The online racing simulator
It's from 2002 but City of God is a must see.

Even more startling when you realise all but one of the cast were ordinary kids picked from the street.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Just watched Wall-E, another amazing film by Pixar. Wall-E is like E.T combined with Short Circuit and made cuter and funnier, every character in the film is brilliant. I have so many favourite parts from the film I can't even list them.

Agreed though the green propaganda WAS a little too obvious.
I've watched The Gumball Rally again yesterday...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074597/

It sure is an old one, but i start to like old movies more and more... somehow they had more style, dunno.

It brings back childhood memories for me, and i always loved the characters in this movie anyway. Some nice old sportscars to be seen aswell.

Street Racers (08). It's okay, kind of lame, but it's better then the Fast and the Furious franchise where they distort racing concepts.

Hardly propaganda, its just making a story out of a topic thats being discussed a lot these days. They didn't really push it too much either, the main focus was on the love story between Eva and Wall-E.

Anything that has the word "street race(r[s])" in it automatically sucks. Nothing's as bad as the Fast and the Furious, because that is like absolute zero in terms of suckyness.

Okay, maybe propaganda was a little harsh. What I am trying to say is that it was pretty blatantly political. I know the love story was the main thing, but the political/green themes were quite a huge secondary topic. Not saying it's a bad thing, just pointing it out.

Pretty good indeed. Try this one as well if you didn't already.

Just been reading some of the user comments on that imdb page you just linked to, and wow it sounds good. Most people are saying it's almost a follow on from City of God, but even better And no, i'd never heard of it till you posted it.

Looks like it's released here in the UK on the 8th Aug, so, that definitely one i'll have to go see.

Thanks for that De Souza

No problem! I thought it was already released... Anyway don't link it with City of God, they're too different movies with different stories - they're just based on the same location. I liked Elite Squad better to be honest.
I've done a little searching and it had a couple of screenings at specialist film festivals earlier this year. But the 8th of August is the nationwide release date here in the UK.

Just checked my local "art house" cinema and it's showing for at least a week starting this Friday. So definitely going to see it.

Cannonball 1 was good...

Should also recommend this if we're talking about recent Brazilian film.

Actually, I just downloaded a bunch of movies, I thought that Wanted was really good.

I love the last line: "what the fcuk have you done lately?"; I find it very meaningful
Watched Felon last night, and was pleasently suprised at how good it was.

Well worth a watch.

The Number 23.

Normally I hate the dickhead that is Jim Carey but this is such a good dark film with him playing a serious role for once and doing well.

In Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind he also plays a serious role. And that's a seriously good movie too.

Agree'd, VERY good film, and Kate winslett is hot in it too
OMIGOD

wall-e!!!
i hate modern cinematography with a passion... especialy western... i think that it can't get any better (or even a 1% as good as) bondarchuk's war and peace... i'm 28, i have gone through rather gruesome stuff in my little insignificant life...

so consider it for what it means when i say that wall-e made it difficult for me to hold my tears. maybe because i have a silly affection for machinery... maybe because i am lonely... maybe because, hell i dunno, i have issues?

watch
the movie
wall-e.

also, million dollar baby, the notebook, silent hill...

lol?

im sorry but i can't hear such idiocy and not react!

what a load of bovine male's excrement!!!:vomit:

the idea of taking care of the enviroment... 'blatantly political' ? and you 'point it out' ? as if... we couldn't see it on our own? well, of course we could. and did. so why did you 'point it out'. certainly from your words it is not because you think it is good... and you wouldn't point it out if you thought it was meh or so and so. so you either admit that you fell in for the opposite propaganda, the one that says 'wall-e is green propaganda!' and you wanted to point it out in here, or you admit you thought it is something bad (and thus, worthy of mention).
Watched The Prestige

and Pan's Labyrinth

last night.

Both amazing movies.

....and if you want to turn ff your brain and enjoy a mindless thrill ride with a ridiculous plot and unbelievable action sequences then i have to recommend Wanted as well. Not my sort of film normally, but i got right into it!
Pans lab is a seriously freaky movie, it's like one big acid trip, that guy who was asleep with the eyes in his hands freaked the crap outta me.
Yeah apparently wall-e is really good. A friend went to see it the other day, expecting it to be crap, and found that actually it was really good.
For some reason, I just couldn't get on with the new Mummy movie..Emperors wotsit...it seems like they have taken bits from the first two, mixed in a tablespoon full of Indy Jones, added half a cup of Tomb Raider and left to rot for 6000 years..

serious crap

Same here, that's one of the best movies I have seen for a while.
Only question I'm wondering about, without posting spoilers, is if the x person died or not , if it's suposed to be happy - or a god damn sad ending. I bet the end, and it was damn emotional.

Recommend a film you've seen lately.
