Poll : Do you think it should be a top prioty; improving graphoics of LFS?

Yes, but I'd prefere more track/car updates first

I dont care that much about the graphics. I would rather have them working on the physics. Its more important to me that the handling feels realistic. So aslong i can see the road infront of me and what car im driving im not bothered at all. I just wanna drive
Quote from gingiba :I never really noticed a real difference between games at 300 and 30FPS. Saying 30FPS is unplayable is a bit weird considering movies run at 25FPS, and we have no problem with that. Our eyes aren't precise enough to struggle beyond 30FPS...

Movie's are made differently, I think it's called interlaced. They use motion blur to make it look smooth for movies, there's a big difference.

And actually I tested myself, with my fiance's help, using Doom 3, and I was able to detect teh frame rate up to around 50-55fps.

Why do you have to choose graphics or physics? I want both
After playing both rFactor and nKp, I've found that lFs (these are the new naming schemes for racing sims, as dictated by rFactor and iRacing) actually has good graphics. And kick-ass physics. Physics easily beats rTractor (I can do almost an entire lap of the demo track without lifting), and it's about par with nKp. Graphics wise, rTractor seems smoother, and more immersive, but it's about the same as nKp. lFs also seems to have "sharper" graphics than both others, in a good way.

If the most was made out of DX8 for now, in a not-too-distant patch, the graphics would be fine for a while. DX9/10 is really not needed to keep up with the competition. The physics could be even better though IMO, and I think that's what Scawen should focus on for now

Just my thoughts, only tried rFactor and nKp today (I also only bought the full version of rFactor, not nKp!)
I think a jump to a DX10 engine shouldn't happen, not for years, and only if LFS continues to grow and is very succesful. However, I would love some DX9 effects eventually. But right now the devs are busy making it a playable simulator, which is the right thing to do. Maybe down the road they'll hire help or simply over time add effects.

IMO lighting is the most noticable factor in games, I also think most people don't even notice it. But imagine more realistic lighting, even just object lighting, or FULL dynamic lighting!! Would make the environments and cars look amazing, with just a few tweaks to the glare of the cars.

You could use that as a fridge by the looks of things

probably trashing that set up and going for a different one. not really having any problems with it.. just, needs another upgrade. i'll probably post some other pictures of it when i get the time. it's a beeeeeeeast.

also, the water-cooling rigging has some other type of liquid in it. water; although it's something different with it or whatever (negative ion particles or something. hell if i can remember) i can't quite remember what exactly is different with it, but if any of the hoses were to leak, it won't fry everything in the case.

oh the joys of technology. one day when i get the balls tho, i'll water-seal a clear case and cool the system down with vegetable oil for gicks and shiggles.
What's the specs? If you're going to throw it out, I'd gladly pay for a business class flight for it to come over here, if the specs are reasonable

You mean the water your using is mixed with something that's non-conductive/capacative.
I'm sure the screenshots have been photoshopped.

nothing too fancy; i've seen better. those 8800gtx's are probably going to be sold for a gtx260 tho.

but.. you know, i've always wanted to go to ireland...
How are you running Tri-SLI when that motherboard only has 2 slots?
Nothing fancy? I'd be surprised if you couldn't hit the 333 FPS lock in LFS
my graphics card is bigger
The first screenie is from the new Codemasters Racedriver GRID. I found it WAY too arcade-like but man does it look good. Here's a few video captures of in game replays.

big.)
I would have liked to partecipate in this poll (tough yes, I'm a bit late ) but it's lacking the most important option for me, i.e.

Yes, but improvements in physics come first.

Things like improving the situation with tyre physics and locked diffs, or have better simulation of damage, are more important to me than bling, at the current stage
Bored, feel like posting in this thread again. I think they should finish any interiors for cars they plan on keeping around. I would >>>LOVE<<< to see extremely realistic guage clusters(don't get me wrong, I love the recent updates to them) but, is it possible to use bump mapping in the LFS engine? If so I think some could be used on the backface of the guages, in the regular and GT cars.

Honestly I'm pretty happy with the game, and while I do love graphics, and am a hardcore FPS fan, and power user, LFS is so fukin good at what it does, it really doesn't bother me. And I didn't pay much, and they're still updtating and updating....

Maybe we should be grateful LFS is a very slow process. It's a game/sim that's being produced by a very few people, with nowhere near the support of someone like Activision or Electronic Arts, and so it comes along very slowly, but.... maybe this is why the quality is so great, they're not under pressure from a producer, they can develop as they see fit. I guess I'm finally realizing what makes LFS so unique, and I think it'll get better and better and eventually be in a new engine and all that, as long as we're all still around, and Scawen and the others keep up the, what I can only imagine, extremely ridiculous hard work(plus I'm sure they have lifes, work, friends, family), it's amazing we get what we do.
