Quote from Bob Smith :I won't comment on the case (not into silly cases), but I would highly recommend getting a socket AM2 motherboard, since Socket 939 will be phased out soon. But of course you'll need DDR2 memory and a PCI-Express graphics card to go with it.

Which is a bit too expensive for me at the moment, which my AGP Graphics card works really well for the time being.

Sweet, those parts cost me 133 quid if I bought them.

So the processor and motherboard won't have any problems? As long the socket numbers are correct, I should have nothing to worry about?
New PC help

Hello fellow drivers.

I am on a learning curve with PC's at the moment. I'm not on the same hype of level as you guys are at the moment, so bare with me if I don't understsand .

I am going for a new pc in the next month or so, but instead of buying all the equipment I need, I'm buying some, and using some of my old stuff, that still works, onto the new PC.

Here is what I have at the moment.

Unreliable case *heat goes through it, not bounces off, so it overheats everything*
Athlon 2000+ XP (1.67ghz) - Had this for 2 years running now.
PCChips M848A Motherboard Socket 462
1280MB RAM
nVIDIA 6800GT AGP X8 256MB
5.1 Surround Sound Card
250w PSU

Here is what I am going for.

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/88109

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/96986/product_info

I'm not considering a big big gamers PC, the games I play *Excluding Call of Duty 2* don't take up the PC that much, but it would be nice to have a PC with better performance. Plus the fact having the 6800GTs true potential with a bigger processor will make me drool my head off.

Am I going in the right direction for this? Or am I missing something out?

Quote from mattemann1 :Hi
I'm going to replace my Saitek "el crappo" R100 wheel for something nicer. I've come to the conclusion that i want a DFP but the info on the websites makes me confused. None of them even mention that it works with a pc, they all just say that it is a wheel for the ps2. Does all DFP wheels work with my pc or do I have to order a special version?
Would be kind of annoying to end up with a wheel that doesnt work properly....

Oh yes it is PC compatible, and its drivers for it are awesome, you are gonna enjoy this wheel .
Pitting on very last lap, yay or nay?

I have noticed over the past few days, that a majority of drivers think its a good idea to get winnings, by pitting on the last lap on Mandatory pits races.

How do you guys feel about it, do you think it should be allowed, or do you think it should be illegal, with a death sentence on it?

I'm up for death sentence, it not only spoils other drivers races, but it is a very cheap way of boosting up your stats *for those that are stat obsessed* and making you think you earned it, but you know its wrong.

How do you guys feel about it?

Agreed, but it can be less, doesn't always have to be 60 laps .

Quote from dadge :the vain has spoken, imo the atc gp lap times should be no less than 1 min and no more than 2.30 ( with a bit of give and take). i have been driving on some of the south city tracks (offline) and there is very little room for passing imo and even the straights can kill your car. maybe further down the road we could have a SO GP but imo it is too soon for a street race

i go for ASTON NORTH

I'm up for that. As long its not those 3 hour endurances, I prefer the length we did last week.

Hmm, that is a bit too pricy, I was after cases roughly around the 30 quid margain, and some of them had fans attached on the sites.

Here is what I am going for.

Athlon 3200+
Motherboard to support processor *Socket 939?*
Case
PSU 300+ watt.

I have everything else, just these parts im pricing at the moment.

Do you have a picture of it?

I'm getting a new pc, simply by keeping the ram, graphics card, sound card, with a new motherboard and processor *Athlon 3200+*

It's something to keep the pc cool for the time being.

Now here is a question that rattles my nut in, and I keep forgetting. Which way does the fan rotate when it sucks air in and blows air out?
Cooling help.

Hey there, I was participating for a championship race last night, and unfortunately 2 minutes into the race *after an hour of qualifying* the details of the game started to flick a lot, and come out of their detailing.

It wasn't long before the PC froze, and crashed on me. It happened twice yesterday, only because there wasnt enough air coming through the opened windows. *Hence the summer*

I gave the PC a clean, got rid of a majority of dust. But is there any recommendations on keeping it cool?

I'm getting a new PC soon, the case isnt reliable anymore, and doesnt really help the cooling, so I opened the cases for that.

I do have an Exhaust blower, should I put that next to my graphics card? (nVIDIA 6800GT 256MB)

My first official GP event, and boy was I happy. I was expecting to qualify in the mid, or perhaps back of the grid, but as it turned out I qualified 5th, putting in a new pb of 1.15.60, on the endurance set .

As the race got underway, down to first corner, I got 4th, and ITEK 2nd 3rd and 4th was underway for the next 20-30 laps, until Kaspur and Franky, knocked on my rear and said "Hello we have come to overtake you!" Had a great battle against them, until Franky and Kaspur had a coming together, sending Franky to the barriers, and leaving me and Kaspur doing a pace battle for 10-20 laps.

Unforunately after I pitted, tyres were cold, and the car got flipped, which cheesed me off a little, because I was doing so well. I carried on racing, and simply paced to the finish, one because I could barely see, and 2 tyres were cold, and was worried about punctures.

But great race everyone I hope we can make an xfr league out of this.

Quote from richy :ive been trying to make an endurance set but its really pushing my lap times up to 1:17s ... i dont know if i want to keep the inferno set or try my newly made R3 endurance set i think i will just keep to my 1 stop strategy, im not trying to win but just take part!

Just enjoy yourself, your times are fine for a one stopper .

Quote from dadge :i think pitstops are on for this one. there's always been pitstops in the ATC GP so i don't think franky will turn them off

So I did 60 laps of no pits for nothing? *cracks knuckles* Start running sunshine, no Ferrari will help you on this one .

Quote from Mazz4200 :Joytech make this one for the PS2.

Not sure it would be compatible with PC ?, if this the type of thing you were after, i would send them an email first to make sure you can use it on a puter

http://www.joytech.net/product ... =2&lang=1&catID=1

That's not compatible for the PC I'm afraid, I used to have that wheel, but the wheel they made before that does work on the PC, same williams wheel, different colour, NO Force Feedback though. But still works.

There is a Thrustmaster F1 Wheel, but I was quickly put off it and bought a DFP instead.
