Ok so, when I would play a crappy little game called "Maple Story", I would sometimes make videos about it.

Because of the type of game, and the people who watch it, you have to be very careful with your music choices.

So, cut a long story short, I stuck a 30 second sample of "Outro" by Breaking Benjamins at the begining, when I was talking :talktohan:

So anyway, this was probbably a year ago now. It wasn't my most watched video, probbably having less than 1500 views.

Today, I check my email before I go to sleep, to find that a '3rd party' has claimed ownwership of this 30 second clip of the song (Which I'd bought from (what was) Virgin Megastores, so they had removed my videos. I had this issue with a song in another one, however the Universal Music Group still allowed me to play it, which was very nice of them.

Why? For what reason, I wasn't making any money, getting huge amounts of views or comments, and yet they block my humble video, instead of getting rid of user "leetsexboobs69" and 'his' video for a Brittney Spears song.

So, with that out of the way, has anyone else had any Youtube policing problems? If so, do share.

I've only had 1 video removed before going live, but that was my own fault, respectively. Although, I do see a lot of embedded YT videos saying "This video has been deleted"

Cooool I use to play Maple Story like 4-5 years ago! !!! I know some people who still play it a lot though and pretty high level .

As for the youtube crap maybe the person who made the song complained to youtube instead of it being the youtube ''moderator'' crew that took it off for that music. I guess he didn't want anyone to publish his music online just like that for free... :S

Had a 133 Hero (8/16 shield :o, and 114/12 Sparta - that sucked)and a 131 Arch Mage (I/L). I/L was godly, had 13int 10m.atk gloves, 6int 8m.atk shield 3 slots etc etc.

Shame I saw the light of day and deleted my account

anyway why would they be stupid enough to delete a vid with a outro song thingy in it.. there has been music of breaking benjamin from other people on youtube for years and it has not been deleted..

I made a video that a record company wanted to infest with sponsors, obviously i had to let them, i don't even think they are legal owners to the song anyway lol

I have a rather disturbing video up which includes a certain person cutting there wrist.


Yet to be deleted..but maybe because its on private.

Ive not personally had any videos deleted from youtube as don't upload videos but I have suffered at deviantART. While policing obviously needs to take place it seems on all these sites the policing is working but there is always seemly random policing on people who don't need it. I had my vector images of cars removed on deviantART as I used a copyright image, fair cop I did, and had them removed for it but there are thousands of vecotred copyright images on it. Its that policing of websites I don't fully understand and disagree with.

You can use any copyrighted material provided it does not form a substantial part of your work, in the case of music and film it is, and supported by case history, deemed acceptable to use up to 30 seconds of a film or song without written concent, for the purpose of demonstrating that song or film.

You use such things on other people's threads, yet you expect us to not use them on yours?

As for the rant, you have to have permission from the rights owner to use the music for public display I guess, although that is rather over the top I'm afraid that is the law, regardless of wether you are an average Joe or a large corporation.

Wether you get your wrist slapped on DeviantART depends on if another member snitches on you and reports your Deviation, they don't have people to trawl through all new submissions and 'moderate' them, thats why its very 'hit and miss' on that site when it comes to being told off.

Learn something new everyday as never seen that on the site that its upto people reporting you. Oh well, fell out with them as a picture I took and vectored got removed, complained got told i could put it back up so I did for it to get removed again 2 weeks later for copyright reasons again

You need to improve your videos, one of my oldest videos had an email about using a copyrighted song, but they just added advertisements to the page and let me keep the video up. I would have been happy to remove it, it's a really old video of my PES6 goals...
