Err, this probably wouldn't be the best idea because it your concentration would be taken off the race and you would probably cause a big crash. It would probably work for single player where you can pause, though.
Is there somewhere where I could purchase/download (or both) a video of an entire F1 race broadcast? I don't get Speed channel, or any channel that shows F1, and I really want to see the races.
The second round of practice for the Melbourne GP is underway! As of 9:20 PM (Pacific Standard Time), Alonso, a favorite, has lost his foothold on the best time and has fallen into third best. Massa and Heidfeld of Ferrari and BMW respectively, have taken first and second best times, also respectively . For my team at http://www.f1manager.info, I have Sato and Davidson for my drivers, Sauber for a chassis, and RB Renault for an engine (note that I had limited funds and couldn't get the best :shrug Any of your predictions are welcome, and good luck to all who are in a fantasy league! Check out the stuff at www.formula1.com for more info! I'm so excited!
Do you like or dislike how exclusive LFS is? I like it being exclusive, because everybody's nice to each other and we have this feeling of community where everybody (except the occasional douche) is willing to help one another. In race, people apologize if they crash others (again, except the occasional douche), and are willing to share setups and other tips. I'm kind of worried that LFS will lose its charm if it really starts to take off. What's your opinion? (Please vote in the poll, too!)
I think we should be able to set up camera positions prior to the replay, and be able to cycle through those cameras during the replay (or just go to any camera we want, even if it's out of order) The cameras would also have an option to rotate to follow the action. The list of features goes on and on, but I think you get my drift. This would allow for more realistic replay viewing (instead of following just one user).
In preparation for the upcoming OWRL championship, MPRC will be hosting an open practice and PB proving session on Friday, March 9, from about 0:00-1:00 GMT. See details below: Server name – OWRL Unofficial Practice Server slots – 9 (sorry, couldn’t get a big server) Packet rate – 6 (nice and smooth)
Track – Westhill International (WE1) Car – Formula XR (FOX) Laps – N/A (Practice) Rules: No set-in-stone rules, but please follow regular etiquette guidelines. If you crash, please refrain from using Shift-s. Rather, an assistance car will be deployed to aid you back to the pits. This is only to increase realism. Repeated Shift-S usage may result in a ban. All the other usual stuff, such as wrecking will also result in a ban.
All OWRL members who have accepted for the next race are welcome to come. This server will prove as a great venue for practice, collaboration, and PB setting for grid determination. Hope to see you there!
Especially in the open wheel crashes. If you look at any F1 crash videos on YouTube, a graze of the wall (or any minor crash) basically totals the car. Also, parts go flying off the car (perhaps too hard to program for LFS). I think LFS could add to its realism by giving less forgiveness on any kind of crash.
I think the BF1 is the coolest car in LFS considering that it is the fastest, best handling, and is based and designed off a real life car. So why do so few servers use it exclusively? Are we afraid of it or something?
EDIT - Sorry, I'm going to have to cancel the race. Looks like not enough people were interested.
MP Racing Club (www.mpracingclub.netfast.org) will be hosting their first official club race series today, March 2, starting at about 23:45-0:00 GMT. All are welcome. The server stats will be 10-11 max guests (same for in race) with a 6x packet speed. (Note: Depending on how many people want to come, we might be able to use the Co-Re server for the race) See below for race details:
Track: Currently undecided, although most likely an Aston layout or Westhill
Car: Most likely the FOX
Laps: 3-4 if long layout, 5-6 if shorter layout
(I will edit if any of these details are 100% confirmed)
Server name - MP Racing Club Server
Hope to see you there! Any feedback would be appreciated, so just reply or send comments to [email protected]
If you are reading this and want to come, please reply.

you are reading this and want to come, please reply. I don't want to open a server and not have anybody join it!
First off, that's definitely not spam. Spam is ads, things for profit, and my site is not that. Secondly, the league will have a high variation of tracks, and the cars will mainly be the FOX and mid-level road-cars (i.e FXO). The league is not necessarily based on points and hard-core racing. I will be hosting many "open practice" sessions, which I find very fun, and stand-alone races. The league is designed to be a venue for competition, not really a season-like deal. The league will be quite exclusive, as my computer can only host 10 without blowing out the connection. I'd rather it be mostly a place to have fun rather than to have a no-chat, all serious, super competitive racing environment.
In conclusion, I'm saying that the server should be social yet competitive. (compare it to the Redline Racing servers). Mix those two aspects together and you're sure to have a great time.
I'm thinking of creating my own league. I know I'm pretty much a noob (relatively), but I am quite entrepreneur-like and think it would be fun. I've created a website: www.mpracingleague.netfast.org, and have a plan in store for when I have the time. Would you join my league if you could?
I wasn't attempting to suggest that the show would be exactly like Top Gear, I was just comparing it to that. However, Top Gear is the only show who's clips I watched (YouTube FTW ), so I expect that the show will be more like Top Gear than these other shows you speak of.
I will be beginning a great endeavor over these next few weeks: A kind of Top Gear in LFS machinima movie. It won't be the precise style of Top Gear or the voice though , as I've only watched clips of Top Gear and, obviously, can't hire the hosts . If you have any suggestions or could give a cool title for the show, just tell me. Thanks!
How hard is it to fix the bug where you hit a barrier and your car goes unrealistically flying up into the air? C'mon people, it's ruined countless races for me and probably for you too. This needs to be fixed.
How much am I missing by racing with a joystick? In some ways, it's like a wheel because it has dynamic axises (compared with just "full on" or "full of" with a keyboard), but in other ways it's not because there are no pedals, no gearbox. What's your take?
