this should be relatet to a bug in vistas directx

EDIT: On X I'm getting an extrem framerate drop, when at the end of race the positions are sortet (e.g. when the first 3 cross the finish line in order, then places 5-15 come in and then when the 4th finishes it stutters)

to the ban system: on the screenshot is to be seen, that when scawen leaves, there is 1 vote less required to ban him - so I suggest that the one who is to be baned should not be taken into the calculation of how many votes are required

Well, I say we should abolish newspapers - they are not needed at all, agreed?

For sure not, there are things we don't really need, but they have to be there or it would leave a terrible hole, and I think motorsport is one of it - like computer games, what do u think just the existance of LfS consumes on resources (the power needed to run your PC - having a short look at LfSW I assume it is as 600 PC are on 24/7, this is ca 300000 kW/h every day)

And well, I've seen a report on TV where they have had a closer look on the ice in polar regions and they found out there were always times with higher CO2 values (up to 10 times of todays) and there were always periods where it was much hotter on earth. The most intriguing thing was that the global warming always comes short before the raise of CO2, so the warming could be a natural phenomenom that causes the CO2 raise...

Quote from scoobyrbac :Got it last year in Feb. for around $985 or something. Was top of the line...for like 3 weeks After this year...Im getting video card, ram, harddrive, sound card...(have to wait till next year because got 2 year warrenty)

WHAT? I paid 120 Euro (< 200$) or so for my P4 3GHz HT (1MB L2 but only 400FSB) at appr. the same time^^ (and it runs fine at 3.46GHz)
P.S. HT isn't that important (when u mainly run single-threaded apps).

sorry for offtopic

I've once buyd my graphics card on ebay and it didn't work proper at first. When I had a closer look on it, I saw some kind of dirt (don't know what this was, unidentifical, but a huge amount of it) between the pins of one of the small chips on the card - cleaned it with a flexible brush - now all is working fine (maybe the pins where electrical connected throug it) so I suggest u take a 2nd look at ur card

don't think there could be any incompatabilies with an MB and an USB device. Do u know how to exchange a MB without reinstalling windows or do u want to do so?

What I noticed is, that the small glass on the FOX seems to be not transparent for the yellow pitlane (not ever and everywhere but often) - I can see the track trough it but not the yellow line. (in version W)

Quote from Jimmy_Lemon :yes i know, id most cirtanly pay £1 for 2048 textures infact id pay £1 for 1000 and £2 for 2000 if they was 2048, but i dont see the point for 1024 because 1024 is low in some peoples cases, im sure im not the only one who runs a high resolution

some simple math: 2048 * 2048 = 2*1024 * 2*1024 = 4 * 1024*1024

@Jimmy_Lemon: didn't u read the devs comments? It is very expansive to provide bandwith, maintainance and co for 1024x1024 - how can u say they should go to 2048 or 4096? Who should pay this? Also LfS should run on low end systems - this is also why High end users can go to extrem resolutions with 8xAA, 16xAF, Supersampling and all the stuff and this is enough for now I think - try a demo of GTR2 or so, in LfS I can run at 1600x1200 with all the stuff listed above, in GTR2 demo I must go down very far and it looks very very bad and its a mainstream 2007 "simulation" - so LfS takes a very good way in graphics/perfomance weighting

yeah, the problem should be some windows Bug, so the "drive d must be tested at next startup flag" is never removed. For example when u use partion magic and order it to change something about your partitions it wants to restart your computer to have full access just after loading the main XP routines, when deinstalling it just before the restart, there will alway be a message "can't perform ..." because Partition Magic is missing and left this performing request somewhere. So it should all be fine at his pc

I've seen such artifacts on my PC too - on mine it was relatet to the Power Supply (too old - too hot - voltage drop). If u have an old CPU cooler or something like that mount it on your power supply and see if it helps. Otherwise you could download a demo version of Everest and check the Voltages there (enable protocolation, play till u get the false drawings and then look up your min values of +3.3V (if it gets under 3.1V or even under 3 it sould be in cause of overheating or just because its too old). With the extra cooling your power supply won't live much longer, the problem will get worse very fast. So buy a new one if it causes it.

well, I don't know if this is reportet yet, but when I false start and hit another car, this is also penalysed for false start - sure it does so, but its a bit unfair. Maybe its possible to not give him a penalty when he's on full brake (and not on throttle) and immediately get the false starter to spectate when he hits another car. I tried this just in single player and don't wanna do it in MP, but should be the same there

Where? in LfS? I never touched it and it works fine. From lock to lock the wheel has 180° as u can easy proof

once I recognized something that might be ur problem -> when I attache only 1 USB device in the 2nd USB slot on my MB it won't work, until theres something attached to the first one (shouldn't be, but it is ^^) So you maybe try to put the wheel in the usb port with the lowest number, counted from left to right and then up to down in my case: 12 34 when looking at the back of ur PC

try this drivers: http://www.msi-computer.de/dow ... r/nv61xx-chipset_8.22.zip These are Chipset drivers for the Nforce 430 with onboard GeForce 6100 (what I think u have?), maybe the needed USB drivers are there within

Quote from Shotglass :a zalman 9700 competes just fine with the tuniq and similar 120mm coolers
http://www.anandtech.com/casec ... owdoc.aspx?i=2978&p=5

when I see this right its to say that the Zalman Cooler was set to silent mode (1250rpm, should be capable of 2000) in this test. I'm always playing with headset, so the noise my PC makes is of no interest to me. So the Zalman maybe even beets the other coolers at full power

hm, do u know what chipset u have? I have the ICH5, so some of the files required for propper USB is called ICH5USB.*. Seach on your system32 (c:\windows\system32 normaly) folder for these files to see if they are there or not.

Quote from dropin_biking :It uses socket LGA775, and did your CPU not come with an Intel heatsink?
~Bryan~

never use an intel headsink buy one from Zalman - fits on every socket (there are some reasons it might not fit, but I've never seen a motherbord where this is the case). Look at their page, there is a short film showing how to mount it and in which cases it doesnt fix. Furthermore they make the best CPU Cooling u can find (me: P4 3GHz; intel originel cooler 80°C @3GHz while playing; Zahlman 120mm Cu: 55°C @3400MHz while playing^^)

Are u using windows XP? Then u may need the SP2 or just USB drivers (download ne chipset drivers and install them, when u have no SP2 there should occur an error like "File USB.xxx not found). On some mainbords theres a driver CD where u can them install from. In the menu wheres ur 2nd screenshot made, can u see "USB Universal Host Controller XXXX" where the XXXX stands for their interrupt (? or some kind of adress) I think. On the other side u should try to use the Logitech Software and look if the wheel is recognized there
