So it seems. So the game doesn't show the car where it thinks it is.
I think this is more like a game bug than a car bug then.

Okay, I did all this (except the Winamp part) and even used the 29999 port but everything still seems the same as in my last post, i.e., have no indication that it works and see no output files.

Winamp not needed. All things are optional and can be turned off. Disable if you do not need it.

Okay, I did this and see that Vcom isn't communicating at all with LFS, just keeps saying I should start it and then eventually ends with an error code of 6 unknown error.

That means it cannot make contact with lfs. No special reason, but probably it cannot find lfs open insim port.

Quote from Avatar13 :
Yup, saw all that plus the above, unfortunately.

So I assume you do not see the Vcom intialized message in LFS. (judging from the previous paragraph)

Quote from Avatar13 :
Okay, I'll do that when I get a free moment. Thanks a lot for helping me figure this out as I've been going nuts trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong!

I checked it and saw no error. I even tryed running it and worked fine.

Few ideas:
First... Are you sure you have LFS 0.5 X (or newer X) version? This does NOT work in older versions (you would need 0.461 or older)

Second...Maybe there is something wrong in the network. If you have local network (home network), maybe you could try the true interface (often e.g 192.168.0.1). Other test could be downloading the dedi host and setting it in the same computer and try connecting it with the game (using 127.0.0.1). Then you could also test connecting Vcom to the dedi server. I'm not saying you need dedi server running vcom, but maybe there is something odd with the net settings.

Quote from SpikeyMarcoD :Does Vcom need .net framework??

Heck no. I hate programs which would require installing additional stuff to work.

Requirements:
- Vcom installed (just unzipped with the directory structure)
- If you want to use the Winamp plugin, copy it into Winamp plugins directory (winamp main dir?)
- You must have IP stack (TCP/IP in Windows network settings)
- If you have a firewall, let it pass vcom<->lfs traffic through

1) Config (For example these work if lfs and vcom in the same computer)
vcom_address=127.0.0.1:29997;
lfs_address=127.0.0.1:29999;
modes=65535;
( DO NOT FORGET END ; !!!!)
You can skip the step 1 while the setup works like intended
2) Start Winamp (or any other player you use) (if not already on)
3) Start VCom
4) Start LFS and in LFS press T for text box and type "/insim 29999" (without "")
Note: If you use different port than 29999, set it in the setup too. Also the vcom and lfs ports must not be the same! Port should be max 65535, and generally anything between 20000-65535 shouldn't conflict with any other program very often.

If you want the window stay after VCom has stopped, you can first start command prompt and running it from it (cd to the dir first and then type vcom)

When it starts it should display in LFS a text like...

VCom:Version 0.472 - Initialized

Also if you look at the command prompt, you can see it shows messages like...
VCom running in SERVER mode
Start the main loop...
And it should display messages when you drive (at splits, end of laps, etc). When you are in the track entry screen, try type e.g !ver, which should then display the version.

The logs are saved into the /log directory and other (XML) files into the user defined output directory (normally /out).

If this doesn't work, put the setup somewhere (in net) and PM me the link and I have a look at it.

Quote from BBO@BSR :If seen and experienced something like that before.

I call it "hit by a ghost car"

Because of (also little) lag LFS thinks the car (#2. in the pic who was lagging a bit) is still there.
But in reality the car was already somewhere else (#3. in the picture)
So the "Ghost" (#2.) of the real car touched you (#1) and caused the "crash".

Maybe. But...I have always thought LFS would display the car 2 in a place where it thinks it is. This replay was filmed in car1(?), so if the lfs in the client car 1 thought that car 2 hit it, then why doesn't it show the car 2 in such a place that the hit would be visible?

Hmmm... if LSD is too difficult, try a locked diff. It works quite well in many fwd cars

Ok, I watched the replay now. It does not look like what i told in the prev post. If it would be the thing I told, you could see the steering wheel and the vitual steering marker turn left. But in the replay they do not. Actually it is constantly pointing bit right, while the car makes a jump to left.

