I've just read an interview (in Hungarian language) with Kovalainen. He said he doesn't feel good at McLaren... Why? He said, Hamilton is the no.1 in the team, the attention is only on him, at the qualifications, Hamilton is _always_ on better tactics than him. His car is heavier, that's why he's not too often in the first row. Then he asked.. How should I win races then? I just can't.
Even if Lewis is considered their #1 driver, I don't think McLaren would deliberately compromise Heikki's races so much that he ends up finishing not only behind his team mate but behind all their competition too.
Exactly. McLaren want Kov at the front as much as he wants to be there himself. There's no reason for them to treat Kov differently to how Ferrari treat their "number 2", whoever it might be at that time in the season.
I think it's more of an issue of fans reading what drivers say and soaking up on all the non-race related crap and then going out of their way to defend them as if they're on the team's payroll or something.
Why would he be in the position to do so? He doesn't drive for Ferrari. He's just making a nuisance of himself, sticking his nose in where it isn't needed.
Well done
The difference being, that Hamilton is mostly critical of his own driving, his own race, and his own team. If these drivers put as much effort into their driving as they did in publicly attacking Lewis Hamilton perhaps they would have less to whine about.
Gotta agree with that. In fact, I think the only reason I even watch F1 this year is because LH is there. What boring races would we have without him.
Plus the fact that people write pages and pages on the LH subject only tells that there must be something interesting about him
Racing needs personalities. Beit good or bad. And for that I think we should all be glad LH is there atm, no matter if you like or dislike him.
(yes I'm kind of a HamFan myself for reasons stated, although i try to keep my mouth shut about it generally, except now )
And, YES, these are BBC news pages, but IMO they are about as unbiased as they come, seeing as most of the time they bash Hamilton too. The BBC are pompous Tory butt kissers...
One unexpected benefit of this thread is that those of us who like Hamilton's driving but think he's a cock can at least take comfort in knowing he's not as much of a cock as his fans are.
Seriously Oxo, if you don't win the forums funniest personality this year i'm gonna find a shotgun and personally drive down to York and blow Kevs kneecaps off for you
I think this one was more Ron Dennis' fault who tried to make a strategy on the fly to beat Alonso while he should keep the focus on fighting Räikkönen, wasn't it ?
That's more about what I find worrying.
Two other examples just come up to my mind:
Last week in Japan in the very last lap of the race, he pushed like mad locking wheels and burning tyres just to overtake Alonso before the finish line. What for ?
And also the famous 'there is a red light at the pit exit and also a car stopped on the track' but he didn't notice any of them. How come this could happen ?
Anyone can do and will do mistakes sooner or later. But crazy things ? Come on, this is not a video game...
Kev is still the only one that gets my sides splitting for no apparent reason, but I might haffto vote for them both.
Yeah Kev... I've tried that too, the swine just start to bitch and moan, and then tattle to the big twats with ban-hammers.
Yes, and then you can send us all a complimentary bottle of wine for celebrations?
It's their plan, because everything is relative... or else everything = 0. (Conservation of Energy FTW! ).
Also all you twats (and Bob!), you should be happy... I took the time to use that multi-quote option, rather than quadruple postings (as I'd have preferred).
That was because, according to martin brundle, if he is unlapped then if anybody gets a penalty or DNF etc, he can gain places. If he is a lap down, he cant.
Hamilton makes stupid mistakes, but he owns up to them at least. Massa is always complaining about the car being this and that. also he always says he had "the perfect lap" when he gets pole. I hear Lewis say he had an almost perfect lap. probably once did i hear hamilton say perfect lap.
the problem with most "fans" these days is they like to add and subtract little points so they dont get the full picture of drivers, and end up blinding themselves. tbh nobody on the grid deserves the WDC this yr. Maybe Adrian Sutil with his broke down force india? the top 6 drivers have been crap tbh, their cars did all the work. Although props to Alonso for his 2 wins. Maybe the only good driver on the grid tbh. But a complete arse off it.
Honestly, I think that Sutil should find his way into a better team. He drives his ass off in his little Force India, and always seems to fall prey to mechanical failure (or Kimi Raikonnennnen).
All I know right now is that the drivers that keep my watching F1 for now are Lewis, Kubica and Alonso. Lewis because of all the controversy about his bad driving but fast driving and his mental attitude and all that crap which makes it funny because I love how he actually fights for position, Kubica because he's so concistent and silent in the background yet he's 3rd and has a very good chance at 2nd and finally Alonso because he actually races! He doesnt just lap, he races! If you wanna pass him he WILL block you and WILL do whatever it takes to keep you behind and race you till its out of his reach. LH and Alonso are true fighters and Kubica is silent in the background but so consistent its incredible. The rest of the drivers are kinda fail imo... Sutil did show some skill every now and then and so did Heidfield and Vettel. Vettel, that guy has talent and a great future imo.
