Any "Little Big Planet" fans here?
Anyone from here hyped about LBP as i am? Looking forward to this game since the first showing, think it was on E3 2006, a pure awesome concept, 2D (2.5D) platformer with real physics in which you can create basically anything that your sick mind can think of..
The game is out by the end of October this year, exclusively for PS3.

Here's some of the best movies/trailers for those of you that don't know what i'm talking about:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39483.html (good example of how co-op is going to work)

http://www.ps3center.net/video ... p?sect=latest&idv=310 (rocket car!)

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39327.html (one of the latest official trailers)

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalo ... ctDetails.aspx?sku=270109 (gamestop trailer, laws of physics)

And there I was thinking it was going to be a new Little Big Adventure
Must confess, I had heard about it, but didn't really take any of it in, looks interesting, maybe time to dust off the PS3?

Whens it out?

#7 - Migz
Coincidentally my friend told me about this today, id never heard of it before.
He made it sound amazing, well he didnt but it came out that way in my head.
He said you can make anything at all in it out of shapes, and told me that me, him and two friends were going to be in a lobby and he'd make a giant cock for us
But then after seeing its gonna be a "2.5"D game then it doesn't seem that interesting, I'll probably still get it though. It will give me something to do instead of twiddling my thumbs waiting for home.

Edit: Acctually it looks pretty good in the video's.
I like the name of one of the characters "Sackboy" XD

Just look all the videos i posted, you will understand the hype from your friend and me..

Here's the latest, 10 minutes of pure LBP awesomeness! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JMkquV8MS0 and btw, Sackboy is the name of all the characthers, it's the new SONY mascotte

Oh how I loved Twinsen's adventure I played through it about a million times. Now that you mention it, I never played part two...
tbh this looks like one of the most boring games ive seen in a while
Quote from Shotglass :tbh this looks like one of the most boring games ive seen in a while

I love these "established" LFS members comments, with the inevitable tone "you know i'm right!"

I mean really, you can basically remake Super Mario in this game, instead of the turtlles you can put Tristan's face (via the PS eye camera, or .JPEG texture option which will come later after the release).
You can make ANYTHING you want within the 2.5D limitations, that basically means a width of say, 4 or 5 sackboys (the game charachter)...
You can play alone or up to 4 players, locally or online, you can make levels which can not be completed by yourself, etc, etc...
Just watch the video from my previous post and tell me it's boring...
I watched the video and it does in fact look boring. But then, I never was into plattformers like super mario...
Quote from Boris Lozac :I mean really, you can basically remake Super Mario in this game

why would i want to do that when the original is just fine? and you dont get the music which really is the redeming feature in the fairly average platforming that is mario

Quote :Just watch the video from my previous post and tell me it's boring...

i did and i almost fell asleep

plus it looks like the platforming is very very easy... any platformer that doesnt have at least one section that keeps you stuck for about an hour till you finally manage to get the timing right has completely missed the point of platforming

I just gave you an example of what can you do in this game...

A section where you get stuck for an hour? You obviously don't get the whole "you can create anything" part.. If your creative you can make some mind blowing puzzles, traps, whatever... why all the hate, it can't be some stupid reason like you don't own and don't intend to buy a PS3, some 360 fanboy or something like that? What are we, 12?
Quote from Boris Lozac :You obviously don't get the whole "you can create anything" part..

no i dont get level designers trying to make players do their jobs for them

Quote :why all the hate

hate? do you even know what that word means? all ive said was it looks mindblowingly boring

Quote :it can't be some stupid reason like you don't own and don't intend to buy a PS3, some 360 fanboy or something like that? What are we, 12?

ok so i dont like your favourite game and you go for ad hominem? nicely done thats at the very top of the how to make yourself look like a cock on the internet list
Can I just get one thing straight: This game hasn't been released, has it?

I haven't seen anything about this game for a year or so, it looked sort-of cute last time I saw it but that's all the opinion I could form. I don't understand how people can decide how awesome a game is before it's even been released.
Quote from Shotglass :no i dont get level designers trying to make players do their jobs for them

The game comes with 50 + pre-made levels and a campaign, no one is forcing you to create a level.... i can't help but see a reference to LFS vs "modable" games.. which completely doesn't make sense here, you have all the tools for creation that developers had...

Quote from Shotglass :ok so i dont like your favourite game and you go for ad hominem? nicely done thats at the very top of the how to make yourself look like a cock on the internet list

But honestly, to say "most boring game i've ever seen" is redicolous to say the least This is like a breath of ultra-fresh air in the pale gaming industry today...

thats the point though isnt it? its cute full stop
most of the things ive seen in those videos linked to here were happening all by themself with very little player interaction particularly the line rider one
its advertised as a game that more or less plays itself while looking very cute and funny in doing so... and if thats the best the markerting guys can come up with its going to be boring to me

remember last year when one guy on the forum claimed that crysis neednt be automatically rubbish just because all they had to show for pre release was pretty screenshots?

Quote from Boris Lozac :The game comes with 50 + pre-made levels and a campaign, no one is forcing you to create a level....

ive watched a few of the videos you lined to and in all of the inteviews the guys said something that sounded like their levels were mostly there to spark your creativity and that they know that a lot can be done with the engine but they themself couldnt be bothered

Quote :But honestly, to say "most boring game i've ever seen" is redicolous to say the least This is like a breath of ultra-fresh air in the pale gaming industry today...

whipe away all the marketing and what youre left with is a platformer with a level editor... not very fresh is it?
Quote from Shotglass :

Jeeez
That is ALMOST as saying that LFS is pathetic because the AI is bad, and lazy developers only left you the option to play online with other people, cause they couldn't be bothered to make you a good AI
50 levels man, that's alot of play time, who gives if there's 50, 200 or 10 levels, that's only there so you can see what is possible....

Quote from Shotglass :whipe away all the marketing and what youre left with is a platformer with a level editor... not very fresh is it?

It's not a level editor, it's a level CREATOR, like Gary's mod in a platformer...
Blimey, some people really crave attention on this forum don't they.

Hey, here's a thread I'm not interested in. I shall tell everyone that I'm not interested in it, and also go to great lengths to tell them why they're all wrong for being interested in it.

Oh well.

Haven't heard of this before but it looks quite cool. Advanced physics has brought a whole new element to gaming and it's good to see it being exploited in different and original ways. It could be a good laugh with a bunch of mates if you can set up proper traps for each other.
Looks Cute
Yeah, I saw this on telly a while back... I want it

Oh well.

How about:

Here's a thread that I am generally interested in and I hold an opposing point of view. I would like to express that point of view, because this is a forum and forums by their very nature are intended for discussion.

Would that be OK by you? If not, I'd recommend you avoid forums.
