1. Just drive into the pits. To do a stop you must be within the pit lines to initiate a stop. This is done automatically
2. As far as I know, there is now way of exiting a stop once initiated. However, you can turn repair damage off by pressing F12 while out on track then using cursor key to move down to repair damage, and turn it off
And you are asking me what I am talking about with comments like that
What I meant by not messing around with the CPU was. He does not NEED to change that part, to do that would require changing
the motherboard and everything else that goes with it, which is just too expensive to warrant at this stage.
Anyway, to clarify.........
firstly, the Dell dimension 4700 has 512mb of ram stock, so at $12 per 1GB, I recommended he buy 3 at that price and throw the 512 away. DUH!
secondly, the PSU you posted will not run the 8800GTS due to the lack of a 6 pin power connector needed
Please do your research (if you know how) before making such comments.
No problem, your welcome. I would not mess around with your CPU though, its not worth it.
If the video card fits in the case, the upgrades I mentioned will do you fine. If not, its a case of a whole new PC, or starting from scratch like the others are saying
Dougie, The PSU mentioned in my post is a Dell Compatible replacement for the dimension 4700
You are probably right about the 9800 gtx not fitting though, which is why I mentioned it. Was not 100% sure
I am wondering though, could a Dell system just be moved to a new/bigger case? - I know it is not an ideal situation but surely less expensive than replacing EVERYTHING
Run over the specs just to make sure and that should be a great upgrade for under $300.
Pay particular attention to the voltages etc. quoted in the minimum specs of the graphics card. And more importantly check the length of this card (9" long) to make sure it will fit into your Case, allowing enough clearance for power plugs, hard discs etc..
I just checked the power issue and it definately should work, plus this one is a little cheaper and has a HDMI port (you still need to check the physical length of your PC case!) 9800GTX with HDMI port
I posted this because if you have the stock ram installed with the dimension 4700, which is 512mb you need to upgrade that too.
If you are running Windows XP, get 3 of these Ram upgrades
If you are running Vista get 4
If you get the cheaper graphics card, this should still fall under your budget of $300
This sounds similar to what SMS does (Systems Management Server) which can view the whole resources of any PC connected to the domain the server is running on. However, SMS does require each client to have the client app installed in order to work
Could a Java app do this? - Just throwing ideas around, so excuse my ignorance in these matters
