Well, maybe windows isn't that bad at all...

What do you think about this solution:

4 cars should be added, where only some rudimental things can be changed in the setup like what was already mentioned in this thread.

1 slow car, 1 fast street car, 1 racing car and one fun car.
(like XFG, UFR, FXR and MRT)

AA and AF should not lower your FPS with a X800 Graphic Card.

I have a 3000+ AMD, 1 Gig Ram, Ati X800Pro. I played without AA and AF because i didn't want to change it all the time for other games. But as I recognized that I don't play anything else than LfS I set AA to 4x and AF to 8x. The FPS didn't change. FPS are still at 60-70 when racing with 20 other cars.

AA and AF is a graphic-card feature and doesn't need CPU-Speed. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Is it possible to get a certain lap out of a replay?

My first lap is not my fastest. I usually need a few laps before i'm really fast.

Quote from the_angry_angel :Solution - list only empty servers, enter, vote to end, change the settings, wait for racers. Play.

Don't you need admin rights on the server to change the cars??

Good Point Tooby! Very good point!

You were right. It's just some very little steering I do when breaking (didn't even notice it while driving) but this is enough to make the wheel block.

Now THATS what I call a simulation!

Thank you guys.

Quote from snewham :what is the ratio of braking on front to back?? is it around 65% front? and what force of braking is it?

the only thing i can think of is that you are pushing the brake pedal too hard. I brake full for a few seconds and then release brake pedal to about 50% down to avoid locking up.

Yeah, thats the way I do it.

I have 1220 Nm force and 70% ratio.

Quote from snewham :Do you change down gear when braking?? e.g. change from 5th to 3rd or to 2nd?

if you do, try to brake until the revs are quite low and then change down otherwise it will lock the wheels up.

You are right. But this happens to the rear wheels in a RWD-Car.

Quote from Vain :In LFS no ABS-cars are allowed. That's be against the rules of the racing-organizations. So no need for FF-pedals.
Though I think it would be nice to have your wheel and pedals/pedalset shake when you jump over curbs...

Force Feedback Pedals!! YEHAW! Where can i buy this??

I'm talking about breaking before I make the turn. (already learned this in my first F1-game years ago *g*).

And yes, i push the brak-pedal to the bottom when i start to break and then lift it as I'm getting slower. Already found my breaking-strenght and balance.

BUT. the right front wheel always blocks while the others don't.

FF-Wheel of course! With seperated pedals.

Track is FE Gold. (the one i know best! *g*).

This happens before the 1st turn and also in the braking zone on the railway (on the bridge).
My setup is symetrical.
1 wheel blocks when braking. What do i have to change in setup??
--==Gogo==--

After driving a lot with FWD-Cars i want to advance my skills with the real fast cars. I made some hotlaps with the FZ50 GTR. But no matter what i change in setup, the front right wheel always blocks when i hit the breaks. The other wheels do fine.

What do i have to change to prevent this? Well I'm sure there are more than one solution to this.

Please enlighten me. Thanx.

Maybe thats the reason for all the wreckers out there. They never drove a real car!! *gg*

Live for Speed should include a check for the drivers license when unlocking!

BTW: I'm 31.

How about Offline Statistics?
--==Gogo==--
S2 licensed
It would be nice to have statistics of your offline races. Like you have in the LFS-Desktop for your online races.

I'd really like to know how much laps i have yet on BL-GP. And what my best times are, etc...

Another Suggestion: A Display "How much laps possible with this amount of Fuel" would be great. Like you have it in GTR. I don't think a realtime display of how much laps are left with your fuel is necessary. But you should be informed in some way if you have fuels for just 2 or 3 laps left. Maybe Pitradio? That would be great.

Is there something overclocked in your PC?

I have a AMD3000+ and a Radeon X800Pro with 1 Gig Ram and have 90FPS when driving alone and 50-60 fps when driving online with 20 others.

I just drove a few laps at BL-GP with the race_1 setup in the XFR. After a few laps it's really good to drive. Better than i had in mind (i'm improving - Horray! )

But I noticed something really interesting:
The first few laps I pushed to see what time i could make. But I didn't get under 1:21.5xx. Also my tires got hot.
So I decided to drive some smoother laps to cool the tires down and suddenly also my laptime went down. I drove 1:20.0xx laps one after another.

I always thought that if the tires sqeeze in the corners without drifting I'm fast because the car is on the limit. Am I wrong??

Also the race_1 setup seems to work fo longer races. Thats also one difference to the downloaded setups. With these you can drive 2 or max. 3 laps before the tires are completely red.

Well... I've never been on Nordschleife or Isle of Man. But i really like the idea of a very large Track with lots of curves.

So if the developers would make a fantasy-track with all the highlights of Nordschleife and/or Isle of Man, that would do it for me!

I don't like the idea of my money in the hand of some licencer.
What times are possible with standard-setup?
--==Gogo==--
S2 licensed
Lets take BL-GP with an XFR for example. (Yeah, i drive this a lot)

My best time was 1:19.0xx but i don't think this was because of the setup i downloaded. I've never made it that fast since this.

In online races the laptimes of the best are around 1:17.xxx.

I had the idea to this thread while reading this one: Good driving vs good setups .

So, what times are possible with standard-setup?
--==Gogo==--

Yeah. I've read some postings here that LfS doesn't work that good with overclocked components in your PC.
