State your protest here:

Include correct lap, involved cars and a short description from your point of view. Include a video with 10s before and 10s after the event for which you protest (link). Also include a .mpr in case it is necessary to review the situation more in detail.

Movies can be made by using fraps (demo at www.fraps.com) and windows movie maker, which is included in your windows installation. Fee sites to upload movies are: http://www.mediafire.com

Quote from J.B. :If that's the case then AMD have really reached a new low in the already low standards of GPU driver quality.

Same issues arise with Nvidia drivers. If drivers aren't removed properly from the system it will affect the performance. This is frankly one of the reasons why MS with VISTA has separated the drivers from the kernel (and also explains Wien's experience).

-1 to all of that.

It's merely a matter of a driver issue. Especially if you just changed graphic cards!

I had the same problem (different card tho), and so do others: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=537768#post537768

Eventually for me the solution was:
1. Download ATI catalyst drivers 8.1 (hotfix)
2. Add/remove software - remove all ati drivers
3. Reboot
4. Go to save mode (press in boot screen)
5. Run driver cleaner (however this doesn't clean everything either so do 5.1 as well)
5.1. No driver cleaner? Remove:
- C:\ATI
- C:\Windows\ - search for ati*.*. Remove all these items
6. Run the reg cleaner part of ccleaner, remove all obsolete keys
7. Reboot to normal windows
8. Install 8.1 hotfix, wdm drivers (and if you want, ATI Tray Tools)

These steps did the job for me.

Quote from marecare :Would it be problem if we change our car after Aston event? We already made lots of testing with FXR on this track and none with FZR/XRR. Now there's little time for us to practice with other car. It's not just making a good hotlap, we must do much more about tactics, lap time stability, tyres testing, ppl motivating to race now with other car... We're already very grateful to admin team and your great job in this prestigious league.

The sentence you c/p said it all. It was announced a week ago that you guys were allowed to change cars. In that week your team could have been able to test the cars. Even if you weren't sure, you could have chosen not to participate in yesterday's qualification and have another week of testing and decision-making.
By driving the FXR during Q1, your car for the remainder of the season is fixed now.
Final settings GT1 and GT2 for remainder of the season

After a long series of debates we're finally able to announce the final settings for the remainder of the season. We understand that it is a sensitive subject for each team, but given the Patch Y changes, some alterations were necessary in order to create conditions similar to those with which we started the season. To come to this decision we incorporated the following considerations in our decision-making:
- Stint pace;
- Stint length;
- Required pit stops;
- Total time to finish a pit stop.

With the help of both the GT1 and the GT2 teams, who provided us information regarding the different settings, we were able to determine the following restrictions:

GT1:
  • The FZR will carry an added 15kg of ballast.
  • The FXR team is allowed to change car. This change would be effective for the remainder of the season, as announced on the 7th of January. The car the team qualifies with will be the car it will race with for the remainder of the season.
  • The XRR will remain with the default settings provided by LFS patch Y.
GT2:
  • The XRR will continue to use 25% power restriction
  • The FXR will use 23% power restriction.
According to our calculations, based on the information collected, each car model in both classes has a decent chance to win. This chance is based on the driver performance and not the restrictions on the cars themselves.
Out of respect for the teams who helped us out, we will not go in detail regarding our calculations since it might give away too much information regarding their respective stint/laptimes and/or strategy.

We would like to thank all those who have helped us out both in the test sessions and in providing relevant info in the respective forum threads.

MoE admin team.

Quote from n1lyn :that looks like an original da_hoe paint but not like a decisionhelp for justifying extra weight.

What a nice constructive da_hoe reply. If you've taken the time to read things, you'd be wondering yourself why you'd be making such a comment.

@Jay: at this moment, we're in our final stages of the discussion. Personally I think based on all the information we've obtained, we've got enough indications to make a fair decision.

Finally, testresults with 15kg

Thanks all for joining the test session: drivers from n!, F1RST, SK, my3id, #low and even a few LFS GT teams. In particular we would like to thank Chris and Clio for finishing their stints.

In this test session we tested two settings:
1. results 20kg
2. results 10kg

For Saturday we would like to ask to get the data of a FZR+15kg stint.

We're close to the final decision, just a little bit more input!

Quote from Andreas Grauel :Sorry this is just stupid to balance them on laptimes. The XRRs became much much faster the last few days/weeks before this I'd have agree to some kg but not now... they are only a few tenth slower and can drive 7 laps more...! Just think about it admins... it is just insane and u make the XRR to win this race the easiest way

Rather wrong assumption based on one graph and another wrong assumption about the 7 laps more as it is already invalidated in this thread. It's actually 3 laps more.

The chart merely used to visualize the differences with the FZR, FZR+20kg and the XRR which is for one stint as Jay wanted to see. Who says this is the overall chart on which we base the our conclusions? Did we say that, or did you make the assumption, that we would just base our decision just on this chart alone?
I can ensure you we try to include each aspect (stint times, stint length, engine damage (which is btw for both cars the same), clutch overheating the best way possible to determine a fair balance.

Quote from Vykos69 :I am completely against any additional balancing weights, based on those little and insignificant informations. Sorry. Too late and not complete.

The 'not complete' part of your statement is already invalidated by my respond to Andreas, the 'too late' part is already being discussed in this forum and if you're talking about insufficient information perhaps you should have had (more of) your team members help out a bit more so more significant information could be given. It still can be put to use frankly.

The graph is GT1 only.

I don't completely what you understand with your second paragraph. I have the impression you're referring to the GT2 class in the second paragraph.
If you are referring to GT2: From our point of view the cars are pretty good balanced. We agree that both sides can make some improvements in speed, however, as the test race proved, individual qualities seem to determine the difference, not the car.

Quote from Jay :can somebody show a lap-chart? cant find anything on lfsw =/

The linear lines shows the drop in pace. Lower is quicker.
- Note that I have not included the first lap as it removes some of the detail.
- Also note that I was only able to compare till lap 20 using the two fastest of the FZR data I could use, while lap 25 is possible with the FZR. Need more info for that. (Hint ;P)
- Also add 2min in front of each laptime as I have only used the seconds part to determine the difference in pace.

We're close to a final decision for GT1. For GT2 we will go with the 23% power restriction for the FXR.

Quote from marecare :Just to be precise, will be possible for us to change our FXR for something else later in the league or just now before AS event?

No, either change cars now and finish with that car the season, or stick to the FXR and finish the season with the FXR.

Based on the info in this thread, we have decided to alter the GT1 FZR class and change it from carrying 25kg to 20kg.

Thank you all for your testing and sharing your results which is a great help to us getting a better insight in what to do to reach our goal.
