That's how I start out basically see attachment. He will most likely have to spend money anyway so why not start out from the core? I mean people have different opinions about how to upgrade, but that is how I basically did since when I was like 12.

edit: my step is backward I know...

EDIT-2: I understand what you two are trying to prove but getting a saturn five rocket(8800gt) and forgetting to put the fuel in(400w) is just weird.

The way I would do is hold back on the GFX card and get yourself a decent power to "actually run" the 8800 is get yourself a c2d most likely an e2xxx series and more specifically a 2140 or 2180 or go more on e6xxx, Qxxxx or the new e8xxx(wolfdale) chips, but do remember that the wolfdales do require newer chipsets with 45nm support. Next is to get ram and get XMS 2 because of 1.) it has gotten cheaper to get and 2.) provides quite a punch for its value (2gb version kicks ass I've got them). Third is just get a good PSU and get a beefy 650 watt ones and from a good reputable company. I didn't Mention HDD's because you can just transfer your old HDD in the new heart and the last two steps is getting a pretty solid case and a decent mobo. All together can come up to upto 350(or more) but worth every penny for the future.

Haven't touched 3ds Max in a while. Well, changed my original lighting scene with better light intensities and did something about subdivision values and makes the pic look clearer and has more depth. Two renders attached with different skins and scene types.

Go for the DFP. Makes more practical sense overall for the money. 900 degrees and remember to get the REV.B version as that one has better pots for the pedals .

Windows never had problems with interconnecting with each other. My two Dell servers running 2003 R2 never had issues connecting with my Rig running vista Ultimate.

Well if you want to do audio composition you should ditch the on board since the on board audio uses cpu cycles and in some cases lossy quality audio. X-Fi wasn't intended for professional audio production and I should recommend something like from M-audio or similar companies that specializes on professional audio. the price maybe Steep but worth it. Hope that helps

It's a dosch Design studio environment render scene. I bought the DVD a while ago for 150 (link- http://www.doschdesign.com/pro ... /Studio_Environments.html ) but my 2 dell servers with 4 dual core XEONS plus my comp with a C2d 6420 wasn't able to handle the scene for render est was 2.5 weeks completion time for a 1680x1050 scene

EDIT: XC Nuse can you suggest a car pack DVD for me from dosch site I need to buy one for my dads realestate office. His graphics guy need one for putting cars on his scene for a banner.

As Long is it's an 8800GTX, it doesn't matter what manufacturer you choose. Sure the Bios maybe Different but the Heart and The PCB Layout is the same regardless of the manufacturer; as a side note you can mix and match clock ranges too but you won't get that performance as you would want from 2 similar clocked 8800gtx's

EDIT: damn too late jack beat me to it lol

plus E2xxx's have smaller cache sizes too and ram being better is totally irrelevant in this test

EDIT: a picture proof would be nice
