Quote from wheel4hummer :You fail at life.

So because in my spare time I like to enjoy myself driving cars I fail at life? That comment says more about you than it does about me.

@s14 If you bothered to read on you would know it happened in a car park and I cleaned it up. I drive a motorbike myself so had this in mind. So keep your idiotic requests to yourself.

Well I think in a way lfs was harder to learn to drive than a real car. Bearing in mind I have raced and drifted cars before driving lfs. It took me a long time to be able to drive anywhere near as good as in real life. So do not think that just because you are not good straight away that lfs is wrong, it just takes time to pick up how to drive it properly and the more you get used to it the more like a real car it feels.

Quote from Daviticus :Just to comment on the "realism" of the current limiter ...

My '97 VW Jetta VR6 has a soft-limiter almost identical to LFS' at 6500revs. Also, several CA18DET-equipped Nissans I've driven have had such a limiter, albeit with a bit more POP in the pipes from running stupid-rich.

I think what most people are looking for in LFS is a forceful ignition-cut style limiter. While it's common and widely-used in the standalone-engine-management world, it's not common in standard-ECU-equipped road cars [they use a fuel-cut limiter].

Just food for thought.

The limiter you speak of in the VR6 and Nissan are similar to the lfs limiter but, they do not just stay exactly on the limit and stay there with no change in revs what so ever, no matter what the conditions. These are two cars I have tried so I know this from experience.
I know the limiter in lfs is probably the perfect limiter for a racing car but most road cars do not have this.

Well maybe the gearbox is a bad example because that is just for fun. But it's what I do to try and break a car, like driving on rough surfaces at high speeds, ramping while sideways and hitting bumps which blow the tyres off the rims, etc. you get the Idea.

Quote from Fuel Filter :Actually, it does.
It's 'Wheel Turn Compensation'. Options>Controls and under the 'Wheel Turn Degree' slider. Have had mine set to .30 since my demo days. Just like the Degree's slider, it also helps catch over or understeer; the thing I like about it is that I can catch over/understeer easily and still have precision in the middle of the wheel.

I never tried that. What I,ve been doing lately is setting the max steering lock to 55 degrees with 720 rotation, so I still have a more realistic amount of wheel turns with a realistic amount of self centering speed.

No my logic is, I like to try every thing I can in a car so I have experience of every situation, breaking the car is not always necessary but it is fun.

Lol don't worry it was in a supermarket car park and I cleaned up the 2.5L of oil I left on the tarmac.
@tristancliffe Thanks for your remark, I just do this for fun and also to see what a car can put up with. So I have experienced a car in more situations than you have which would make me a better driver than you.

Nice track, great driving in the vid. How did he get the seat and cage from the xrr into the xrt?

Yes, I was agreeing with you.

I personally would prefer a bouncing rev limiter, because that is what I am used to hearing and feeling in real life, so it would be more realistic to me.

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Cars are more similar so when it comes to using spare parts to repair damaged cars, they can use more, from other car types.

This happens often but, what usually happens is the crash repair shop finds the cheaper parts from another manufacturer and charges you for the expensive part from your own car.

Well get a 2005 modeo and a vw passat and take out the interiors of both and have a look for your self. I think the door handles and even some of the trim and carpet in the boot are the same too. It has been a while since I have worked on these but I am pretty sure they are the same car underneath. Yes the sharan is another example and there are probably more examples through the years. Anyway that is my reason for thinking fords car shapes are not very similar like other makes are.

Yes you see my point, that many european fords are actually only based on other manufacturers models. I do not remember the exact year that the mondeo was a VW, maybe 2005, but I know this from working on crashed cars where I could see behind all the panels and trim and could see the cars are the same, so experience is my source.

I've been trying to break my corolla for the past 8 months, the gear box only gave up this week. I've been ramming it through the gears with out using the clutch, forcing it into reverse while rolling forward, managing to get it into reverse three times. It makes some crunching noises. I find it very amusing to damage my cars especially when other people don't know what's going on, the look of horror on their faces. Anyway the reverse stopped working and the car would not drive forward, so I forced it to go forward and bust a piece of the gearbox casing, which then drained all the oil out of my gear box, but I still made the 40km journey home and swapped the gearbox. I did not have a chance to open the broken gearbox to see what happened yet.
I have a lot of experience with this kind of thing so I could keep rambling on about how much abuse some cars can take before breaking, that would suprise a lot of people.

I'm not saying I have tried every cars limiter but, I have tried more than the average person and I have never come across a rev limiter like the one in lfs. I have come across top speed limiters that behave like the lfs rev limiter tho, but the same cars did have different rev limiters. So the current rev limiter in lfs may not be realistic therefore it should be changed.
Has anyone here experienced a rev limiter like the lfs one?
Also the engine should not be damaged by simply revving it higher than the rpm gauge says is safe.

Quote from BlueFlame :The only thing wrong with the new GTI is the red grille trim. It's a beautiful car tho.

All car manufacters have the same front on all their cars almost.
Audi A4 is the same front as an A6, A5, Q7 and R8 almost.
Porsche (well that's pretty much explained in it's own name right there)
Mercedes? They all have the big ass grill and everything else suits teh current market climate.
BMW (kidney grilles on EVERYMODEL)
Ford are a tough one they just make random ugly pieces of crap
Vauxhall/Opel have the same fronts on ALL their cars, the only thing that changes is the width, that's pretty much IT!

I think the reason ford is different is because they use other manufacturers cars for their european models. The mondeo is a VW passat the fiesta is a mazda 121 etc.

I hope it wont be like a real VW, over weight and under powered. If it's a gti it might compete with the xf and uf otherwise it will be useless. A fictional car would have been better imo.

Tweak is not available for patch z.

I know it's an old version but it's the only tweak available, so I thought some people might still use patch V online. As far as I know you can use tweak online, if everybody uses the same settings. I was also wondering if the same works for the extra steering lock mod/hack.
Is there any drifting with extra lock on line?

Is it possible? Is there any patch V drifting with tweak on line? Just wondering as I have not seen any mention of these on here and thought it might be possible.

Well if it looks like drifting, it must be drifting . I'm a drifter and I have done what I would consider a drift in a fwd. It feels pretty much the same while doing it, but using slightly different techniques and it was fun.
Maybe in your opinion atlantian it may not be drifting, technically you may be right, but my experience tells me different.

I think FF in its own way can drift, but only on certain corners. I don't consider holding up the hand brake and ass dragging drifting though. Some of the corners in the replay were ok.

I'm drunk as I type this, wearing my lucky four leaf clover in my hat, that I stole from a leprekaun after a bar fight. So I can't complain about these Irish jokes
