Black ice
Weve heard of rain and night driving in lfs but i havent seen any suggestions for black ice ( ice you cant see untill youve crashed )

Erm....no

Oil spill yes, definitely, but black ice, nah nah

ok oil then but black ice would be a killer

Literally a killer - how does this "add" to racing?
cos if we get rain everyone will get used to that same as now but ice has no grip so it makes it more challenging
Lol, yeah .

But it would'nt really happen in real life, either the race wouldn't start or the black ice would be treated with salt or sand or something.

I guess it might work for the cruise servers, and maybe even for the rally races, but, i wouldn't hold your breath waiting for Scawen to code this.

fair enough but at least it waz a original idea
What excatly does "black ice" mean?

I'm not native english speaker so I don't know, so far I thought it's some fancy name for oil spills

Yup, that would be fun, having something that isn't often on tracks, why dont we have a giant dragon that attacks the leader? That'd be something you wouldn't get used to, and it'd be bloody challenging.

-1.

The ultimate simulation might have this, but imo this is pointless atm.

its when ice gets on the road but you cant see it untill youve either crashed or nearly crashed hence the name black ice
You mean ice that is just...well camuflaged on the road?
Is this something that happens in RL too? Picture, a movie or something? Or is it just something you thought would be good to have in LFS lol? :P

Was drving on it a few times It was a quite warm winter, there was a rain at noon and in the night temprature went lower than 0 so the Tarmac was covered with thin layer of ice. Saw the guy who forgot to switch off his handbrake and was driving with rear wheels locked
but -1 from me too, doesn't efforts of coding it IMO
I think water would be slippery enough. Sprinkles to spread some would be nice though. And of course, realistic rainbows to go with those! We need pretty rainbows...and ponies, Kev can have some pigs if he likes too.
Here's an example of black ice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfHeCQzWuQg

It just looks like an ordinary patch of wet tarmac but It's really scary when you hit it, you feel the wheel go light, loose traction and then on you're just a passenger waiting to hit something.

Also found this clip when looking for black ice, take a look This is weird

No it's not. Just a freshly ice covered lake, the noise is rather cool though and don't need a golf ball for that, ordinary rock will do d'oh. Lakes make all kind of noises during winter you couldn't believe they could.
I guess in Finland it's a regular thing, but we haven't had a lake freeze over in the UK since 1862 (not properly anyway)

Is it just the impact of the ball/rock causing a vibration through the ice producing the resonance ?

Still sounds cool though

i guess its mostly the icesheet on the entire lake acting as a membrane (bit surprised the frequency is that high)
I found this watching that Youtube clip - even funnier
Just looked at this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... ;mode=related&search= linked from the one Tristan posted.

There's a bit of time in the middle where not much happens, but stick with it !!!

{edit} Lol Shotty, she hit it 3 times !!, surely once was enough to tell her she was doing something wrong. Lol....women, don't yah just love em, we'd be lost without them chaps

please no black ice! that'd become the #1 excuse for bad driving.. "sorry i crashed into you at T1. again. but it was black ice!"
Quote from Mazz4200 :she hit it 3 times !!, surely once was enough to tell her she was doing something wrong.

i still cant figure out how she even got into that situation in the first place
she was parked on a completely empty bit of parking lot with no worries of the front scraping on another car regardless of which way you turn while reversing

Yikes! If it had been my car she'd hit I'd make it a priority to hunt her down and burn her driving licence!

I mean, what kind of scum hits a parked car 3 times and just drives away?! The mind boggles...
If that were my car she was hitting and I saw the video tape, I would hunt her down and just destroy her car, after she paid for the damages of course.
