"“Who's going to believe what I say? I’m the rookie,” said Speed."
What a total wanker... telemetry data says he overtook under yellow.
Something's very wrong with F1 these days. You win a couple of kart championships and you think you're the next F1 hero from the moment you start to play with the big guys
Seriously, in a way I understand (most?) people want full S2 now but I cannot understand the "we want this - we want that - and we want it now" tone in some of the posts here You should realise such attitude doesn't get you anywhere.
@ Falkowski83
Don't misunderstand me, I'm pro consumer rights and I do agree some (most?) license agreements are confusing and just too long to read for most people but this certainly cannot be said about the LFS agreement presented to you before paying S2. The fact that there is a check button or not doesn't really change the end-users' ability to read the agreement. In the end it's your choice whether you read it or not.
Anyway, I would say, we're all in the same boat, waiting for S2. In the end it's going to get released. Writing a 10 page thread about when the day will come is not gonna accelerate the process ;-)
I'm sorry but you make me really mad with what you post. The upsetting part of this whole thread for me is the tone of your original post. With your "we need this - we need that" attitude you think you are expressing the oppinion of all LFS drivers here. Wake up and get a grip to reality, the fact that you're getting so much replies here is not an indication that people agree with your point of view, quite the opposite I would say.
Moreover, I for one am getting so bored with this request for updates crap, reminds me of the RSC days of this forum... at time I hoped was over once and for all when the LFSforum went its own way. This thread, sadly, proves me wrong.
If that's your oppinion, I invite you to look for an officially supported SimBim forum and demand updates there... Get back to us and see how far you get.
You seem to forget the fact that end-users of LFS actually have the means of discussing stuff with the devs through these forums. Don't abuse that privilige by posting things that are not true, wasting the devs time and patience.
If you believe you haven't got what you paid for so far (full S2) you should have read the disclaimer before making the transaction.
You better believe it, happend to me 2 weeks ago 2h before a race. I started up LFS to do some practise. Things were not going to well, just mildy brushed a wall on South City in FOX> Suspension was bent a bit so I decided to restart. I left my right foot on the pedal, let go of the steeringwheel and in meantime looking for the escape key on the keyboard. The car speed up and hit went straight into a wall at quite high speed. I noticed a violent shock in the steeringwheel and from that point on force feedback was dead...
I opened the steeringwheel, turns out that the "impact" burnt a 2A fuse in the circuit for the FF engine. For the time being, I shorted it and FF works again as it should be...
In S1 you needed a certain amount of credits to unlock the faster cars. That idea - in a way a driving test as is proposed here - was abandonned in S2. The question you need to ask is, are there now relatively more wreckers or people causing problems by irresponsable behaviour than in S1?
What were the reasons for leaving out the credit requirement in the first place?
Personally I don't like the idea of driving tests for several reasons.
I've been simracing now for 4 years and I would not be happy if I had to take a new driving test every time I want to unlock a car. It's almost as like you go and apply for a new job but to get accepted, you need to do all your high-school exams all over again.
Second of all, you cannot expect people who are new to simracing to learn everything, that took other people maybe years, in a simple driving test of 5 minutes. The AI model in LFS is just not sophisticated enough atm to actually replicate real human driving behaviour. Offline tests with AI are pretty useless imho.
We all were newbies once, we all made mistakes that probably pissed off other people at the time...
There isn't really that much you can do about it I'm afraid unless you join a serious league where people are screened before they can join the competition.
The only thing that can be used to eliminate wreckers from open servers, is a system of warnings and bans.
I'm sorry my first post on the new forum is such a negative one but after seeing the replay of Aston, I got really upset.
I do understand that people new to simracing have problems controlling the cars, getting up to speed and doing consistant laps. I also understand that using a keyboard maybe an extra handicap. I too was a rookie once, we all were, we all made mistakes at one point or another...
That being said, your apology would we a rightful one if it made any sense. Unfortunately, it upset me more than your stunts on the track. Do you really expect people to believe your post after watching the replay?
How can you say you're sorry after ruining the race for several people, blaming it on your on lack of driving skills when one can clearly see in the replay you and your friend hitting eachother and others with only one intention: making as big a pile-up as possible...
Secondly, if it was truely a driversmistake, it is always nice to say "sorry" on the server itself. A simple "sorry" never killed anyone. Clearly, neither of you guys even considered doing that. In fact, you just reposition your cars skillfully in the same blocking position to create mayhem yet again. What suddenly happened to your lack of driving skill there huh?
Replying here on the forum could have been a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, you're not even admitting you were doing something wrong but instead blame the whole thing on your lack of driving skill and/or experience... that's just plain stupid.
I've had many many races with people on the track that were considerably slower than most of the drivers but they never caused a deliberate wreck fest like both of you clearly did.
It's not your driving skills that have to improved dudes, it's your attitude.
Until you realize that, go back to your own CS servers where you can be king of the hill by fragging your own team members ...
Wim
EDIT: Maybe some think this is an isolated case... in a way it is, fortunately I would say. But imo it can set a certain mood resulting in people getting kicked or banned for unjustified reasons if no action is being undertaken against the stupid behaviour shown in the posted replay.
