Quote from vipex123 :
Team Vires turns 3!
7th December 2013.

Today Team Vires turns three years old. A lot has happened in the last year, we have welcomed on board new friends and lost old friends. Vires to me and many others in the team is more than just a team, it's a tribe. We might not race as much as we used to because we are all busy with real life endeavours but we are still a tight knit family. There are some big plans on the horizon for Vires, mainly focused around moving into other sims. This is because while LFS is the 'home' of Sim Racing for many of the drivers in Vires, its naive to say its the same LFS that Vires was born into. It's a shame we can't celebrate this anniversary with the likes of Sean and Arco but they've made their decisions to go their separate ways from Vires.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped Vires up to this point, it does make me laugh when I remember when we first officially announced the team and the most generous of people gave us three months before we split up. Three years later, writing this post does make me feel pretty good! We've come a long way from the mid field of GT3, we've won races in almost every main championship in LFS and that to be honest makes me feel pretty good.

I would like to thank the following for the last year:

Miro Rauti
Matias Pikkarainen
Morgan Trolle
Valentin Adriaenssens
Matias Mäki-Hoimela
Jere Heiskanen
Joel Villa
Pierre Peron
Tamás Csáki
Norbert Morvai
Marek Jagiello
Nikifor Đaković
Chris Vourliotis
Elton Chong
Beniamin Kalicki
Łukasz Paszczyk
Piotrek Krzyzanowski
Adam Wisniewski
Axel Trollé
Lucas Araújo
Jack Ward

Thanks lads! And here's to another three years!

James, we know you're responsible for making us last so long!

Congrats for making such a good job for 3 years, hope we will be celebrating this for at least the next 10 years!

Quote from Intrepid :iRacing probably hires a fair few people. With that comes massive pressure. Trying to employ one person and then adhering to all the crazy regulations is mental enough, but try a whole team. A whole team which you need to pay on time every month. To get that set-up requires a massive initial investment, which if you don't make it back, you could go bankrupt. You have to respect what iRacing are doing, but it's perfectly easy to recognise that is far from working 'happily ever after'.

As developers try to create ever more complex models then the time it takes to perfect them will increase. This is just the reality.

Not to mention their denial about the bugs right after NTM was released lol

I don't think Scawen has ever had that kind of attitude...

Ofc iRacing deserves respect for what they have done already, but LFS still remains as my favourite sim.

Quote from Tim NL :Hi,
You have to put your username in the text files. Not your nickname

Yeah, I tried with both options already, still nothing.

!admins won't work too

everything else works just fine

Quote from sinanju :You'll need to make up a folder and a couple of blank text files.

Make a new folder in your /Default folder called Text_Files.

Then open this folder, and make a text file called admin1.txt, and another text file called admin2.txt.

I put my own nickname in both of these txt files.

Ok, thanks! The errors are gone but unfortunately !event still doesn't work, nothing really happens when I type that.

and when I type !auth:
You have level(s): None

9/6/2011 12:51:22 PM -> Can't open group file : ./default/./Text_Files/admin1.txt
9/6/2011 12:51:22 PM -> Can't open group file : ./default/./Text_Files/admin2.txt

can anyone help me?

Quote from Thiago Carvalho :Hi everyone,

I'm here too representing the brazilian league GridLFS (www.gridlfs.com), a oficial league by Live for Speed.

We conduct events for over three years, and unfortunately now we go through situations that are unbearable. I mean the server attacks.
I wonder if there is any way to protect our server against such attacks, it seems that the IP and PORT of INSIM servers are open to everyone, making it very easy these offenses.

We await a response, or otherwise we will have serious problems with the league and our future events, and this is certainly doing a lot of people give up competing for your simulator.
Thiago Carvalho - www.gridlfs.com.br

Just so you know, IP is "open" to everyone because when you try to join a server, even if you don't have its password, you must contact it first, so your PC will contact a server by its IP address. But having an IP address doesn't mean anything at all. In fact, if someone knows how to attack your server, getting your IP address is the easiest thing tbh.

Anyway, I don't believe there's anything you can do about it. In fact, not even PayPal could do anything when Anons attacked them (after Wikileak got taken down - google it), simply because the server would hang up after so many requests from so many different computers. And we are talking about such a big company as PayPal, so in a BR connection it would be even worse, as we all know our infrastructure sucks. Not to mention your firewall must be useless...

Quote from mill3num :When i was looking about this, i found this video, of some unoccupied person who have his life just to disturb other people enjoyment

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM1-iC_MEBg

That video is from 2007, I believe Scawen has already fixed it, so no need to bring this up and that is why shorty943 could not trace to that IP.

Btw, I'm not an expert in networks, so what I said can be wrong.

Quote from Specht :iRacing is an example, it's not perfect, but the car doesn't teleport to a new location everytime a packet is received.

Yet you get car contact (4x) or you can also take someone out even if you don't touch him, thanks to their netcode!

Quote from Mustafur :Vettel could of done anything if he had a 3 stopper and would of won, in the end that was the only reason why he was 2nd.

You don't know that.

Fact is, he did 2 stops and lost.

Anyway, shame on Mercedes having to save fuel on both cars...

Quote from NumberTwo :doesnt have to be.

when i bought my wheel i went into heavy depression trying to get a good laptime, so i took it off desk and didnt play lfs for a month. then i came back, always started first and started learning. The hardest thing was, how to keep the car under control once it starts going away from you, you just need to get that feeling into yourself. Also the braking, gas out of corners, shifting gears, the whole concept of turning with wheel, its different.

So like 2 months after i bought my first wheel i did a new pb for the first time, it was on westhill with fox and i felt for the first time that it was worth it.

so i wouldnt expect to be faster immediately, but be patient, put in some practice and it will all come your way.

Couldn't agree more.

Quote from Tomhah :Would you also blame the Toyota(???) car that let Hamilton through in the last race in F1 a few years ago for letting Hamilton through, as he was "slowing a lot, and let Hamilton pass easily", which led to Hamilton winning the champ?

Excuse me, but being overtaken while on dry tyres on a wet track is not even close to "let someone pass easily". Anyway, I got the point.

I watched the replays and saw some stupid moves, but oh well, I don't believe there is anybody who never made a mistake.

Some accidents have actually reminded me of this:

Quote from hazaky :Edit: I remember i saw one news article somewhere and there were said that if u see a logitech mouse with a pricetag of like um ... 20€ or so - then it probably took logitech 5€ to build this. Parts and building process in total.

Aren't companies supposed to make profit ...?
