i recently purchased the 3months for $14 iracing offer just to see what the fuss was about, currently racing the solstice rookie @ lime rock , having to buy extra cars / tracks isnt something im going to get into just yet and really only interested in SS and british/gp tracks. 2nd race @ lime rock completed 20laps and come 2nd after some qual and practice .but the tires after 20laps didnt seem any different than after 2 laps . i drove quite attacking and tyres were screaming for 20laps..in LFS they would of punctured im sure...so what sim is most accurate @ present in simulating the tyre wear, i cant seem to find any info in game of tyre temp / wear does it exist? tia
You should already be proud of what you all have created. when its ready, its ready it would be nice if the likes of EA etc took the same approach instead of "we will release it for sale, and sort it out later" which seems very common with computer games nowadays,
hi, is the device installed correctly in device manager(right click my computer/ properties/hardware/device manager (no exclamation marks), can it been found in XP/Vista control panel/ game controllers?
Windows 7, Devices and printers?
iracing visually looks good, but i dont think its as difficult as lfs, i can seem to drive on the limit without any setup changes and not lose control half as much as lfs, what does that tell me/you???
rfactor uses the old f12001 engine? gtr1/2? tweaked? can play a bit of it, but still dont feel like im driving a car. looks ok, and plenty of mods, most of which im either not interest in, or a rubbish :-)
i do agree to an extent, i have been around lfs since the early days, when its was a 30meg download :-) , i bought the game a while ago now, and it was/still is the best £24 i have spent on a game!!! and last xmas with the annoucment of the VW i was so excited! i dont think a week has passed where i havent had a quick look at the website/forums for any annoucements.
i have read the devs comments on it and have to say i agree with them not giving to much info of what they are planning to do , for one reason i wouldnt want others copying, or getting wrong end of stick or whatever, just causes more confusion and arguments in the forums, but i can see the other side of it also, other peoples inputs / other ideas.. but its the devs "animal" and ill sit back and let them nurture it how they pleasethey havent done a bad job up till now
the_angry_angel is spot on ...............its not only the advice which joe public is given but also on what joe public believes. alot of my customers think that once they have a wireless router at home, they can surf the internet "where ever" they are :-).. also pc world will sell you a wifi dongle even if your desktop pc is a foot away from the master socket. "wireless" was /and too some extent still is a "braggin right" imo
i tho stand in the same corner as becky, i think wireless has its place,(mums laptop!!, email, internet) but relying on it for gaming is not the best option, it may be the cheapest option, and the tidest option if stapling some cable along a wall is not for you. Ethernet over power ive found to be better than wireless (tho not cheap).
Keling... same goes for lagging in a fps, a player with 200ping will appear like he is teleporting to most with under 50ping, but the player with 200ping will not see everyone else lagging, its may jump now and again...this gives the lagger a big advantage in fps, when he shoots at you, you are exactly where he is shooting, but when u shoot at him, he was there , maybe a second before, but not now!, has alot to do with netcode of course, and some games compensate for it with dodgy hitboxes, well thats the excuse!
:-)
for me the different available drivers for the pad change the triggers to buttons ????,i have the wired version.
i dont use it for lfs tho, i have a wheel but......
the redcloud drivers change the triggers to buttons and also allowed me to use both buttons at the same time(not tried in lfs tho), m$ drivers would lift one trigger when u depressed the other, which is not great! microsoft ones as i say makes them triggers/axis , im pretty sure its that way around.
it wasnt really a question :-) afaik it doesnt. not many games do, it was in reply to degats a few post b4 :-)
my own personal experience is that i lose upto 20fps using vista compared to xp, maybe driver related, but gaming under vista was slower, most things are, ive not tried for a while :-) maybe its all of a sudden better now??
could be alot of things m8, wot anti virus solution do u use? wot other processes are running, do other games work ok? does the laptop in general perform ok.
reinstall lfs if you havent done so already.
try disabling startup items (google msconfig)
disable programs that arnt needed, temporary for testing , messenger, etc etc skype, etc, disable services that arnt required or for testing purposes
he may have more frames, but wot settings is he using , both grx card related and lfs.
tried rolling back the system to when it was working ok?, knowing vista its some sort of 50% cpu hogging search gadgetythingymajig that took 30mins to auto update on startup when u really needed to get on the computer quick.
- Manual gears always >> auto gears
- Sequential > H-shift (imo)
- auto clutch exploit > all other clutch modes
- manual clutch > auto clutch
- flatshifting > lifting off (if the clutch lasts)
cheers m8, id agree with that 100%... so flatshifting, i see this alot with all types of vehicle in lfs,an advantage is def gained when doing this(i do use it in FOX), but irl is this such a case?i feel a car, say a sporty hatch, wouldnt last very long, so why is it allowed in gti's?, with no real punishment (clutch), its not possible in the FBM(not in all gears) ,im no driving expert btw, just curious? im def faster with seq gears in the GTI's, but should it be allowed? i cant use Hshifter in a FOX,FO8,BF1 so should i be allowed seq in a GTI? or am i just being petty :-)
i have been visiting the GTI server recently, mainly a SS driver....
just a quick question, why does it seem as tho drivers using auto gears/auto clutch etc have so much of and advantage over hshifting manual clutch etc, or is it more to do with the driver? i havent driven alot using fwd/hshift/clutch in lfs, normally im sequentional using single seaters and am normally on a decent pace, but gti's.... g25 user, any help would be appreciated.
yeah qually for 15mins would b one way of going about it, i would at least hope i could get a competitive lap in , but what happens if there is 45 people on the server, all of those 45 wouldnt be able to get into the race?!?!? the only thing you could do in that 15 mins, is for an automated system to auto spectate anyone who has done say 3-5 laps already, thus giving room for others to try
i was going to comment on the PB timing thing, but i now see you have disabled it could it be for the reason that its not easy to gain a PB when you cannot join the race :-)
and even if you are able to (at the end of a race) the other drivers park on the racing line (even SR drivers :-) or are generally in the way ) which again makes it difficult to obtain a decent time. i thought of the possibility of another server, identical to the one running at the moment, but without possibly even the race(just qual?), which links the times that drivers obtain to the race server and therefore the driver wouldnt have to try to get a decent time in a server with 30 others racing??
whether this is possible i dont know, and please ignore me if im talking out of me **** :-)
:-) i spotted it a few nights back :-) , lots of peeps in there, great fun
i have a question tho, is there anyway to setup a q like system for rejoining the race?
if a driver/user is in the race from the start of it, he/she crashes in turn 1 (very probable! :-) ), should he/she have first refusal on getting back into it?
as an example, i was racing the other night, i forget which track, (id never raced that track b4) and i ended up in the kitty litter :-), i tried for a while to get out, but was "spectated", nothing wrong with that.... but when i tried to get back into the race i was faced with the dreaded "race is full" :-)
so one hammers the shift+j button 1,000,000, times a sec 2 get back in.
or is that the fairest way to go about it....... you snooze you lose?
