I'm surprised your having such a result, I thought as long as everything in sync with your head movement you'll be fine
remember whilst in motion my head is moving around (vs track cam which is fixed on wall) but the visuals are in sync same as if no motion
the only thing I can think of is there any head wobble effect in LFS which should be off? thus the visuals are adding movement not corresponding to your real head
your system should eat LFS , I use no vsync no fps cap
it's a custom setup ( professionally welded & powder coated )
-tried to post image but can't seem to do it on these forums
it gives all the movement I feel is needed (whilst being able to fit it into a house)
I feel no nausea at all , not tested without motion, I'm surprised you get nausea whilst sim racing, make sure your fps is high with no vsync - you need very low latency, turn down graphic details / no AA etc go for fps of above 150fps
I'm using a motion setup with the dk2 with extremely good results
the camera is in a fixed position on a wall
my platform pitches / rear traction loss
+seat motion on top of the platform
home setups such as mine do not make high movements! just enough to feel the onset of gforces + position indication
the dk2 movement actually adds to the motion effect
-chair moving slightly to the left to simulate ones body being moved to the side in relation to the wheel shows in the dk2 & gives good additional visual clues
something like the redbull simulator would obviously need a VR track cam mounted to the actual platform
leave hand movements etc for now
fluid virtual head movement (matching tracking) would be good
& look brill in replays
in the future I'm sure they'll be cheap/effective gloves
(hopefully the sort with the half fingers cut off) that will allow virtual hands to track actual hands ( update maybe when this becomes the norm etc)
never yet seen tearing so far but I'll give it a oh with a low fps cap to test
my PC geared up to run triple 3d (previous setup before using the rift)
i7 2600k @ 4.8ghz @ gtx Titan @ 1140mhz core
so far it's eating everything alive in the rift
as rift is single screen 2d (although each half of screen is different to deliver 3d)
a small about of resource needed for tracking I guess
p.s I get very fluid tracking too, it really is worth thinking about a CPU/gpu upgrade if the VR experience received is glitchy / lag, no using predictive either
can't remember who it was but someone was noticing black smearing a lot
mine is fine but it seems that connections may play some part
maybe his may help (from Iracing forum ) :
" I just made an interesting observation. I have 7970 video card. When I first hooked up the rift my monitor was in the HDMI port so I used a mini display adapter for the Rift. Everything seemed to work fine playing Elite Dangerous. I thought Id switch the connections to see if it would work better. I put the monitor on DVI and the Rift on HDMI. All of a sudden I have horrible black smearing and the performance seemed worse. "
also I use nvidia I don't know if it's AMD specific, could be both
"I just say to arcade racers, get into a proper driving view and stick with it a while. You will be slower at first but after some time you will get used to it and you will enjoy the sim as it was designed to be used.
But obviously that is the kind of statement that can make people react angrily! But I'm just giving my honest opinion"
I know it's suppose not to make any difference once fps gets over 75fps
(the refresh rate of the device)
but I really do see & feel the difference at figures over 100fps
I run uncapped & no vsync with excellent results
if it's easy to do a higher figure on the frame cap would be very nice
(higher than 100fps, 250fps or 300fps as a max would be great so I can find the perfect figure under that)
I've hosted no problems on my main PC but as I was also racing on this the sim car felt a tad "floaty" so I think there was some loss in physics due to the CPU having to also handle the online server aspect ( ? )
anyhow, I downloaded the server software thing, to put on my 2nd PC,
but it's just a little black window, what commands to I put in to get it to host a session ??
I looked at all the commands etc in the read me but there were no simple examples I could copy & paste to start a test server
