Quote from keiran :The one thing that definitely should be at least covered in a few lessons is driving in the dark. The amount of people who have no idea how to drive with cars coming in the other direction is insane. Every night I get stuck behind someone who has to slam their brakes on every time a car is coming the other direction. Do they not realise they should look towards the verge/kerb rather than directly into the headlights of oncoming vehicles...

Driving in the Dark = Easy.

Driving in the Dark when another driver can't be bothered to move his Finger and dip his lights?! Harder (with a helmet at least). You dip your lights when you see the headlights in the distance (ie JUST before you see the car so you don't blind them) NOT when the other car is just infront of you
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :The pass plus lessons should be included as standard, wet weather driving, night driving, motorway driving. Then they need to reduce the cost of the advanced driving schools, the ones that teach you what to do when your car gets into a slide.

Just make them free, but with more training and more cash of insurance.
Quote from Riders Motion :Wow I'll feel cool now cruising my Nissan 240SX around and thinking Nathan is driving his M3.

I'll feel cool driving around on the bike (or hopefully car) that I earned the money to pay for.

Even had a police car come tearing up behind me, tailgate me in the fast lane,

Sorry, just need to correct this... there is no 'fast' or 'slow' or whatever else lane, all lanes are restricted by the same speed limit, be it 40, 50, 60 or NSL.

So many people call certain lanes slow and fast lanes.. and maybe why I get some strange looks when I cruise past 20mph faster on their left hand side because they can't be arsed to get out of the fscking middle lane doing 50mph! It's actually amusing to see truckers do it and then watch the dappy twat in the middle lane wobble about while they shit themselves

No, you get strange looks because going up the left-hand side of someone is illegal... (with a few exceptions, such as when filtering off)

True in that it's illegal, but I doubt the people sitting 3" away from the steering wheel on 2 cushions so they can see over it doing 50 gripping the wheel like they're hanging off a cliff edge with a rope have the IQ level to know that

Sometimes I can't be arsed to cross over to the inside lane and then all the way back to the outside lane just to pass a dawdler.. especially when there's nothing in front for a long way.

True. Personally I find it's more dangerous to do that anyway than to just stay in your own lane.

To quote Jeremy Clarkson: "I've always had a bit of a beef about that. If you pass someone on the inside, there was room to do that; there was room for them to have gotten out of the way in the first place!"
Sadly, sitting 30mph under the speed limit is also illegal. As is impeding the progress of other motorists. And causing an intentional blockage.

So which is the lesser of two evils? Being so unaware of your surroundings, the law and your vehicles abilities (regardless of driver abilities), or overtaking on the wrong side to keep everything flowing?

But he's right, there is no such thing as "the fast lane". If you are not overtaking you should ALWAYS be in the very left hand lane. Funny how people don't like it when I move from the left lane to the very right lane in one go, pass the car in the middle lane, and then go right back across in front of them to the left lane. Some people get the hint. Most don't even notice a car just overtook them at all.

overtaking somebody whos oblivious of his surroundings on the wrong side is generally a bad idea

It's probably just as bad an idea on the correct side!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I read the highway code, I'm sure it said that undertaking is "not advised", rather than being specifically wrong/illegal, at high speeds (but fine during slow moving traffic). Of course you could easily be pulled for dangers driving, but I suspect the whole undertaking being legal thing could relate to there being no definitions of fast or slow moving traffic.
Meh.

But the correct side means that you aren't also breaking the law... the very thing you're accusing the other person of This additionally means that if a collision were to occur, you would be far more likely to have a decision ruled in your favour in a court (for example), if you'd overtaken legally.
Quote from Nathan_French_14 :I did'nt buy it for showing off, nothing of that sort. I bought it for a few reasons, but the main ones were. 1. Price. For its condition, and the miles it has done, it was going VERY cheap. Spec was good for the price too. 2. I love the E36 M3's, especially when its a estoril blue convertible, [...]

So you use it for your work? You deliver your fancy ladies yourself?

Just kidding!
