whole time, and nobody told me in ts that there was need of it.
-.-

4) Chatting: There were people chatting all over the place...it was annoying as hell. And while I have to give it to the TG guys for "getting around the chat rule" (which, btw, AW06, is still a violation of the rules), seeing those guys change names every 30 seconds was annoying.

Sorry we annoyed you We would have stopped if someone had told us to, it was the only way we had of communicating during the race

I complaint of [TG] Hammond who was in chicane and runed to me.

I looked to my left and saw you coming (a bit late tho) so i stopped accellerating and turned to the right - straight into the tyre barriers which flicked me left into your path. Sorry

I'd love to compete again

BTW - thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday
To organize an event with SC's properly, you must have a SC driver that is watching the field for issues, but can swap to the leader at a moments notice when the race steward calls for a SC. You have to recognize where the leader is, and if he is not yet to the front straight, get out there ASAP and pick him up going into T1 or so. If he has already passed, send a message that you are exiting the pits, for the leader to slow, and allow the SC to pass. The SC has to go around past pit lane at least once to allow cars to pit under SC, and the race steward has to announce as you pass the S/F that the field will go back to green the next time around. Then the SC has to pull into the pit lane before the green is given by the steward.

We got several RCM's saying that the SC was deployed, but it was terribly unclear where the SC was, save for that one time. Communication over TS or Vent is a must for this type of race.

I decided to use RCM's to inform when SC is deployed (Even I didn't knew if I was allowed to do so. I only voluntered to marshal, nothing more. Still, big yellow message in the middle of the screen is much more self-explanatory than something in chat-box [And majority have blocked messages]). Yep. After the race was over I realized it would had been better if I would had typed another RCM saying "green flag" when SC exits the TRACK (Either to the pits or to the sands ). Instead, I only cleared the RCM-message.
