The online racing simulator
celeron [email protected], 512mb unnamed ram, $30 radeon 9550se, stuck in the cheapest most plastic case i could find.

zalman fancontroller for spinning 2x120mm fans, has totally cool spaceship blue LEDs!
also a broken dvd-burner, that's actually screwed in place so it's sticking out of the case about 15cm, and i can't remember why.

dies about 2 times a day of memory corruption from overclock.

lfs at 720x576 4xaa 4xaf, ~40-60fps.

i like it

Though currently no racing for moi. I shipped my XP-M rig and my wheel home, and until I get some green I can't slap a better card in this rig, and LFSS2 runs like ass on a Radeon 7000 >.< I get 20-25FPS, 15 if it's busy
dad has been evil and to encourage me to do better in my exams he has bought a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with 2 Gb Ram and 2x 6600 GT graphics cards, the reason im annoyed is because he only plays Delta Force Land Warrior and Mechwarrior 3!
Weird way of thinking

Most people I know who got a new computer just before their exams did a lot worse than expected. If he really wants to encourage you he should have promised a new rig if your results were good
I think his dad bought the machine for himself

My parents did that for me. College was going to put me on a foundation course, which means I'd still be at college now. I wasn't happy with that idea and wasn't going to bother with college. So they said if I got on the better course (saved me one year study time) I'd get a new PC. My first AMD, and it had such a sexy case. I miss that box.

PS 2 Replica Pad, Trust 5 Button Optical High DPI Mouse.

The only game i own the now that i struggle with is BF2. Mostly CPU limited and it runs rough at full graphics because i only have 1GB ram. Solid 70+ FPS on LFS with everything on full.

Halo Solid 60Fps (capped)
CS Source - Solid 60Fps

Doom 3 on Ultra With Everything on - 20min - average 35Fps
I used to drive at my workstation (CAD), now I work at my drivestation...

ASUS K8NDL Dual Socket 940 PCI-E motherboard

470/1200 default.. does 490/2200 (edit- that is not right LOL- it does 490mhz/1.22Ghz)
going to trade up to an eVGA 7900GTX for 80 bucks..
http://www.evga.com/products/m ... -P2-N570-AX&family=22

weird ram config- but it's fast BH6 chips.. going to have to get 2x 1gig setup soon..

I'll be at 2.8ghz soon.. hopefully make it to 3Ghz.

EDIT

yup- 2.8ghz no problem... woot!

During the build....

The Past and Present:

Dell Dimension 4500
P4 1.8GHz
1024MB PC2100 RAM (2X512MB S.L.O.W....)
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 128MB, running in 4X AGP slot... (huge upgrade from mx420)
Integrated Sound! (YES!)
Momo (Black) Racing
Dell 17" 720p HDTV Digital LCD screen, running 1280x768 (16x10) 60Hz
2x aa 2x af
Equates to around 60-75 clean track fps, dips to 18 at the start against 8-15 online... playable, proudly 3rd from the bottom of the unofficial LFS Sytem MAX list!
http://lfsbench.iron.eu.org/?c=completemax

I know its not the worst system out there, i'm never happy, but it works for now!

Planning a little something for the end of the summer that will hopefully put me at the other end of the chart...
I've mentioned my computer is overkill in a few threads recently when discussing framerates, a higher framerate can directly effect your ability to control the car in LFS, overall my recent upgrade has equalled 4 seconds per lap and made me competetive. Especially at the starts when pulling away.

This is my full spec, the overclocking is desktop controlled (SLi requires reboot but I never turn it off) so i've quoted here with the fastest tested and known good overclocking settings - although i've no reason to use them in LFS atm because the games graphics aren't high enough to make this rig run below 100fps.

Dual core AMD 3.8Ghz CPU with 2x512kb (1mb) L2 cache - clocked to 2x2Ghz (4Ghz) w/ cool n quiet
2gb CAS-2 latency dual channel ram, heatsinked for overclocking.
Dual channel FSB overclocked to 880Mhz FSB
2x7800 GT SLi Graphics, overclocked to 1030Mhz
SATA-2 RAID-0 Striped hard disk array (6gb/sec transfer)
Tagan silent PSU
Fanless (heatpiped) Asus AN8 Premium SLi motherboard
Microsoft FF Sidewinder Pro Steering Wheel
Logitech G15 Keyboard (on order)

Overclocks / underclocks based upon loading for cheaper/silent operation until the fans are neaded.

Very few computers can web browse faster...

Planned upgrades:
Creative Fatal1ty Pro sound card (for when I need that 7% fps boost)
4.8 or higher dual core 1mb L2 cache CPU (when they're a little cheaper)
A bigger screen (currently 17" CRT)
my wundervoll silent sys:

3200+ Barton running almost at light speed (2200MHz)
512Mb of RAM, almost as fast
80+40GB funny but loud HDs
2 (!!!) cupholders for me and my girl, one of them can write on cds very fast (12x)!
no floppy disk drive (I prefer the hard ones)
radeon 9600pro with a silent channel-like cooler
a soundblaster card to blast some sound
a beautiful rally gt pro wheel to twist and turn (it fights back!)
a 21-inch crt which I "borrowed" at work
some keys and a funny mouse without any cables installed
last but not least very few propellers in my biiig old server case. They keep all the stuff cool but quiet.

coming soon: an x800 or whatever.

Gets my award for funniest computer description yet
well thank you sir

//me grabs the trophy and runs away
Yay necropost of DOOM!

Screen to see, wheel to turn, pedals to go slow or stop. And stickers for speed. Everything a guy needs.

Was playing GT Legends on it before the new alpha came out

Pretty messy, but I'm waiting for a new set of fans and PSU before cleaning things up...
Quote from Bergade :Because I don't actually know anything about computers and such..I won't bore anyone with a long list of "stuff," and go straight to a picture.

Heh, my mate had one of them until he got jacked on the way to uni. The funny thing about it was the day before we was joking about him getting jacked. Maybe someone over heard us XD

And my "travel" LFS rig is my new lappy Though I have to force the proc to un at full speed, or I get ~20FPS
3700+ at 3ghz
DFI lanparty
2gig OCZ ram
x850xt pe
and whatever else

lol..
OIC.. not bad.. I thought I was seeing things.

Post your "LFS" rig..
