Whats up everyone? I’m looking to get a rig together and start playing again. Saw this after I logged in. Fun stuff. Who else has been around a while? Little over 16 years ago I downloaded the demo. Last I played was S2. It looks so much more polished now, yet familiar still. The physics and a wheel made this game such fun.

Quote from duke_toaster :I know when it's going to be released.

When the thing's ready. As I said, we don't to drive it with only one cylinder and some body panels missing do we.

that sounds fun.

I haven't been on here in a little over 4 months, nice news to see! I'm really excited that LFS is getting a real (everyday type) car. Awesome. I'll be keeping track of this ...

A rather lame edit, but it is the current car I'm modeling in 3D for a couple sims.

So there is no way I can use it myself using my own cars/setups? I hope sometime this is implemented as an option to use manually.
How do you track 0-60 times?
overclocked412

I saw this pop up for some reason on a "F1" car I believe the other day, just a small note in the bottom corner "0-60 in 3.2 seconds!". And it was gone.

How do I manually use/apply this? I like it..
Will LFS be updated again?

So it's been going on 7 months with no updates or news on the main LFS site. I guess I have nothing to complain or ask for (well..) but is the LFS series still in active development to some sort of extent?

Quote from rabidmaddog :I keep trying to use the paddle shifters in our Mercedes C230 which has no paddle shifters. It's an automatic!!!
Fortunately there is a brake pedal in the typical location.

The C55's have paddle shifters, its an automatic.
But.. thats not your car

You think thats sad, once many moons ago I said "lol" instead of laughing! I stopped myself after the o and just looked away from the person I was talking to!

I know not to LFS. But I've seen people in the edit threads like the RB4 GTR and that LX monster creation. They all used parts from LFS cars and just stretched and modified them. Where would I get the files to begin with? Are the files with the LFS Viewer unprotected? I'm just going for a visual here - not putting anything into LFS.
Merging cars together (how?)
overclocked412

Question, I've seen some edits of people merging cars together to create something new. I know you cant use them in the game, but I'd like to experiment with it (can you insert your own model too (in the 3d modeler)? or just mix and match with the LFS ones?) Can anyone direct me to where the accesible 3d mesh files are and what program particular they use? (I used Zmodeler a while back.. so I know a bit how it works). In one shot it appeared they got it into LFS Viewer too... any info appreciated

Licensed Cars - Input Appreciated

This isnt another "WhErEs ThE CiViCs yAaLL" post. I'm just interested in whats involved in attainting the license to use brand cars. Anybody know how LFS aquired the BMW car? As I found out rFactor also realeased it as a new car among their fake ones. Did LFS pay for it, or is the team wanting to get some public shining on their cars and offered it up?

Now, what about actual manufactures. Anybody know how that goes. Do they charge a continuing fee, do you pay per car? Royalties? How much do they run? Insane like 10k plus per car license? more? less? I've always wondered about that.

On a side note, I wonder how much Gran Turismo pays out. You would think a ton with the 650+ cars in their latest game. Then again, GT is extremely popular - so maybe its the other way around and manufactures dont charge much because of all the publicity the cars will get. Looking for a civilized discussion on the matter . I love the cars in LFS now of course, each has its own character. but I do feel it would be more realistic (possibly more engaging?) with a BMW, mercedes, etc logo staring back at me on the steering wheel as I swing around the track. I'm a hardcore car, racing, and simulation fan, and would love to see familiar cars in LFS. If there was a known price set for licenses for cars, I wonder if the devs would start a thread for donations torwards a actual car license or something like that. I would be willing to donate considering how much it is.

Get in contact with LFS too. You will likely get a "run around" from your bank telling you its not their fault. You may just have to do a charge back for the second one.

Yes, but that is not something I have control over. Even in the stock non modified GTI, the leg goes into the dash, you have to take that up with the creators...

New Update with better improved headlights and chrome grille.

I noticed in the screenshot the grille looks pretty pixelized, its very clear in game, both were captured from very high res textures. (Let the high res LFS revolution live on! .)

GTI Chrome Exhaust Skin

On the request of Phill, heres the GTI skin with the (updated) exhaust from the screenshots in my GTI new texture thread.
I only use 2048 textures (dont worry you dont have to know what that is) so the file is big. The only change in the attached version is the exhaust and a light grain to immitate light pearl (?) paint. Not noticeable in LFS unless you really look close. The black outline one in the red was a test I was doing - not in the attached skin.

Once downloaded, Right click save as & place in your LFS > Data > Skins ... Folder
To use, load the GTI, Make a new custom color in the left pane. In the bottom options, click colors then the XFG button to open the list of textures and choose the "Chrome" one.

New - Chrome grille and lights update - file & screenshot updated in this post

New 2 - The requested right hand drive version file can be found at post 22:
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=139623#post139623

Smoothed out the JPEG artifact crazed dash. Redid the airbag lines on the dash, new door panels from a earlier model M5. New center console stereo center, new dash logo, more prominent black outlines in the rear tailights, Charger headlights, and other minor touchups. For the hands shown on the steering wheel, see my "hands instead of gloves" thread (3 skin tones available in it)

^^ I noticed in the screenshot above the grille looks pretty pixelized, it is actually quite clear in game. Both were captured from high resolution textures.

For my exhaust tips shown in this skin - go to my other thread:
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=139053

Dash works with either digital or analog settings. And now there is a RHD version for download (see top)

Extract the .zip's and put the files in the DDS folder inside your LFS files folder under data.
