a little addition, cause that happened to me a few times already, is to double check the file name of the skin.

i understand. i wasn't aware of that. so how about screenshots, then?
team skins only

greetings all,

thought it would be nice to have a collection of only team skins (screenshots). surely there are people who decide which team to join based on the skin ;-)

don't disregard the funk factor!

edit:
added "screenshots" after orion's post

hi cropsy,

select the layer of your banner, then draw a selection box around it. click distort>shear and a popup window will appear. click in the middle of the vertical line and drag it horizontally out of center and watch your banner distort.

i hope i explain that well?

i use buntas 2048x2048 pro kits and just resize to 1024x1024. any better way i'd like to hear myself.

hi tristan,

i'm following your progress and find it quite impressive, actually. and that gets me motivated to start with 3dsmax myself. my question now is, whether there is a free and downloadable version of that software?

thanks in advance for a reply and keep up the good work!

hi dazza,

thanks for the render, i like it :-) one question, though, it seems to me that reslution is rather low. is that possible? i have 800x600 renders that are a lot less pixelated when magnified. anyway, i very much appreciate your effort.

thanks a lot

hi morrow, that was quick :-)

i realised my mistake in the above post, you did a yellow/black fxo (not fxr). actually you put a link:
http://www.kalbri.com/gallery/albums...ack_yellow.jpg
on page 4 is an al heeley render (fox), which i think is fantastic. darkish scenery. i liked your setup on that fxo as well, especially the wheels, very cool stuff.

but i'll leave it up to you, of course. you're the master.

thanks a lot for your efforts.

i already started on a green fox for you. what do you mean "don't need it any more"? shall i continue or not? not that i have nothing to do, really...

hi,

eternal gratitude to the one who can render this one. if i may so bold to ask, i'd like a render something like this (morrow's black and yellow fxr): http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=730&page=5

much appreciated,

no worries, close-ups will do, i'll find the downloads then myself.

i'll give it a go. will take maybe 2 weeks as i'm busy these days. can you post any more close-ups maybe? or related websites? downloading or cutting logos saves much time.

tristan and dave,

good info, thanks. i guess i get the idea. i'll practise braking while on throttle, that sounds quite useful actually. also that 'traction circle' explanation sounds good, that's somthing i noticed already. i often don't brake at all after i figure out that by steering only i bleed off enough speed to make the corner. that way i corner faster with a lot less movement in the car.

thanks again,

roland

hi again,

interesting to hear that not everybody is left foot braking, i always assumed that that was the thing to do. anyway...
what i really try to find out is who is applying throttle and brakes at the same time. if doing that stabilises the car, where and how would you do that? and im not talking about easing off the brakes as one applies throttle to have a smoother transition.
and also i'm not quite sure i understand 'trail braking'. does it only mean that you don't get off the brakes suddenly?
i mostly drive the fxo-gtr, so maybe things are different in rwd cars??

cheers all,

roland

just found out why the car was so bouncy after that chicane in as his.

throttle and brakes
BlueSkunk

hi,

i was wondering if anyone has the habbit of using throttle and brakes at the same time. maybe to stabilise the car in corners??

i haven't tried that yet as i'm busy enough as it is already but when watching some replays i often find it interesting to see that the fast guys seem to very smoothly do corners with sometimes up to 10km/h higher speed (while i'm just managing with squealing wheels). i do try to drive as smoothly as possible but this difference strikes me as quite amazing. supernatural??

any comments?

cheers,

roland
hotlap setups for long distance
BlueSkunk
S2 licensed
hi,

i mostly drive the fxo gtr but since usually every average driver is faster with an xr or fz i'm thinking of changing. also, i only use setups from inferno.

now, from initial experiments i gather that with the fxr it's no real problem doing 10-15 laps with these hotlap sets. the fz is frying tires like nothing else, the xr is somewhere in between, but still not really close enough to 10 laps.

is anyone else using the inferno sets for 10-15lap races? there is a real possibility that it's just my driving. are there any quick fixes to make hotlpsets usable for longer distances? or do i have to start tinkering with setups (something i don't like to do, really)?

thanks for any input,

roland

@ Al,

that render is extremely dramatic! very, very cool!
that dark scene and the color contrasts make the car appear very powerful.
i'm deeply impressed. excellent job.

hi,

that's my skinnerz challenge entry. i'd really appreciate comments and critiscism as i'd like to improve my skins.

thanks a lot

roland

ps: i added a 2nd color option just for fun.

i disagree. i downloaded hotlaps and also races to study. then i practised offline. that has improved my driving more than during 5 lap races online where half the field desintegrates in turn one.
also, i figure, that these short races generally don't draw the more disciplined folk (with exceptions, of course!).

cheers,

hi,

i drive mostly offline (no internet at home) so motivation is an issue. hotlapping is ok at times, but then again i do like some traffic as well.
increasing ai speed would be cool for starters, even with the same bad driving habbits, and probably easier and quicker to do.
bigger starter fields would be nice as well. i don't see a problem with frame rate like with other games.
even if nothing canges i'll stick with it. nothing compares, really.

...and skinning improves my photoshop skills

thanks guys, that's been very helpful.

matrixi, can you post any links, maybe? just found some manufacturers linked on the rsc site, and that's all pricey stuff.

projectors
BlueSkunk

hi,

i've seen some wicked cockpits after doing a bit of research, some of which have incorporated projectors. i'd like to hear some comments from those who have some experience with that and maybe tips about what to look out for when buying one. seems to me it makes more sense to buy a 500 dollar projector rather than a +1500 dollar wheel/pedal set, or am i totally mistaken? and the missus might be more agreeable as well...

thanks a lot,

roland
