For whatever reason in LFS now with my new graphics card (GTX 580) all interior gauges are competely gone, with no actual gauge or needle. The fake gauges in exterior views work fine. In SP it's just black and in MP it's a whitish gradient.
All my graphics settings are on pretty much maximum, running 2560x1600 on a 30 inch Dell 3007 monitor. I have absolutely no mods. On Windows 7 x64 with a Core i7 960 3.2 Ghz processor.
I've discovered the most awesome and fun thing tonight playing with my friends Karbine and v[r]oom. Get a UF1 and put the maximum intake restriction and weight ballast (so it has 24 hp, topping out at 55 mph) and drive it on tight, technical autocross layouts, preferably with jumps :P
It's so damn fun, amazingly close racing, no concern for precision or anything, lots of bumping and banging until the end. Hardly ever have to use the brakes either, just turning or downshifting will kill the speed
I think allowing setups for road cars should just be a serverside option, and the server should be able to supply a setup for all clients to use if so desired, or everyone can just be forced to use the default setup.
I just got my (bought) Fanatec 911 Turbo wheel on Friday. Absolutely no complaints so far, it works flawlessly and it's brilliant, feels much more quality than the G25. I highly recommend this wheel.
I wish FSX would install on my new computer. It either bluescreens or refuses to read the data when I put in the 2nd disc. The disc is not the problem, either.
Actually, those parked cars are literally the ONLY track objects that don't deform. EVERY other trackside object bends, breaks, bounces around, etc.
The damage in the default game is not programmed very well - the parts fly off too easily. However, I have made a damage mod which nearly entirely fixes the problems with the default damage, including making the cars crush more realistically and harshening mechanical damage. The car can die and be totally immobile without losing wheels with my mod. The visual damage is probably the best out of any racing game, with a little tweaking. Don't bring up FlatOut, that game has horrible pre-defined damage :P. You can get my mod here: http://community.codemasters.c ... m/showthread.php?t=208927
EDIT: It's odd that the wheels flew off that easily. Normally you have to be going at least 40 mph and hit a solid wall for that to happen. It is a bit buggy sometimes. Unfortunately there's no way to make the wheels harder to detach.
also, check out this video I made, it shows my damage mod pretty well (note that I've made the parts even less detach-happy since then) http://youtube.com/watch?v=cj9ZtzSFUcY
How would it be different? Turbo doesn't make that much of a difference on track and it's not hard to balance it. Would make TBO class more interesting. Karbine just forgot how extremely stubborn the community is. He apologizes.
