What if there realy is a some kind of bug in force efects? I just read an interesting comment in RSC, and IMHO it's possible that the forces in LFS doesn't work as well as they should.
Open the first post of this thread here.
Click the patch link there and download the LFS_TEST_W26.exe into your LFS directory. When the download is finished, just run it and click the Execute button. When it asks to overwrite some files click Yes to All. After that, you are ready to go.
It's not that hard to do both. First send skins to LFS server (like it's done now), and then just controll the transfers with checksums. And if the user doesn't want to send the skins from his own computer, skin could be downloaded from the LFS server. That's one solution for the problem. But this is going off topic and resembles (well masked ) feature request.
No. The sound engine in LFS supports only stereo system. If your speaker configuration differs from this, it's up to your other equipment to prosess the sound further.
There are so many variables that can be cause of that. To mention few, your speakers might not suite very well with the LFS sounds, or there are some driver issues with the sound card, or something like that. At least couple of computer speaker sets that I've seen, totally breaks the sound in LFS.
Isn't it obvious? It's a test patch and for testing use only. You should use patch W17 only if you want to test how the new features work and don't mind possible bugs. It won't take long until next stable patch is released.
As was said before, the sounds got quite nice improvement step in the latest patch. And of course you should buy the S2 licence to hear most of the new sounds, but I can tell you that the GTR cars sound good now.
This certainly shouldn't be the problem in LFS, but it might be matter of taste what kind of feedback you are looking for. Driving with real cars is of course whole different thing than driving car sim. You can't get the same immersion what ever you do (with moderate budjet.)
You should buy the S2 licence to see the other tracks. Blackwood doesn't represent whole variety of tracks in LFS.
It's strange how much issues some of you have with VSYNC. It would be interesting to see poll about how many people realy have problems with VSYNC and what sort. I for example have always used VSYNC with all my games and haven't had an issue in years because of it. But I guess it's better to leave it off by default in LFS if people gets problems for using it and it's easy to switch on if you prefer to use it.
There are lot of differences in FO8 and BF1 engine. Just because the amount of cylinders are the same, doesn't mean that they produce same kind of sound.
Shouldn't the rules concern everyone? I think no-one should have any special privileges in here. Rules quite clearly says that these threads should be read before posting to them.
I have a few improvement idea for the sounds. First of all, every car should have its own sound enviroinment. Some real car manufacturers have also people tuning the sound enviroinment for the cars (like BMW).
Second, the exhaust sound should be added so that there are more sound behind the car and less at front of the car.
Third. I would like to hear much more higher frequency sounds.
I bet that AndroidXP is right. Your laptimes shouldn't change at all. Just watch the replay with U and U30 and you should see the difference in speedometer within the same replay.
You have to convert the audio to ogg format. It doesn't work if you only rename a file to .ogg. If you know for sure that the audio is in Ogg Vorbis format, it might be too long or something.
