Just, WOW..

So much detail, very interesting to read. Thank you, Scawen, for this insight in to game development and LFS.
Very humbling to read how much you can get done in a day, I'm no coder, by I did try to learn some python. Just getting a few simple lines of code to work took hours, creating my first very simple app took days. And then it would not work properly..

I hope you don't mind me opening a thread about your locked thread, you didnt lock it for no reason, but I think there are some knowligable people on here that might give some cool insights on the stuff you posted.

And to the community, I was wondering if we could chip in together and give Scawen an modern pc Seeing as he is still on some old duo core system with a 60 hz monitor


Great read, specially since now I spend way to much on iracing just so I can race in VR. (The grapics being tied to the physics background stutter thing maybe me choose iracing over getting back in to LFS when I got a VR HMD)

Mostly, price... Vive 900 eulo, and you need a phat PC 1000 eulo.
PSVR, 400 eulo, and you need a ps4 300 eulo.. Also people who claim to have tried all 3, vive occu and psvr say psvr is most comfortable to wear, doesn't have godrays and due to the subpixxels has the least screendoor effect.
What the occu and vive do better is tracking, and the vive allows roomscalle (if you have the room).
So for me it was cost price, and if this thing will become fully functional on PC... Well can't beat that price for LFS VR experience

Can't wait for LFS vr, bought a Playstion VR and seems it will work with pc. So with a bit of luck I can drive in VR soon!!

Take your time to view the whole thing, I watched it in several stints..

It just WOWed me, not just what the documentary is about, but also what it implies for "democracy" and the amount of power of multinationals/lobbying..

There are products in my local supermarket that contains this stuff. I ate it...

Hmm don't think we will see this track soon, S2 is still alpha, maybe with the next patch it will turn beta, but S3 still has alot of thing needed to be done. That is if they still have the same plans they showed us through the years... S3 would get a new engine which makes it possible to get nighttime, weather and the likes... so S3 is still 3 or more years of...

lets just hope we get some stuff while we wait for S2 beta and gold.... ow wait we are still waiting for the S1 rally-pack right

But this rocks!! Took me a few minutes to get it setup but having a blast already, and haven't even got proper leds mounted yet

Just the feeling you get when looking through the turn like you do naturally, it's just great! (Prolly due to the widescreen tft I already lean abit into the turn when turning, so this translates perfectly in FreeTrack)

Had a Wii, just got me a bluetooth dongle. Fixed some thick metalwire in a shape so it "mounts" at the back of my tft with the wiimote on top.

Just tried it out with one IR source (lol a candle) think the headphoneclip will be in the mail tomorrow. I'm amazed at how easy it is, just connect the wiimote via bluetooth, start FreeTrack, start LFS and GO


So next time you see me racing, you'll prolly notice me headbanging on my music

I can recommend this to anyone who already had a wiimote or webcam. And since FreeTrack saved me lots of $ spending on the evil TrackIr monopolists I'll make a donation with a big

Yep no LRF or LX4 online... IMHO adding more cars will not make LFS a better experience. And why there was a "Cruise Server" filter added but no "Drift Server" or just a general "Non Race Server" filter....

But I don't want to be negative, always look on the brightside of life. We still got THE BEST online racesim, even before any other race-sim or game ever had online support.

Long live SACVIER and may they lead happy and fullfilling lifes

This all reminds me of something I used to say alot to people who where gloomy.

Live in the now, two persons can go through the same thing but have a very different experience. Imagine two people at a busstop, the bus is late, one of the two is totally stressed out and only looking in the direction he's expecting the bus to come from, while the other just shrugs his shoulders the bus will come by it self nothing he can change about it at that moment and just enjoys the nice sun overhead and spots a bird gathering twiggs for a nest (or what ever)...

Your view on the world changes your experience of it. If there is a problem you can't fix a this time or moment leave it be for now and focus on something else. Be in control of your own mind

Not to say your not aloud be feel gloomy now and then. With every up there is a down. If there are no downs there are no ups.. all would be grey blur...

Hmm I don't think adding more combo's will solve that problem as it is now people are still driving as nat with gtr since s2 released.. There are so many tracks and cars almost unused...

Cool thanks for the little museum Fun to see all the "same" cars look so different. Nice to see how small details can give a car a totally different look.

Indeed if you make a shift-p harsher then just a disco, peepz will just always pull the plug for a few second and reconnect..

if this is all about how to prevent teams form being unsportman like... just make the rule that if anyteam is proven without a doubt that they are breaking the rules with intend that they will be banned from MOE racing for X seasons... anyone breaking the rules will make room for people who care about fair racing and sportmanship.

Hmm if we are dreaming of Scawen coding things to solve this, in my opinion coding up a system where damage gets outputted and then when rejoining added as a time/repair penalty is a halfsolution.. if the coder from heaven is going to tackle this problem a nicer solution would be to rember the car state... as in when you rejoin you get the same exact car, serverside option ofcourse, so same fuel, tirewear and engine damage... that would make it in a sense the same car, so it's just one car that starts and finnishes..

again just my 2 cents

If you compare this digital endurance race to a real life endurance race there is a big differance. In reallife it is a battle to test if it can hold up, the car that is... If you roll it, crash it, park it in the gravel or get some technical failure it is over, done, no more for you... and they practise for a year for such an event, develop the car for lots of $$ etc. etc.

In my eye's the best and simplest solution to your problem would be... drum roll please. OUT is OUT... crash it, roll it, park it in the gravel or get a "technical" failure.. it's bye bye, pack in the spare tires and go home... Ofcourse this (negative word here) if your isp decides to unplug you for a second, but it also (an other negative word here) when your engine blow or your tranny breaks..

I think it would make a lot more "endurance" and adds the part where it's not the fastest guys that make it but the guys that hold everything together..

Just my 2 cents, I guess none of you are willing to go down this road, but in my eyes it's what makes endurance endurance. Imagne Le Mans.. "Well Bentley is down to their 5th car now, 2 took fire, one parked in the gravel and 2 blown engines. Lucky for them they took along 10 cars this weekend."

Just added some odd mix of cars on oval, practise, a MRT got flipped, no reset, and AI dont shift S orso, so it just lay there, untill it got hit again landed on it's feet.. nothing happend.

Shouldn't it try to reach the pits? why doesnt it move?

Also on track they seem to evade eachother, but exiting pits they just drive in to each other full speed. Mind you, it was an odd combo so big speed differances but still

All servers give "no reply" after I connected to a server which was full, I pressed back to get to the serverlist, pressed refresh.

LFS does "check" them, but no servers show up.

FIX, going back to the multiplayer screen (where you can fill in a password and select connect to specfic server etc.) and clicking "check hosts" again. Then it did show up instantly..

ow and it is repeatable.
