Before you buy new ram try testing your current ram. To do this you need to get the program Memtest86+. Here is a pretty good guide on how to use it and how to interpret the results: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=409152. Hopefully that will help you test out your ram before you spend money on new ram.

I haven't tried the test patch yet. If it has been fixed then sorry for making this post. A mod can close it then.

I'm not sure if this has been posted or not but its something that should be changed. This applies to people using LHD cars only. When you press the button to look behind (default = 'R') you, the driver, turns his head to the left and then towards the back. Because of this you look at the back up the seat, the support next to the seat, and the support in the back of the car. That gives you no clear view of whats behind you. The Driver should look over his right shoulder and then back through the middle of the car (can be done by pressing look right 'E' and then look left 'W'. Since that description might be a little bit confusing I've attached pictures of how it is and how it should be. There is probably a way to do that with scripts I just don't know how to use scripts. This seems like it would be a simple change and it should be the default way looking back while using LHD should be.

I would definitely get more ram first. Try to upgrade to 512mb or 1024mb. The latter would be better. When you can save up some more money to upgrade I would get a new graphics card. The nvidia 6600GT is a good, inexpensive card. Perhaps you can find a used one. That will lower the cost significantly.

If you don't have enough money to upgrade both, you might look into overclocking your video card. Check out www.ocforums.com. They have a lot of information on that.

I'd like to buy it at a store but I can't find anystores that carry them

Is it safe to buy used wheels from ebay? I heard that the Momo and DFP have problems with their pedals after enough use. I'm afraid that if I buy a used wheel, then I'll get one that is worn out already. I'd perfer to buy new if at all possible to avoid this issue, even if it costs more.
Where to buy?

I'm looking to purchase a Logitech MOMO (black) or a Driving Force Pro. I have heard good things about both and without testing each one out, I'll be unable to decide which one to buy. So I decided that I would buy the one with the cheapest price. I moved to Germany about 1 year ago and I'm not sure where the best place to buy them is. I check online at www.amazon.de but they didn't have the momo in stock and the DFP seems to be overprice at 110 euros. Do you know of a better online store to buy from? or a regular store that will have them in stock. I check at Saturn and they don't have the MOMO, DFP, or even the G25 (which is way out of my price range ).

This is a bit off-topic, but what is the wheel diameter for the DFP and the MOMO?

Thanks for the help

I'm a beginner at LFS and I'm not sure where to start. With the different tracks, different cars, and different setups, what do you think the best starting point is? I was thinking it would make sense to start playing with the UF 1000 because it is the slowest car and probily the most forgiving. I've also played around with the FOX and the LX6 and have enjoyed racing those. I play with a mouse (I haven't bought a steering wheel yet but I plan too soon, I'll get one around Christmas time) so driving a rear-wheel drive car without having problems with oversteer is difficult for me.

I was going to go through each track with the UF 1000 learning the proper lines until my times were decent. Is the the Best way to learn this game?

Thanks for you advice

Looks pretty good. Have you considered putting the red stripe on the wing too?

The pedals do look bad in that picture but they seemed pretty good when I saw them in the store. I'm conserned mainly with how the force feedback compares to the momo and dfp. The lack of a sequenstial shifter doesn't bother me as I don't think I would use one.

Has anyone heard of this wheel www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=12933 ? I saw it at a store the other day and I was thinking of getting it because it was at a decent price, only 60 euros (the only store i've seen that has the Logitech Momo charges 150 euros for it illepall ). I've searched online for reviews of it but I can't find anything in english. Has anyone used this wheel? How does it compare to the Logitech Momo and DFP?

Thanks for your help,

Thats a cool idea. I would also like to see oil leaks take place, but I don't want it to be random. there needs to be some sort of driver error involved to cause a leak if the idea is to be implemented.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to test out some of the suggestions and hopefully they will help me out.

@Gentlefoot, I plan on buying a ffb wheel but currently I'm strapped for cash and can't afford one.
Using a mouse to steer

Hi I just purchased LFS. I have been enjoying the game using just my mouse and keyboard for controls but I find that I am having difficulty controling my car properly. I'm having most of my problems with rear wheel cars accelerating smoothly and locking my brakes while braking. This is due to the off on effect of using the mouse buttons. Do you have any tips for redusing my problem. I was thinking of lowering the strength of my brakes to lower the chance of locking up the tires when braking and also raising the gear ratio to lower the car's acceleration. I'm worried that those changes will gimp my chances at winning any races. What are your opinions on this? Also, do you have any settings that you suggust that I change to make the car easier to control and faster around the track when using a mouse.

Thanks for your help

Hi, I stumbled upon this game a few days ago and I liked the demo so much that I decided to buy the full version yesterday.
