some years ago a friend sent me a link to a "live for speed"-thread at the planetquake.de board. i read a few posts, downloaded the demo (0.2 iirc, was in late autumn or winter 2002) and got addicted.
i got a new hd last week, so now that i need to be wasteful with space i will copy lfs and keep the old version for some days, so i can compare.
apart from that i haven't played for ages so i should first get back into the game.
should work fine, gprs is not the fastest internet connection available, but it's not much data going through the line when unlocking lfs. won't take you a minute i guess.
no, it wasn't mentioned before. it was discussed to death. and then, when we were done, it was discussed to hell and heaven and back, for about a hundret times. F3000 and Formula Renault or something similar.
most obvious, but in my opinion one of the worst. you could make a game where you fly over a racetrack and by adjusting cornering abilities and speed you set the lowest reachable time to time x by f1 driver y. doesn't mean it's to be realistic at all.
of course it's a theory. we don't have any facts yet.
but none of the above named games appeared in an intel-ad, did they? and if you haven't already noticed, there's a picture of a BMW F1 on the lfs.net website, with text saying WHAT THE FUNK.
and the only thing i really know about it right now is that the devs haven't put it there just for fun.
i think the online challenge of the intel racing tour will be a small flash game. but on their tour, where you can sit in a f1 chassis and drive, lfs or a modified version will be running.
