just purchased an S2 license, but I am unable to connect to the master server to unlock LFS.

ping and tracert work just fine on master.lfs.net,
telnet does not.

I am running Windows XP SP2 and both the Windows firewall and my router firewall are turned off (not that they would block outgoing connections anyway).

any help will be much appreciated.

Also ensure that you are using a relatively recent version of LFS. Older ones will not work.

You might also want to try editing cfg.txt, and changing the Master Port setting from 29339 to 8080 (this is the other port number that the master also runs on), and seeing if that helps at all.

Are u sure u are trying your Game-password and not the Web-password? Might be a stupid question..but u never know.

Web-password is used to log in to lfs.net and this forum and the Game-pass is only used to unlock S1/S2, so make sure u have a game-password set on lfs.net and use that to unlock ingame.

I am definitely using my GAMEpassword, but I can't even connect to the server in the first place.

Try reinstalling LFS, and make sure you have Patch Y.

Sounds like you connection then, can you still go online in the demo servers, because if you can it must be something to do with your account and your better contacting the devs, just make sure your firewall is off.

If u have friends who live nearby, try hauling your pc over there and unlocking on their internet. Or try unlocking using your mobile phone.
It might be something strange with your ISP if u can reach demo-servers but can't unlock.

I'm going to take my laptop down to the office and see if it doesn't unlock there.

That will establish whether it's an ISP problem or not and if so, I will contact them.

turned out to be an ISP problem. Called them and switched to a new static public IP. Everything works fine now.

Just work for it. Its pretty easy actually, just grab a lawnmower or some things to car wash with and you are pretty much set. Also, try talking to people at school to see if you can get a job. It's not that hard to get off your seat and do something (but it probably will be hard to leave your seat once you get LFS S2 and enjoy it) so why not take some time away from your computer? I'm working for my dad at his liquor store to pay off for the computer (well part of the computer actually. He's letting me off easy if I get good grades). You're older than I am so you should have a better chance of going out and getting a job than I do.

You need to have checked if the LFS demo will connect to our master server(*) and allow for online play on your computer and location. If not, there is a very high chance you CANNOT unlock your S2 copy!
