One young nitpicker, that is.
Legally speaking a EULA in the UK is invalid if it is presented after money changes hands, hense the LFS EULA being displayed before purchase. Microsoft's EULA doesnt even muster a candle in the wind under UK law. Nor does any computer software product where the EULA is not displayed on the outside of the packaging.

Further a consumer has the right to reffer to the original EULA if the company changes the EULA at a later date and forces an "I Agree". This is because a EULA is a contract, and is protected by the same laws as any other contract.

No contract, aside from the sale of goods act, is implied when purchasing software in the UK unless specifically stated prior to purchase, software is considered a product not a service.

In America I am not aware of consumers having this legal protection, W4H's is American if I recall rightly. So he isn't pwned, he's just different that's all ;P

As for the modding thing, it's well documented that the devs dont want to see it on these forums. I'm not aware of them saying you cannot do it. It might be in the forum T&C's
can we get scawen in here?
#29 - robt
dont think he will fit through the internet cable, sorry!
As far as I understand it they don't have anything against mod'ing generally, but they don't want mod'ing to happend and this stage of development. As they have said they thinking of releasing the tools they used to create the game when they have done S3 etc etc.

So I don't think Scawen has anything against it, when time is ready. But for now he want to finish the game, and when he feels he and the others have done what they can and wants, then they let the other people try.

By obvious reasons there also are other reasons why they don't want mod'ing at this stage. It could led to new ways of cheating, or other unfortenate things regarding multiplayer.

Don't worry, I bought an intertubes expander... he'll damn fit!!!
its like someone adding stuff to a house your building that might mess something up later?
Modding an online game is the last thing you really want. Yes, some people would release some interesting mods, but just because we'd have the other 90% of "modders" creating complete crap and then ADVERTISING IT, I guess we can just yell "puuuuuhhh-leaase, no mods!". Do you really want people to try to make you play some awful mod by saying "plz come plya my bobsleihg mud guzy!!!11111eleventy"?

Besides, it would probably require some work from Scawen, which is a rare occurrence at times.
imagine all those ricers... scary.
Quote from wheel4hummer :Yes it is.

No-where do I see "Modifications are prohibited."

to Live for Speed EXE!!! can you read?!

And car mods will be REJECTED, but maker will NOT be banned!!!
Quote from Shadowww :And car mods will be REJECTED, but maker will NOT be banned!!!

Depends how insistent someone is to get it posted.

Anyway, car modding in LFS would break the business model, as allowing infinite cars in a game that only charges for content is not going to be healthy financially. Too many people will be happy with the demo and the modded cars, hence memory editors MUST have licence checking, and visual mods are banned outright.
i agree
Quote from Shadowww :to Live for Speed EXE!!! can you read?!

Of course I can read. I will re-quote it yet again:
Quote :
Any "mods" - modifications to the Live for Speed exe, must be discussed with a moderator before being released on the forum.

Any modifications to the Live for Speed exe must be discussed with a moderator before being released on the forum. But that does not mean that modifications to the Live for Speed exe are not permitted. It just means that you have to discuss with a moderator before releasing it on the forum. But you are still permitted to modify the Live for Speed exe. They are not saying that you cannot modify the exe.
And people do modify the exe, because that's not illegal. But you don't see the mods here precisely because of the arguments given above, which IS illegal. So what are you guys arguing about?
Cobra, you don't need to change EXE (LFS.exe) to make a mod.
