The online racing simulator
Quote from thisnameistaken :Chris: The only problem with something like that is that the rest of us would never see you, or the other participating racers, again!

I'm taking this as meaning that you feel that if someone did make a mistake within this server an had a disagreement they wouldn't use the server again.

What you have to ask yourself Kev is are people like this worth being in the same server anyway?
Quote from thisnameistaken :Chris: The only problem with something like that is that the rest of us would never see you, or the other participating racers, again! When I had my little contretemps with the CRC the real pisser was that I never bumped into any of their guys that I used to enjoy racing against online - and in some cases I still never see them.

That's why I'd rather see some sort of admin "club" like SamH is developing, where the servers would still be public but they'd be much more efficiently admined.

Edit: Regarding the CRC: It's a shame actually that more newbies don't go and join - just for the educational value of it.

The Original CRC worked more then well and I learned there the most off LFS racing. It was great time in 0.1 and 0.2 demo racing on CRC servers.
Quote from mr grady :...

which means youd need noob servers with an admin present all the time so that new players would evn be able to gain points without getting wrecked all the time

how about auto kick/ban for driving the wrong direction and autmatically kicking after players crash with largely different speeds (although that will probably kick those who stay where they are after a spin until everbody got by safely)

Both S2 CRC Servers are public unless there is an event or event related session running. Im pleased to say that this year alone its been noticable the sheer amount of new faces turning up, applying for membership and generally having fun on clean, safe servers.

The good thing is that once some time is spent with just a small group, if they see bad behaviour, they will either report it, or try to educate those wrong-do'ers how to drive cleaner, with more respect for others or generally how to be cleaner.

Its community driven and its a great thing to see on the track.

But this thread isnt an advertisment for the CRC. As someone said, its there for those who feel its needed, and we never stop anyone from joining a race in a server when public. On the track is where all this matters.
Quote from thisnameistaken :No, I'm saying that if you had a little invite-only thing going on, that would create a little clique of racers who might rarely be seen outside of their own private servers, and that would be a shame.

Right I understand, fair point too. However unfortunatly if it gets a real big problem something like this may be the only answer. The perfect solution is league races, always has been always will be.

I understand not everyone can do that though.
I wish I knew how the hell to get in a league, I've had a look but it's not clear which ones are active and how to apply/join in... it's not very accessible to newcomers to the league scene unfortunately

either that or I'm being slow (as usual lol) in more ways than one

I'd love to join in an FXR or XFR league etc. I love driving those cars and get fed up with being taken out time and time again on public servers by people who don't even apologize or even acknowledge they've done something wrong

It's not like it's all the time but when it does happen boy does it incite angry feelings and I don't like that so I just log off and find another (nearly empty) server...

Is anyone posting in this thread part of a league? If so which one?
I am part of the UK ESL league, and am also about to start an FZ5/RAC league, you are welcome to join that, there is a forum in the leagues/events forum.

Dan,
CRC Launched a FXR League about two weeks ago, information on the website and I think there are still places left. www.cleanracersclub.org
wreckers
Fine example, Im racing in nassa 500 server and going down the strait im passing some one and he starts to push me of the track. I cant tolarate this kind of shit as im here to race clean and fair, When will others respect others on lfs,
Remember, we are talking about deliberate attempt to crash other cars. A good example happened on our servers two weeks ago. Two drivers would crash cars in turn 1 of SO Classic. Then they would park in the middle of the chicane and wait for the cars to come back around. The parked nose to tail to insure that they blocked the entire road in a place where you couldn't see them until too late.

They did this in two separate races and it was actually hard for the racers to determine that it was actually wreckers.

With the MPR evidence, we banned the two drivers. We also forwarded the MPR's to Team CCUK via their website.

I think this is the best way to deal with it. There are accidents and stupidity, but then there are blatant, deliberate attempts to disrupt races. In the obvious cases, a group of Admins can easily decide for themselves who to ban and who not to. They are our servers and we can ban who we want, but we want good evidence first.

The harder we make it for wreckers to get their rocks off, the fewer there will be. But it is like trying to kill ants, you can get a few, but there are always more to follow.