I haven't watched replays of those cases when I have had those 'fits', so not sure how they should look like in a replay. At least while driving you should see the steering wheel suddendly turn left.

No chance you are a mouse user?

Well, I am and this happens to me sometimes. I call it a 'fit'. It happens when the optical mouse misreads the mouse movement. In that case it thought you turned it left, while you did not. I have got this sometimes on a perfect straight. Really annoying. Afaik the only way to reduce it to get a better mouse, mouse pad or start use a wheel.

Yes there is.

I do not know if the lapper works for localhost. At least VCom works. It actually works for hotlap, single player, multiplayer (dedi, non dedi server) and replay. Some of the tools also work in client (in server).

It is simple. Start LFS with insim port open (e.g type /insim 29999 in lfs or start it with vcom insim=29999). Start Vcom (set the same port in setup) and that's it. If you use it for hotlap training only, then the most useful commands would be !pb (personal best), !laps (laps times, splits done in this run) and !stats (this race/run stats for the player).

In a race it would be annoying to see someone flashing his lights all the time. Are you making this program? Why don't improve it so that it flashes the lights with music? Here's another crazy idea: Make an app which updates the license plate every 10ms. That way we could have a scrolling text in the license plate!

For Europe 1700 GMT is good. I could join any time 17-21. If the event is weekly I would join every time if I only can. If you are going to run both stage rally and heat (I hope so), maybe they should be on different days. SR on saturday and heat on sunday? Just don't burn yourself down trying to host too many events.

If the heat gets huge popularity (>15 people), maybe you could think of splitting it like heat A and heat B. Both A and B are like you have described, but then in the end 3 best from the A heat and 3 from the B heat race in the final race for the total win. To make that work well, it would be good if the players were divided evenly (based on speed) to both heats. But maybe just randomizing would work.

Good work Beano.

When I googled, I found only an old Australian rock band Tin Tin. Problem was that even they had one hit, they had multiple songs. And I couldn't understand the baby in the 'bottle' (my guesses where bottle or the 'thing' where you put salt). Also why the heck Tin Tin is going out of the door.

Ok, now I understand.

I don't think you can clear any of the LFS created RCM messages. Same goes for drive through, stop and go etc penalties as well as yellow flags. Only LFS can clear them when it sees it is time. Same way stop and go penalty message is shown all the time until you go to pits suffer it.

You need to spec or finish the race to clear it.

EDIT: /p_clear (LFSW Name) clears the penalty. It doesn't remove the message while keeping the penalty.

Clearing player specific RCM message could be done with /rcc_ply <player>....iirc. Although it would be very good if you could order it show only a specififc time after which it automagially disappears.

I'm totally lost here. You ask a song name, but there is no song name?

I recognise Tin Tin and Milou, but that's all. And this is supposed to be easy. :schwitzmust be something I don't listen)

Have you taken off the battery and put it back then? It's like reset with computers. Your problem sounds just like I had and this really worked for me.

Come down. My 3510i did the same thing.

Let me think... try take off the battery completely and then put it back. (It's like IVO boot for phones ...only finns understand what it means )

If that doesn't fix it take it to the store (my phone went over one factory fix... 'bios' fix ...when it went completely dead).

Quote from SpikeyMarcoD :Scawen does not hack. He just changes. You should hack to accomplish it.

Me? Hack what?

I ment the LFSWorld demo server list. It didn't show X10 some time ago. Now it works. Besides it's Victor who does all the coding to LFSworld, so I have understood.

I'm an old school coder (or at least relatively old) and I consider hacker (or to hack) to have a positive meaning. Hacker means a good coder and hacking doing some (clever?) changes to code. It is only these people who have no long coding background who mix it with cracker and to crack, which is braking into networks and computers. So hacker=good, cracker=bad (except with butter, cheese and tea). But maybe I should stop using hacker so much, because many people get a wrong idea.

Are you planning these kind of races any time soon? If so, when?

I know the choise of rallyx tracks is bit limited in lfs, but anyway It would be good to see some more rallyx action.

As a side note: How can you arrange the start grid manually?
