Those wings are fugly... Ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life...

There are no mirrors in your house? *ducks the thrown object*. OK no seriously now, what about the original Triumph TR7, that was more disgusting than this, even in its time.

Every few years I see the new F1 cars and they just look odd, then over time they grow on me. When I look back to the cars that where driven when I started watching F1 20 years ago it's those cars that now look odd.

I'm sure in time i'll get used to the new designs too, and look back on todays cars as being "so low and wierd looking now, and did they really have such wide rear wings that's so laughable!", and whoever is that years owner of the Jordan team will make a car that looks nice rather than is fast so they at least win at something, and i'll be infront of the TV as usual on race day pulling my hair out as Hamilton throws another championship into the sand trap to loose by a point, and i'll say "I'm so glad I didnt support Henman aswell".
LOL.

And I saw quite a bit of F1 cars and I think that the 2008 ones are the best and I didnt find them odd at all when I first saw them. But that small rear wing just makes F1 cars look so much less tough and so much more miserable... :S

Oh and btw, the Triumph TR7 is nicer then that fugly wing! (Maybe not the rest of the F1.09 car but the wing !)
those rear wings look like early 90s spec f1 style wings.
You can talk all you want about how bad current f1 cars look, but that is simply awful...
those things were 2m wide and much lower and slimmer in every bit so the proportions were completely different and the wings much much wider

Not really, look at the toyota in the background in the 2nd picture, idk what year it is(probably 2002) but the wing is similar width to what it is now and its much wider then the Williams.

looks like a rather extrme perspective skewing the look of those 2 wings... plus the car is 88 not early 90s

are you honestly trying to tell me that this wing:

has the same proportions as this:

To be fair it doesn't look much worse than the Williams in the background of the first photo.

Well OK it does look much, much worse, but only because the modern F1 car is so much lower and consequently wider-looking.

Edit: Looked at them again. The old-school Williams still looks kinda cool, the 2009 Williams is ****ing, ****ing ugly. It looks like the rear wing was modelled on by somebody who'd only seen an F1 car once before

and yet the older one is 11% wider
also the lenovo logo looks like its been streched with photoshop

Quote from Mustafur :Actually it was 89.

Quote from Shotglass :Nelson_Piquet_1988_Canada.jpg

Quote :and I agree its wider but its extemely similar in shape.

im sorry but are you blind? the new one is completely disproportionate to the car and itself

You were talking about the picture i provided which was 89(Renault started with Williams in 89).

Im talking about the wing alone not the car, the car is hideous

so is the wing... it looks as if its considerably taller than wide which looks completely off and makes the car even more of a minger
any sane persons reaction would be to rally for a public flogging of the fia president... until you remind them that hed enjoy it

No, no, no!

Who cares what it looks like. It's all about performance!

I would suggest something like this.

Should solve the dirty air problem.
oh crap, 2009 looks to be perfect until this cuts in.

Way too low drag coefficient - to get the proper value for an F1 car you'd need a design like this:

Plenty of room for advertising/sponsorship too - excellent!
Better racing and more money in Bernie's pocket. Excellent
At least it's good for slipstreaming

But Lewis might have issues not hitting other people - with his problem with red things
