When Tropic Thunder came out I went and saw it. Bloody hilarious movie with a good deal of "Vietnam" Warfare. If you want a comedy and action movie all rolled into one Tropic Thunder if the Movie to see.
Quote from nihil :Oh come on, you have to see The Transporter if only for the barely sublimated homoeroticism of the fight scene in the bus garage; the one that ends with La Statham underwater, sucking the last breath from a dying man as flames lick the surface above their entwined bodies...

I have spent the last hour or so trying to come up with a reply.......so far I haven't come close to anything in which I could actually post here without getting a swift botting in the testies from the mods.
Quote from Mackie The Staggie :Please for all that is holy in the world, that you are talking about the original version and not the second rate shoddy version starting Jason "hard as nails in an actor kinda way" Statham. Boy do I just want to smack him really hard. First the Italian Job, now Death Race next I wouldn't be surprised if he did a gangster version of Thomas the Tank Engine, with him playing the fat controller defending the small Island from bad ass French style ninja electric trains.....I really don't like him.:arge::banghead:

For anyone who hasn't seen the 1975 version of Death Race, please do. It's B-Movie cult classic at it's best.

I was talking about the "remake" (I use the term remake loosely). I loved it. I also love the original movie, a definite classic. While the new movie has just about nothing to do with the original, it was a fantastically entertaining movie. Too bad you don't like Statham, I've enjoyed most movies I've seen him in. Transporter, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Crank, Death Race... all great. Transporter 2 was pretty lame, though, and so was that farmer/medieval/wizard movie he did. Italian Job was OK as a movie.

Still.. Death Race was fantastic. I saw Tropic Thunder on Thursday. Another very entertaining movie. Great fun!

Dont think you can blame him too much for that..it was based on Dungeon Siege..a really naff RPG, and worst of all, it had the ultimate kiss of death for a movie..."Directed by Uwe Boll"
Oh man i wish there was a "Death Race" mode for LFS! :jawdrop:

[laughing] There's a homoerotic subtext to most gangster films (check out Performance : takes the gangster format and puts it through the wringer, too many ideas in some ways, but still one of my favourite films ever), but that scene in Transporter is just extraordinary.

I laughed quite hard when I saw Ray Liotta, too...
There was a kid that told me a website the other day that you could watch current movies on it. www.watch-movies.net . its pretty good website if you like to watch movues on the PC. The movies arent that clear but its a good website.
I've watched Stingray the other night...

Not an outstanding movie, but i enjoyed it somehow. Some nice car chases and a few funny bits. That's about it tho...

Wanted is quite good, a little strange and WTF'ish at points but I suppose that's expected from a comic book movie. Very engaging movie though, overall.
After a few years I just watched all three movies again: 'the cube', 'hypercube' and 'cube zero'
Speed Racer

How people get away with making such crap, is beyond me. The whole concept screamed bad before I saw it, and it didn't fail. All these unreal cars going like a 1000km/h, doing 360's, jumps and what not. Was very confusing.
I must admit, i read a bunch of good reviews on speed racer.. Lots of them said, its not like the trailer suggested.. guess what .. it is and even abit worse... those few shots in school.. were terrible xD
One for the not-to-watch list: Hamlet II

I knew it was going to be bad... but.. yea. It had some funny moments, but overall a pretty pants film.
Quote from danowat :... The Mist was actually pretty good, if a bit silly, effects were quite nice, atmosphere was quite good too, ending was a bit depressing, but overly a decent film...

Staggering experience, the woman who played the role of the religious zealot (correct word ?) played her role effin' great, I really wanted to hit her with something through the whole film :P And the ending, that was just depressing. One might say it was a happy ending from a point of view, not from the main characters tho'.

And about Speed Racer - it certainly isn't a film for masses, but I still love it (the HD version is the audiovisual orgasm)

I am sure I read somewhere, that the film ending was different (more depressing) than the book
Yeah it was too depressing.. but the whole dialogue of that movie IMHO, was rubbish.. I hated that woman.... but what is worst, i really hated her dialogue too.. and that made the movie that more unenjoyable xD and the ending was just.. Ok time to go get drunk...
Yeah, The Mist was godawful through and through.
Hot Fuzz, The Matrix Trilogy (Obvious, really xD) and the 3 Rush Hours.

All great, for thier own reasons.
Sorry for double post, watched Casino Royale, 'twas good. Watch now xD
Tropic Thunder
*BEGIN RANT

Anyone had the misfortune of seeing this (IMO) absolute dog turd of a movie. Got dragged out on Friday night by my mates, really must thank them for that, before heading out to the big city lights of Inversneckie (Inverness for anyone not aware of places north of the Border).

Anyway this has to be the worst, pee-poor, abomination of a movie ever to have been made, heck even Jason Stratham could have improved this movie as it was so ******* bad. Jack Black should never.....EVER... be seen topless, he makes me look as if I'm athletic. Robert Downing Jnr blackens up to play an actor who blackens up to play an African American (being PC today), who thought that was a good idea . Ben Stiler plays the.....well the same type of role he normally plays. Whats more I loved Steve Coogan....I'm not ashamed to admit that, but I use the past term. Every time I saw his smug face appear one the screen...I clenched my teeth, angry that he will not be known for his Alan Partridge character anymore....but that now he has officially sold his soul, and creative character to Hollywood. These however these are but a few of the culprits and there are a many cameos that equally deserve a good kicking in the shin/groin area.

However this is all my opinion and when it comes down to it, what really worries me. My mates thought this was funny as anything, and what more I've seen good reviews for this....therefore I have come to one conclusion. I have grown up too fast, and at the tender age of 24, I have turned into my old man.........that padded room sounds like a very VERY good place to be.

Tropic Thunder was near-fantastic, for most of the reasons you listed.

Does sound like a case of advanced aging. Better get that looked at.

How about them cameos?

Saw Burn After Reading earlier today. Not 100% enthused about it, but it was a good time in the theater.

Recommend a film you've seen lately.
