Quote from BurnOut69 :Basically yes, thats what I was saying, and Alonso himself thinks it too. So I'm not illepall at all.

Do you have evidence based on this?

Quote from DeKo :i pretty much doubt that, you can see jack shit out a formula 1 mirror at the best of times, and alonso had a car behind him aswell, hindering his view. Unless he has some sort of telepathy, or they quickly radio'd him to slow down because he was coming (which would have been recorded anyway), i doubt he meant it. anyway, MSC could easily have tucked in aswell. he broke the rules by overtaking, so he deserved the penalty.

I was thinking the same thing myself.

Quote from TiJay :Great race, but... Schumi would have lost if Alonso's pitcrew didn't balls up the tyres. And Button's pass on the last lap was a bit dodgy but I blame the Aguri for the mess.

I slept in and only managed to watch 9 laps of the race left. It's on again this afternoon, so I'll tape it then .

Great driving by Button though! And Alonso!

Stewards put Albers to back of grid 30 September 2006 Spyker driver Christijan Albers will start Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix from the back of the grid after his qualifying times were deleted by Shanghai stewards.
Albers was penalised for failing to bring his car to the weighbridge when called to do so by officials during Saturday’s session.

The Dutchman had qualified in 19th position, but is now set to start from 22nd. The official provisional grid will be published by the FIA on Sunday morning.

An all-Renault front row in China

The rain in Shanghai on Saturday afternoon exposed the weakness in Ferrari’s armour, as Renault team mates Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, together with Michelin’s other runners, enjoyed a clear performance advantage in a very wet qualifying session for the Chinese Grand Prix, with the world champion securing pole position. As Alonso and Fisichella swept all before them in Qualifying 1, heading the McLarens of Pedro de la Rosa and Kimi Raikkonen and Vitantonio Liuzzi’s Toro Rosso, the Ferraris struggled in 13th and 14th place (Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher), with the Toyotas of Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli (1m 48.894s and 1m 49.08s respectively), Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro in their Spykers (1m 49.542s and 1m 49.903s) and the Super Aguris of Takuma Sato and Sakon Yamamoto (1m 50.326s and 1m 55.560s) were all eliminated. Monteiro briefly brought out the red flags when his car ground to a halt with mechanical problems, while Yamamoto spun in a slippery Turn 14.

Williams team mates Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg, Rubens Barrichello in the Honda and McLaren’s Kimi Raikkonen all had similar moments.

Ferrari struggled again in Qualifying 2, Schumacher only grabbing ninth place right at the end as Alonso and Fisichella again headed Honda’s Jenson Button and Nick Heidfeld in the BMW Sauber. This time Toro Rosso’s Scott Speed (1m 45.851s), David Coulthard in the Red Bull (1m 45.968s), Massa (1m 45.970s), Liuzzi (1m 46.172s), Webber (1m 46.413s) and Rosberg (1m 47.419s) were eliminated.

That left Alonso, Fisichella, Button, Heidfeld, De la Rosa, Barrichello, BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica, Raikkonen, Schumacher and an impressive Robert Doornbos in the Red Bull to fight it out for the top 10 positions. It was a foregone conclusion that the blue cars would dominate and they duly did, Alonso taking a much-needed pole position with 1m 44.360s as Fisichella backed him up with 1m 44.992s, despite running over one of the mirrors from Raikkonen’s McLaren which had fallen off the silver car. Barrichello and Button were joint third, sharing 1m 45.503s, and Raikkonen took fifth on 1m 45.754s.

Schumacher mustered 1m 45.775s for sixth, beating spinner De la Rosa (1m 45.877s), Heidfeld and Kubica (1m 46.053s and 1m 46.632s) and Doornbos (1m 48.021s.

Engine-change penalties dropped Massa from 13th to 21st and Sato from 21st to 22nd on the provisional grid, leaving Speed, Coulthard, Liuzzi, Webber, Rosberg, Schumacher Jnr, Trulli, Albers, Monteiro and Yamamoto to take the intervening places.

With more rain likely on Sunday, Ferrari and Bridgestone will have their work cut out to contain the Renault-Michelin challenge.

Ah damn it ,after watching the youtube of the G25 in action, it makes me want to get it as well, even though I have a working DFP *though it now needs to be calibrated manually to make sure the wheel deadzone is straight*

Hope Father Christmas can get me one

No Japanese qualifying on ITV either

ITV have delivered another blow to Formula One fans hoping to watch the thrilling denouement of this year’s championship live. The broadcaster will not show the qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix live.
They are also refusing to show the same session for the Chinese Grand Prix live.
As ever the only recourse for F1 fans is to complain directly to ITV. They do at least appear to be acknowledging such complaints, so it is definitely worth contacting them via [email protected] to register your disapproval. You never know, they might just find a way to squeeze it onto some digital channel or something, if nothing else.

Quote from kidzer :Hmmm rather atrocious driving there!

Knockhill is an awesome circuit to drive round with a decent driver though!

I've been round twice in the 2 seater single seater (yes, a wonderful oxymoron!), once with Ryan driving, and the other with Alan Kircaldy, it was awesome!

Nice one, which single seater was it?

ITV drop live qualifying again

With just three crucial qualifying sessions and three vital races left in 2006, British viewers won’t get to see at least one of them, thanks to ITV.
Even though the qualifying session at Shanghai in China will be taking place very early in the morning in British time, ITV are not showing it live.
The company runs the terrestrial ITV1 and digital ITV2 and ITV3 channels (ITV4 not being on air during the qualifying), but apparently cannot find room in their schedules for this vital part of the championship.
Yet again, ITV are treating British F1 fans with total contempt.

----------------

ITV will not be showing the qualifying session for this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix live on terrestrial television, despite the action taking place early in the morning in Britain. The qualifying session will be screened from 5.30am-7.15am, but only on the digital channel ITV3. ITV1 will carry a tape-delayed replay of qualifying at 1.10pm, and the live race at 6am on Sunday.
On Saturday morning ITV1 will instead show “ITV Early Morning News” and children’s TV programmes, “Boobah”, “Pocoyo”, “Fun Song Factory”, “Jo Jo’s Circus” and “Dora the Explorer.” Bernie Ecclestone was not available for comment on whether he approves of his multi-billion dollar sport being pre-empted for toddler television.

Quote from JohnPenn :Not been to Knockhill for years good to see the track again.
I can put LFS names to some of those drivers

Ohh no!!... oversteer!....Over compensate spin and crash!, repeat this every time you approach this corner, if you get frustrated, blaming another driver adding swearing and hand gestures will help untill you see your shrink in the morning.

John

It's changed over the years, smoother surface, especially the go kart track, thats improved a lot!

That's hot hatch day, I ought to make a day out of that.

Thanks for the clip mate. I'll be driving in a Formula Seater car on that track in no less than 2 weeks. Gives me a good view of how the corners are taken, and how fast its done in

Doesn't suprise me how cocky they are in taking the corners and overtaking.
