Quote from zeugnimod :I think it was a pretty obvious penalty. He got an advantage because of cutting and he just drove on.

I don't think it was an obvious one, otherwise the would have told Lewis to give the postion up. He did make the pass before the corner, but sealed it by cutting the corner...so penalty was correct imo.
Did Hamilton hit Alonso as he passed him there? Either way, desperate move on your inlap. He's falling to pieces in this race. Speaking of falling to pieces, those bits flying off the STR. Was that Vettel's car and if so were they a result of contact with Hamilton? Difficult to see contact from Hamilton's onboard but if it was then that's 3 cars he's hit today (counting Alonso), including his own teammate. What a joke.

On the penalty, Hamilton was what seemed like halfway to 3/4 of the way past Vettel on the outside of the entry to a nearly flat corner entry. Not exactly the strongest position to make the pass from. As I said before, candidate for dangerous driving IMO.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :My interpretation is if they deliberately cut the track to gain an advantage then they should get a penalty, if you watch the replay Hamilton tried to take the turn, lost the back, and had to cut slightly to avoid spinning, he was then slow out of the turn, negating any advantage he may have gained by cutting.

his advantage was ending up in front of vettel
Quote from mikey_G :his advantage ending up in front of vettel

He was already infront at the point he entered the turn, and he was infront through the whole turn. The fact is he attempted to take the turn properly, he was infront on the entry, and he didn't deliberately gain an advantage by cutting the track, and didn't gain a place by doing it. Remember Schumacher blatently cutting chicanes to defend his position a few years ago, with no penalty at all, because he was ahead on the entry.
And did Lewis hold up Massa abit?

No...when was that?
I don't think it matters really, the Ferrari's are gone. Hamilton is driving like a noob, but that penalty was extremely unfair and harsh. I was waiting for him to get annoyed and ram into the Renault.

Amp I tried to find it on youtube, I can't remember the race, but I think it was 2006, and he had to retire due to the damage to his steering he got when he hit the cars trying to overtake him. But he finished 8th because so many cars dropped out, everyone was annoyed I think because it stopped someone getting points, maybe someone on their debut race, or a lesser car, can't remember.
if lewis didnt cut the chicane, vettel would have kissed his back. Cos he just overtook Vettel and then he has to brake straight away.... i doubt vettel is has that quick reflexes :/

But apparently the pass was done because he didnt brake down enough, causing him to run wide.
If you start to allow that, then every driver will go into a corner too fast, cut the corner, and make the pass stick.

Hungary 2006? Didn't have have to retire before he would have been given the penalty?
It's borderline. They gambled keeping him out knowing being stuck behind Vettel would've been nearly as bad.

Fullstop. End of story.
rain coming according to BMW...
Good call, here it is, and no they would have given him a penalty after the race, he should of been stripped of his 8th place. Double standards by the FIA again, and a lack of consistency.

I don' think Hamilton hit Alonso. Alonso just did that jerk move on the steering wheel when he saw Hamilton was there.

The Damage to Vettels car was from Button.

Amp all you seem to want is Hamilton to be given a penalty no matter what he does.
Quote from mikey_G :That's indeed dirty, but schumacher has always been dirty and there is no reason for hamilton to sink to his level.

Well the difference is that Schumacher deliberately used that part of the track and gained an advantage doing it, Hamilton seemed to use it because he lost the back of the car, yet Schumacher got no penalty, and Hamilton did. I doubt Mclaren would of risked not letting Vettel past had the FIA said he was under investigation, or the move was dodgy, because Hamilton was fast enough to pass him again quite easily.
I've taken a few screenshots from Hungary 2006. On corner entry DLR is halfway alongside MS. MS squeezes on entry so DLR squeezes mid corner. MS can't make chicane so he cuts it then lifts off. At the next corner they're in the same situation (i.e. half way alongside on corner entry, but MS squeezes DLR again and keeps position. DLR passes MS same corner next lap and MS retires 3 laps later. This is NOT the same situation as LH because Hamilton did nothing to readdress the situation. He kept going. Plus Hamilton was trying to overtake from the outside. Hamilton's move was dangerous driving, I think he deserves a penalty for that.

raikonnen problem!

his exhaust is ****ed?
anything wrong with Raikkonens car?
How did Schumacher sort this out exactly? Oh when he retired because of the damage he got trying to ram cars that were passing him, I guess Hamilton should of crashed into Vettel to get some red paint on his car, would of been let off then.
kimis exaust is broken!
there a huge hole in his car?
Oh come off it Kimi, poor guy, he is so unlucky, the FIA can't let him continue, thats way too dangerous if it comes off. Either Ferrari will need to rip it off, or he will get a black and orange flag.
