The online racing simulator
mmm this might end up better to be honest, hopefully I'll be able to adjust times of train and all that, but I don't think that would be that much of a problem....and if it is a Sunday I could try to get a ticket to the toon game on Sat.

How long do you think untill we know for sure one way or the other?
Quote :although now with the event on sunday and me being un able to figure out how to read the opening hours of avis in stansted im a bit confused as to how all this will work out

Avis Stanstead opening hours - 06:30 - 23:00

It comes up and tells you this if you select a pickup/drop-off time outwith those hours when you're going through the online booking options.
Thinking about it, Sunday could be good, we would travel up then on the Saturday, get pissed, race Sunday, get pissed again, drive home Monday
Quote from need :Avis Stanstead opening hours - 06:30 - 23:00

are you sure? when i click on the rental station details i get this

Normal Opening Hours

Morning Afternoon
Monday 06:00 - 02:00 00:00 - 00:00
Tuesday 06:00 - 02:00 00:00 - 00:00
Wednesday 06:00 - 02:00 00:00 - 00:00
Thursday 06:00 - 02:00 00:00 - 00:00
Friday 06:00 - 02:00 00:00 - 00:00
Saturday 06:30 - 23:00 00:00 - 00:00
Sunday 06:30 - 23:00 00:00 - 00:00

which doesnt make any sesne whatsoever
If the Saturday I asked them to book turns out to be out of the question, I suppose all I can do is run a poll for who could make the Sunday. The problem there is that deposits are not refundable, so if people who have paid have to drop out, it gets awkward (although an exception might be made, you never know).

Anyway, I'll post an update when I get a reply to my email.
AVis Stanstead

Select the date and time in the drop down boxes.
If you select a time outside there opening hours it tells you what they are.
Saturday and Sunday is 0630 - 2300
It doesn't matter to me whether the event takes place on the 23rd or the 24th. Worst case scenario would be that Ben would have to accommodate me for an additional 24 hours - which should be interesting.
Due to a plan to get back infront with my finances blowing up in my face I might not be able to make it to the karting. Bob I'll let you know for definate before the end of next week.I won't be too fussed about getting the deposit back so don't worry about that.

Once again sorry.
OK, crisis over, Karting North East have admitted it was their fault and have scheduled us back to the 23rd which I originally asked for, at the expense of moving other people about.

As the numbers are lower than initially expected, they have offered an alternative day plan which is well worth considering. I will make a new thread + poll and link to it from here. I'll PM everyone who's attending too, so you can't miss it.

Edit:
Mike Bingo - if you drop out, it looks like there are extra people anyway, so I can ask one of them to pay their deposit to you instead of the centre.

Update:
Poll is ready - http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=46377
The new plan would be a much better one and I'll let you know as soon as I get the chance as to wether I can make it.
Some more info on the plan for the whole day:

* People can begin to meet at a nearby pub from midday. You don't need to turn up this early, but I'd like people to be there by 1pm, if possible, so we can get to know one another a bit before going karting. I am still verifying the exact pub, but will post details of the pub once confirmed. And of course, no alcohol for those going to be racing. Spectators are free to get bladdered.

* We are to be at Karting North East for 2pm, for people to sign in, pay the other 50%, and have the safety briefing. The practise session should be kicking off half two.

* Depending on the race plan, as being discussed in the new poll thread linked to above, I expect the karting to last 2 or 3 hours.

* For the evening, those staying after the karting need to whisk themselves up the road to Newcastle for some nightlife. I'd suggest meeting in the big Wetherspoons, as a) it's big b) easy to find being next to the train station c) cheap and does a reasonable selection of food.

* As there will be at least 3 LFS'ers kipping at my place, I'm going to set up two PCs with large screens and G25s in my front room for some drunken head-to-head racing. I'm assuming there will be some interest in this. Other people are welcome to join in with this before going back to their accomodation, although it will cost you an extra taxi trip, if this is split it should be minimal (a taxi to mine is a fiver from town).

With some people not spending the night, and others driving so not drinking, I don't mind if some people only have time for some LFS before meeting at the pub, so it can be done that way round if people prefer. I'm open to suggestions on that and would like to hear your thoughts on what sounds best.
In all cases pub takes precedent over LFS. No offence Victor

LFS should be attempted completely plastered, and using yours and Victors soon to be banned account on a CTRA server... ;p
so by the looks of it the cheapest option for flights would be arriving on friday morning at around 8 and leaving on monday at roughly the same time... should give me enough time to drop off the car and hop onto the plane

any objections from becky or ben to the time schedule that automatically arises from taking those flights?
I can hopefully wing it to work at home that day and hopefully not have too much work on, we can stay at mine Friday (I have a spare room with bed) or head up that day perhaps. I live in a village so there's not much nightlife, but I have LFS, two computers, and there's plenty of opportunity for us to talk crap whilst intoxicated on alchohol - like, I dont even know your name !?

a) not that keen on big places, but thats the highlander in me, I like my isolation...but for the night I'll get through some how

b) Good, because myhotel is next to the station as well

c) Food???
Becky's suggestion sounds good. If you come up on the Friday you'd have to amuse yourselves until 6pm when I got home before unloading your gear. Assuming you're still looking to crash? Although I'll definitely be out Friday night as that's when felplacerad is landing from Sweden, so he'll entertaining.

Scott - when there's 20 people wanting to sit close to one another, a large pub is essential, especially when considering how packed everywhere is in the toon on a Saturday night.
You can of course have a liquid diet for the evening if you prefer.

I dunno I dont remember, I live in a 3 day bubble hun if it wasn't yesterday or tomorrow it's not available in my brains "This stuff might be useful" section.

I guess I should PM you me number and address and stuff, told a friend 'bout it last night and she's like "omg Becky don't do it your gonna get raped" and i'm like 'oh dont worry you dizzy tarts, if he brings a friend he's still outnumbered 1 to 2'.

I live just outside of Huntingdon, i've not checked route yet but I think it'll be 'bout 2 or 3 hours or sommit like that. I'll look it up later i'm having 1st coffee of the day right now, I dont think it's motorway though.

Anyways the offer is there along with full English breakfast, burnt by me, but i'm not bringing it to you in bed unless you turn out to be some real hot chick.

To update, the pub to meet at is The Seaton Lane Inn, which has a large outdoor garden, opens at 11:30, and serves food from midday. There's a reasonable amount of parking at the side and a couple of resedential streets a couple of minutes walk away. It's located just off the A19 and is a short drive to Karting North East.

I actually rather think it's you who should be more worried , but rest assured I wont attack unless provoked or feeling threatened.
just wait and see what happens when you serve the breakfast and i feel cornered by what the english believe qualifies as sausages
Just wait until I make you clean up the oven tray after you made me cook sausages.

Heretic !!!!

Sausages should be fried, in lard.
