I bought a six of Anchor Steam's Liberty Ale yesterday and shall consume it over the course of the evening while watching the election results unfold.

I voted for Obama today because I'm in NC. I was going to write-in a candidate (a purely symbolic gesture of course), but it may come down to a few counties here and I couldn't live with myself if my one vote for him made the difference and caused that scumbag McCain to become president.

Good man.

I'll be picking up a few 6pks and some frozen pizzas and digging in as soon as I get home from work. Should be a long and entertaining night.
Here's hoping Obama wins and stays alive....

It's like I said to a friend earlier though, we're screwed no matter what, if Obama gets killed, Biden steps in.

If McCain gets elected, we're screwed, if he dies and Palin takes over, we're totally ****ed.

I'll start digging the bunker now then?
I think Biden would be just fine, personally.

edit: assuming he stays healthy.
Go Barry O

I don't think the world can stand four more years of "bomb them all (if they're brown) & let God sort 'em out". But if McBush & Caribou Barbie manage to Diebold this thing I'm moving to New Zealand. They won't invade New Zealand. Everybody likes New Zealand (thank gawd for Pete Jackson).
Don't forget Flight of the Conchords.

Or, wait, maybe do forget them.

Hey, FOTC rule! We (Australians) love it when people think they're Aussies

And someone should just tell Nader to **** off and stop embarrassing himself. Sure, anyone (with a fat stack of cash) can run for Pres (I'm sure people can still recall Ross Perot) but only two people have a single hope in Hell. Get real, Ralphers, and stop wasting your damn vote.
Although I think Obama is what America needs, I don't think McCain will be *completely* terrible. He's certainly no Bush. Palin however terrifies me, and if (and there's a good chance of this) John McCain dies during his term, we end up with Hockey-Mom-turned-President Palin like something out of a really bad Disney movie.
I always saw Sarah Palin as a sort of, middle aged, slightly less slutty version of Miley Virus.. I mean Cyrus. Up for teen playboy and she's in the public eye of so many impressionable young girls, no-wonder we are a society of sleezebags and sluts, anyway, enough of my ranting, that's for a different thread :o

When I lived in the USA they all thought I was from Australia too. I sound like this.

Never said he was bad

Doesn't surprise me Kezza. Remember the Simpsons episode where they go to Australia? According to that episode we sound like a cross between, I dunno, Sweeney Todd and a sodding Guy Ritchie flick Also, the episode depicts frogs as vegetarians. BZZZT - thanks for playing!

However, they were spot-on with the Mad Max bikers and giant beers. And booting people up the arse.
I had more respect for the republican campaign this time, but they have resorted back to their old tactics of personal attacks and negative adverts. They spend too much time talking about Obama rather than saying what they will do about the economy. But I still think McCain could win, after all Bush lost last time but he is still president.

Hahahaha! Nice find.

I'm relieved to say that isn't me, but I'm probably no less embarrassing when I'm pissed. On the way home from the pub last weekend I remember being all proud that I hadn't offended anybody that night. Even bumped into Neil Morrissey in the street and managed to keep my gob shut.
A good site to keep up with election coverage:

http://news.google.com/?topic=el

I've been flipping between channels every once in a while. Fox News has that treasonous war criminal POS Karl Rove on tonight as a 'political analyst'. At this rate in a couple hours they'll have Zombie Nixon in front of a camera giving his valuable insights into tonight's election.

Christ, that network is pathetic.
I'm watching the BBC's coverage, which is, as always, endearingly ramshackle. Plus it has David Dimbleby on it, who is a sweetheart. And John Simpson, who is legendary.
Pennsylvania called for Obama, Florida looking to go his way, Indiana and Virginia very competitive.

Neil Morrissey, the guy from Men Behaving Badly ? wow, does he live in York then ?. I caught a bit of his new show the other week. He and a pal are trying to open up a pub in Harrogate (i think) and make their own beer. Sounds like an ideal job for you there Kev, the resident drunken troubadour. A 21st century Jake Thackray, or Ivor Cutler

Ermm, on topic...Yeh, go Obama....or McCain...

I don't think he lives here, I've never seen him here before. My girlfriend apparently saw that show too, and postulated that it might be the reason for him being in York at the weekend. He wasn't on at either of the theatres.

I stopped drinking and performing one night when, infront of about 2-3000 people, I got all the way to the first chorus before I realised I'd misread my setlist and was playing a different song to the other 9 people on stage, who were all staring at me.

Lol, been there myself a few times. The last band i was in i was the singer and the song writer, but thanks to a chemically enhance memory i'd be buggered if i could remember any of the songs i wrote. There's a vid somewhere of a gig we did with Thrilled Skinny a few years back. I've gone blank, so start ad-libing. Then you can see the drummer look over to the bassist and mouth "What the f*ck is he doing now " Then the basist and the other guitarist standing either side of me slowly walk forward and try to work out what chords i'm playing. Both look at each other and give another then walk back and just start playing whatever the hell they like. At the end of the set you can hear someone say "Wow, free-form jazz punk, cool" We were very much ahead of our time, shite, but ahead of our time

Anyway, current standings:-
McCain 76
Obama 175

270 needed to win, looks like it's gonna be a landslide
Obama's leading in NC so far with 31% of precincts reporting. That's fantastic. A Confederate state and a conservative stronghold which hasn't gone D since 1976, for Obama to win here would represent a huge shift in national politics. Same with Virginia.