As another thought, if LFS World kept a record of how many bans a driver has received, and made that public, then there would be another method for tracking the blatant wreckers. Sure, lots of people have received unwarranted bans, and a few bans on your record probably means nothing, but if you have 10+ bans in a short time, it probably means something. LFS does not have to take action with this information, but admins can if they choose to.
HI how can I send replays to nassa admin.
Another great race night ruined by 1 person

Just had some racing, no problems. I think if you pick obscure servers like me, you're fine. Hooray for road cars and being unattractive to noobs.

Road cars at AS Grand Prix not only put off noobs, but they put off me too.

Prepares for insults. *Puts fingers in ear*

Send me a pm and I will get you an email address. We need to setup a permenant email address for this purpose.
Thanks
ok i havnt read the whole thread so if this has already been said, then sorry, damn my lazyness

but, are these wreckers actually S2 licensed or are they using cracks?

just an idea that could explain it , i dunno

Funnily enough, if you submit it at www.teamccuk.com/wreck it will get to the NASSA gentlemen that way. However, it would also get sent to the other participants in the "clean servers club", and the wrecker may have his nose bent out of a few other servers, not just NASSA's.

Entirely your shout, but it's there if you wish to use it
@gishuk, I don't think people with an S2 crack are actually able to connect to the main server at all, so I would say any S2 wrecker is simply an idiot with too much time on his hands and not a cracker.
Not to advertise myself, but when my server is up I have ZERO tolerance for wreckers. NONE. Look for "Jayhawks(tm) Server.

I know I am not the only one, either...

ah didnt realise that, ok well theres that idea out of the window

i dont see why anyone would buy a game just to drive into people the wrong way though illepall

Consequences.. or lack of. That's the key, and that's the thing we want to defeat.

Wrecking has to have consequences, and if suddenly an S2 licence is worth less than it was because the S2 wrecker can't get into any of the big and busy servers (where all the juicy victims hang out), they've been beaten.
we at ATC usually ban wreckers/wrong way drivers with a one month ban within a lpa of finding them wrecking.but they are like weeds sometime, you stamp on one and two more pop up

imo it is beginning to get beyond a joke.

If you'd like adding to our list of server admins to receive information about wreckers on other servers, please PM me an email address. Then any wrecker reports that are received in future will be sent to you too

[EDIT] to add..
IF ANY SERVER ADMINS WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEAN SERVERS CLUB, PLEASE PM ME AND CRAZYICE.

[EDIT] Again, to add that CrazyICE is also working on a system he's dubbed "Anti-Crash Association". I'd like to work with CrazyICE if possible to establish the fairest and most responsible path forwards. I haven't yet spoken with him, but I know the motives driving his project are the same as mine, and his coding skills and understanding of the way LFS servers function is exceptional.
Quote from Bob Smith :and being unattractive

oh man dont be so hard on yourself
Hi

Good to see the 'lets get it together' invite SamH.

Hopefully it will fruit.

If it boils down to identical ideals, but disimilar approaches, then maybe the collection part of the system can be run by the Clean Servers Club. A community of Server Admins who operate 'Clean Servers', meaning all bans and poor behaviour WILL be reported, it will also promote Clean Driving and insist on Clean Racing at all times and encourage newbies to both learn and skill themselves up. All bans being them one day, instant, or longer term considered-after-review-type bans, will be past onto the the next part of the system.

The banning implimentation can then be taken up by the Anti-Crash Association who will both review the shared banned lists and search out persistent offenders and deliberate wreckers, these will then be put forward to the developers for licence review under the licence contract we agreed when we paid for the S2.

This will give equal enforcement to the two similar but different wrecking that goes on, the newby over keen novice type or inconsiderate driver type wrecking, and also give solid community gathered weight against those deliberate persistent wreckers to encourage the developers to enforce server wide licence bans.

Only once licenses have been agreed to be enforable by the Devs, will they start to really do something positive for the dedicated 'Fordmans' in our community and make use of the defunct points system concept and work towards super-licenses.

IMHO

I agree if the server community was together on this, the devs would have no need to act, but it would be nice to know, and they do, listen to the community and would act to revoke if the community asked for it.

It is only complicated to write in few words, as basically it means an automated collection system servers subscribe/agree to, and then an overview consideration of the collected shared data, to see if there are persistent offenders that need singling out and manually adding. Not all server admins need to be a part of the overview, thats all.

This ties in with the automated collection and ease of use point of view, as well as the reserved proceed with caution on global bans activation point of view.
