Gentlemen, start your engines!
Racing simulation “Live for Speed” brings motor sports to the GameStar league
Following a large scale restructuring of the famous GameStar league, the pool of games has been graced with Live for Speed for the first time. Within the season of 2008 there will be weekly broadcasts every Thursday evening, bringing high-class racing into the homes of drivers and spectators. Get the live feeling.
The 30 drivers runs at high speeds, like a giant colourful snake, through the chicane directly at the hairpin turn. Some meters before it, a driver unreeves from the nearly endless column, trying to bend around the man in front of him while slowing down. Only centimetres separate the doors of the rivals as they dash through the small curve, ending with the successful completion of the passing maneuver. Yet, the victory in the turn is answered viciously in the subsequent straight. The combatant uses the slip stream to start yet another attempt to pass his opponent. Looking back in their side mirrors they try to obtain the better position for the following curve. Will the tires last though these extraordinary expenses?
There is hustle and bustle in the pit of the driver as tires are rolled to their destined positions and percussion drills are prepared for their assignment. Everything has to go fast when the driver runs in for his last pit stop. The adversaries arrive nearly identically. The duel of the pit crews begins. The car-jack groans as fast tires are slipped on for a short sprint for the last time. Small traces of the fights are poorly eliminated. A splash of gasoline is added to the tank. Being back on track before the rivalry is the ambitious goal here. Both crews act almost synchronous and eventually the battle is taken back to the track.
The final lap has been signalled and the tension is sensible. Concentrate! This is where it counts. Don’t let yourself be thrust aside from your virtually certain ranking last-second. Every conceivable shortcoming will be utilized mercilessly. It’s an adrenalin rush until the finish line. A short gaze into the rear-view mirror. Where is the oponent? The adversary starts a surprise attack from the slip stream. The opening of the last act, the last fight for the final standings has begun. Driving at the edge has worn the rival out. Yet, there is a gap. The space is beginning to melt. Both drivers speed towards the finishing line, pushing their throttle nearly through the floor of the cars. As the checkered flag is swayed, the winning margin has dissolved to mere milliseconds. The rival has failed at the blink of an eye, unbelievably scarce.
This is no hypothetical scenario of a thrilling race for a driver of the racing simulation “Live for Speed (LFS)”. It’s almost normal – everyday life in the car racing world. These exciting races will enter the new, twelfth season of the GameStar league 2008 and reach drivers as well as spectators. From the first day, drivers have to show that they have brought their training on the courses to near perfection, because the competition is vigorous under numerous drivers who all strive to win. Not only must one know the circuits to reach the top. The right setup of the racing cars with their spoilers, air vents and activity values, reminds of the real german DTM or the british BTCC. These setups could define worthy hundredth for the participants. And if that wasn’t enough, drivers require setting up their driving style tactically if a pit-stop has to be planed. Quite often races have been decided in the pit because the pit-stop was done extremely fast or it was the exact right time. A driver that has done his homework in all this areas precisely and meticulously will have the chance for the grand price:

Drivers will race for points that will be added up in a ranking system. The top 15 drivers of both GT-A and GT-B after four races will ascend to the GSL Premier League while the remaining drivers will accumulate in the GSL First Division.
