The online racing simulator
Something weird happened to my controls lol, I closed nKP and started it up again while downloading biggie's replay. Had a look, (nice lap ), pressed 'r' by accident which put me into biggie's car. I quit the replay, went to a track day and bugger me if the thing was completely undriveable. Turn the wheel a bit = spin, brake = spin. Only 15 mins earlier I was doing full laps :S

Help!!

All car setup and controller options are as I had them when it was ok to drive too, nothing seems out-of-place.

Re activated fully working tried F2000 at Newbury

Few observations

Track - new layout much better than old layout with faster corners (old layout still selectable)

Sound - sounds really bad but better than namie/single sampling and without any dobut IMO more accurate than LFS which although sounds nice sounds absolutley nothing like a racing production 4 pot, these engines sound pretty horrid IRL so it may not be that far off with a little tweaking.

FF - Found it about right more than I usually run but felt solid at 100%

UI - Awful worse than namie laggy windows.

Unlocking - failed first try/didn't tell me why I couldn't start the bloody car for 2 hours.

Physics - Great no where near the pace but it feels like a single seater in a way that LFS has never done. Unlike LFS I didn't come out think WTF happened then? I spun 3 times and stalled twice which is a neat touch. Too early to make real judgements yet. In no way reminded me of rFactor or any other sim for that matter and certainly hard to tell this has anything to do with the namie FR.

Graphics - Despite my critism of them before I actually like it in the flesh looks far better than LFS, bit too shiny but still perfectly readable and in no way artificial like rFactor. Yellow flags are waved from the Marshalls posts (no marshalls just a waving flag, they actually only look dodgy when you look straight at them maybe LFS could take inspiration from this?

Gravel - You will not get out of it finally a sim that gets this right very happy to get stuck Dirt collects on visor/mirror/display.

Not yet crashed this car into an object unlike LFS I feel strangly fearful of crashing it maybe 2 hours trying to start it bonded me to the car

Finally a sim that gets you stuck in the gravel? What are you talking about? illepall

And I don't understand why people must say LFS is so unpredictable for slides. If you cannot feel a slide coming in LFS, you probably cannot feel hot water splashing in your eyes :tired:
Ping of 35000+ they using the same scale as LFS?
Quote from Tweaker :Finally a sim that gets you stuck in the gravel? What are you talking about? illepall

Well it'll make it more demanding not sure I like the idea of waiting for car to fix etc. but IRL you never get out of gravel so why should you in a simulation of RL?

he was a fanboy even before pro came out
AJP, But it is like you are saying you can get out of the gravel traps easily in LFS or something, which you cannot.

Both are quite the same I think. You can skim across the gravel and not get stuck at a decent speed, but if you stop you get stuck. You can still move the car slightly, but you are essentially stuck. Both games are like this, and if NkPro is so fascinating that it has this, why even bother mentioning 'finally' when other games have done this for quite some time.

Seriously, all these comments from you ajp are just taking your preference and painting them all over ours. I am tired of hearing it to be honest, because it just makes me plain sick that you still continue to try and make your discreet points for a game that is just about equal or less-equal to LFS. Or vice versa for whatever that represents. I don't see what is wrong with LFS's single seaters, they feel quite good and I think there isn't much to complain about. Or you just cannot drive for shit?

Because in LFS you can reverse out and I couldn't do this trick in nK Pro not trying to be a fanboy at all I'm still less than impressed with it because there was no manual and the MP seems awful so far.

There is no 'reverse' trick to get out of the sand traps, that is because virtually all of the sand traps you probably get stuck in are on a hill. Try this:

Goto Westhill, and slowly run straigt into the first turn's sandtrap. You cannot go anywhere in 1st, but put it in reverse and it can slowly back out. But then restart the race, and drive into that same sandtrap backwards. You cannot move in reverse, but you can certaintly go forward a bit in 1st gear! Most of the sandtraps in LFS are not 'flat'. And I think if they were completely flat, like most of the tracks are in Netkar, it would be just about the same.
not impressed so far ... cant tell which gear im in or how fast im going (whoever thought it might be a good idea to increase sales by disabling the hud in the demo is an idiot) the sound is utter crap ... im very happy i dont use headphones right now (wasnt there supposedly an option to switch to samples ? i might see myself using those cant tell how much i rev the engine either way)
the interface isnt so bad though ... sucky laggy .net but otherwise self explainatory

btw where can i see my fps ?

edit: oh yeah worst bit ... you cant alt tab
Shift+F for FPS
1:01.911 now f1600 @ newbury 2006 with default set, cmon what times have you guys got i wanna know what to aim for .
the game is seriously lacking an easier way to change the setup instead of tediously clicking +/- buttons

You are most likely right although that is not how a car should behave IRL Netkar may well do this in a gravel trap on a hill. As for the tracks in nK they really aren't imaginative at all feel like fairly boring modern tracks and seems such a waste to have a test track which has no racing potential.
Don't know what planet whoever wrote about performance on the minimum spec machine but mines no way near that:

2.8 ghz P4 - above
512 MB RAM - same
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - same (turned AA to application preference would be nice to have it but seems nK doesn't like it, and no it's not adiquate to say it doesn't really need it it bloody well does and I'm still pissed off with nK).

Could the low FPS in multiplayer be partly due to the massive pings or is it just shitty coding?
Quote from Shotglass :the game is seriously lacking an easier way to change the setup instead of tediously clicking +/- buttons

That is what I didn't like either. The setups page is like using a stupid MS Excel spreadsheet and not only does it looks poor, but its ease of use is lacking.
and why is my wheel shaking even though im on perfectly new tyres ?

anothery annoying thing ... the menus always pop up partly outside of the main window for me
Quote from biggie :It's not fast, but at least it's some laps without spinning :/ I really have no idea how fast I'm going, where it grips, where it steps out or where it shifts or not when I actually told it to. Hope it helps a little though

Anyway, goin' off to bed, gn8.

i guess 1:42 is not so fast with that car

if i could somehow get rid of the ffb vibrations i might see myself actually liking this game
Shotglass you gotta remount your tires. Goto the car setup / tires page and remount them. Stupid I know, but you gotta do it because it is so REAL!?!!?!?

Will save the nature of your tires no matter what you try. Restarting the game, you still have the old crappy tires.
I found they came after flat spotting tires (although unlike in LFS a flatspot seems to make the car totally undrivable rather too much IMO) in the pits click tires then choose mount fronts or mount rears.

Hopefully someone could make a front end that actually works, even modify the namie version to work with Pro, at least that was stable and actually gave (very slightly) less awful setup controls. This front end is a joke crashed it several times already.

i know ... i get perfectly new tyres with all temps at 25 and i still get those vibrations

oh and by the way ... as for now all i can say about nk is the same i said about rfactor ... "next please"

Did you ever have vibrationless FF?
