The online racing simulator
momo racing, i want lfs to use only the 240 degrees it has.
i have a momo racing wheel which has 240 degrees of rotation. how do i set it up so that turning the momo will result in the same degrees of rotation in LFS?

It's not possible. And if it is, then i fail.
You can't. Full lock in any of the cars always results in the in-game wheel turning the same amount. With only 240° of lock, you can either have a totally linear wheel, where (say) 1° of lock = 0.375° in game lock, or you can have it so that it's non-linear and the rate will change.

Sorry
it should be an option, at least. i consider this to be somewhat of a serious issue.
Why? The XRG has two turns lock to lock, and your wheel has 0.666... (). Neither can be changed.
ok then, next time you crash your xrg, never drive it again, because you can't do that in real life.

tristan, get a grip ...
"Wheel turn compensation:
Adjusts the turn ratio of the users wheel to the LFS car. "

actually no. i want 1 degree of rotation of my momo to result in 1 degree of rotation of the car's wheels. now, what happens if the car's wheels turn more than the respective steering wheel angle, i dunno, just lock it i guess.
That controls the non-linearity.

What is there to get a grip of? You can't change it because your wheel lock doesn't match the car's lock. As the physics (e.g. column torque) rely on the lock setting of the cars a fudge isn't possible.

Maybe getting a grip of the steering wheel may be a good starting point!
it hasn't got to do with physics. at all. i want to map the 240degrees of the momo, to the same 240 degrees of the car's wheel.

we have fudges for linearity, why not a similar one for what i am proposing?
Because the in game physics use the steering lock of the cars to calculate various forces. The linearity isn't really a fudge - the game physics remain unchanged.
Obviously you wont get the full steering of the car if you want just the 240 degrees but can you match up the steering lock setting in the setup?
Yeah you could set it up so that the car only turns 240Deg. But then you won't have full lock...
or..........buy a DFP, DFGT or G25 and set the rotation to 900°. job done.
I believe rFactor has this option, to allow the in-game wheel to turn a specific number of degrees, but the actual steering lock stays the same. When I got the game, the in-game wheel only turned 540*, but it was still mapped perfectly to my 700* (as in, it was linear). I had to edit a config file to change it to 700* in-game.

Mightn't be a bad idea for LFS, it makes it look a bit better for those with less steering lock
i think the way it is now it is not realistic. the way it is now, the virtual wheel (the game) turns significantly faster than the physical wheel (my momo). i would like to be able to turn the momo exactly as i would irl.

forces would be more accurate too.
No, because if you aren't turning the wheel in-game asmuch then you aren't going to steer as much. Why's that hard to understand. If it only moved 240deg, then that wouldn't be full lock would it??
i personally dont see the need in it :S

if your a good enough driver you shouldnt need to look at where the wheel is when turning you should feel it .

this thread is really going the wrong way.
i want to move the momo wheel in exact same way as i would in a same car. i turn it 90 degrees to the left, i want the car to steer as if i moved its wheel 90 degrees to the left, not 270! accuracy in motion is something undesirable?
But if you do that, you can't use full lock, only 240° of turn, out of 700°?

That's a physical impossibilty. Buy a DFP/G25 or quit the moaning and play like everyone else has to. Maybe even experiment using a mouse and pedals.
a physical impossibility? are you sure?
Unless Scawen includes this possibility in a patch (which is highly unlikely) then yes, it's an impossibility.
90% sure that unless you wanna re-write the game code or create a new force driver setting of some sort, I find that basically you're asking to make LFS only think the wheel in game has 270 degree of rotation to match your controller it will continute to over-compensate.
