so it was within reason to penalize one driver for a violation and not all others for the same violation?

that is a very ineresting way to look at things, indeed.

you make it sound like the rules are used in cases of personal interest rather than a means of establishing a fair playing field for everyone.

and what running out of fuel has to do with this i fail to see entirely.

and i wasn't critizing 'teething problems' as i don't really see any. i'm very happy with this series and the way it's being conducted. i only made a suggestion to support a fellow driver which in my opinion is not an unworthy thing to do.

this series, or any series i suppose, exists because of motivated people participating in it. therefore rules and decisions should always be made with the drivers in mind first.

unecessary arguing?

penalizing a race winner for crossing a yellow line without causing an accident or inhibiting traffic in any way didn't cause any arguments for some obscure reason, giving points to a driver which won't affect anyone should? personally i would like to find out.

well, actually we don't, as noone else was making any requests for it. this here is the same as the case with crossing the yellow line during piting where one driver got a time penalty after a protest, 10 other drivers didn't because there was no protest against those. so, obviously, any claims or protests are only case specific.

"Vote is open for 24 hours after it has been posted and every driver has vote", therefore noone from race 1 can come up with any claim or ptotest now.

if we have to vote for penalties against a driver then why shouldn't we have the possibility to vote for a benefit for a driver also?

hi,

i'd like to vote to give burnout his 2 points for finishing 7th place.

i know he shift+s-pitted in 33rd lap (i think) but if he hadn't 2 cars would have crashed really badly into him. i know what's written in the rules about telepitting but i think this case should receive extra attention:

1. he is overtaking pickard and lsdwolf by 1 point in the overall ranking list, but those 2 guys haven't been racing the last 4/6 races. i assume they have been dropped from the list already since then. therefore burnout dosn't interfere with anyones position anyway.
2. i see his action as very fair and sportsmanslike, giving up his "right" to finish to save 2 other drivers
3. he made a true effort by still finishing his race, compared to those who decided to just disconnect when things didn't run as smoothly as expected. that's what i call good racing spirit.

all this considered i think this special case should be reconsidered.

what do you think?

some suggestions:

1. make sure decals are fitting and not cut off (like the championship decal nad the one underneath the mirrors)
2. consider stretch: you need to shorten decals on the template for them to have real proportions on the car ingame. means the decals on the side, for example, look too wide/stretched otherwise.
3. when you use the viewer check how decal look when they are placed over corners, like in front of the rear wheel, as they get quite distorted there as well.
4. when you paint it (like the red bottom part) make sure the lines connect properly. for example at the rear, next to the borja-sticker.

you can find bunta's pro-kits for skinning (hi res templates in php format) on the master skinnerz site. these are excellent.

overall i think it's a great first skin that just needs a bit tidying up

i think this series and the people that drive in it are fantastic.

given the intensity of the races on those tracks the number of incidents is always way below what i would expect. i think that driver attitude and racing behaviour in general is excellent.

...but, of course, shit happens

hi,

some observations on protest procedure:

the procedure in this series is that drivers are the judges in case of a protest. fine. i got notified of driver x having made a violation in lap z. i shall now watch the replay and speak a verdict. anything from innocent, 30 sec time penalty, starting at the end of the grid next race, etc.

how can i judge a drivers behaviour if i am not told what the complaint is about? "a violation in lap z" is really unprecise. the driver in question can do many things in one lap, being involved in a crash, cutting in front of another driver, being lapped, whatever. which situation is the one to judge? assuming that it is the obvious crash in that lap is still an assumption.

therefore i'd suggest that complaints are stating the actual situation the specific driver was involved in.

any comments?

@ barbosa,

massive apologies for cutting into you. when looking out left i didn't see you. my car was at an angle and somehow i failed too see you. i should have taken more time to make sure.

i'm really sorry.

nice one

but why did you not make it in 1024x1024 or 2048x2048?

if the rules allow certain maneuvers then everyone is entitled to take advantage of them. if the rules presently allow finishing a race in the pits then anyone is obviously entitled to do so.

let's have a moral debate when the next tax declaration is due. as if noone would take advantage of the rules there (and even break some) :-)

personally i would immediately vote for a change of race rules in a way that finishing in the pits results in a penalty of some sort. a race should be finished with someone waving a checkered flag and not a screw driver at me.

hi,

for lfs i get average pings of 140-240 or so. i also live and work in egypt in a somewhat remote location, so that might be a factor. i guess the connections available here are not necessarily the highest quality stuff. i do have a 1024/512 connection, though and the game runs on average 50-60 fps, so no problem there (starts are usually 20ish).

i play bf2 also where i get hardly any server with less than 200ms. and many of those disconnect players with higher than 170-200ms. and then there is the mentioned issue of getting shot by someone with better ping.

still, all in all i find things managable since my main concern is to be able to play lfs

oh, and since it was mentioned to shut down programs that are running in the back, would there be a way for a complete pc nerd (like myself) to do so without causing total mayhem on the machine?

(somehow i guess the answer will be no, but i have to ask all the same)

again, thanks a lot for all replies. very informative.

thanks. is there a possibility to improve the ping without buying a faster connection?

greetings,

i was wondering if anyone could explain to me what ping really is and why a higher ping is bad. also i heard that people with low pings are having an advantage (in shooters, they say) and that is a mystery to me as well.

basically, any info is appreciated. thanks in advance.

Aston Club race - 16. may

great race it was until i lost connection to server in lap 20 or so. very tight pack as well, the whole grid being within 1,5 seconds. heavy stuff

lag question
BlueSkunk
S2 licensed
hi,
when cars in front of me lag, they first simply disappear, then reappear somewhere further. also, and that's the really annoying thing, they somehow go in a direction where the driver isn't really going.
example: the car goes straight, disappears, then reappears somewhere to the right. now this is all unpredictable and sometimes reason for an accident.

is there a way to at least get rid of the false route?

i guess i describe that really shitty, but hopefully someone understands.

thanks for any replies.

x-ter,
i just want to inform you my connection is down at the moment but i hope it will be up and running on the 2nd. but in case your grid gets full don't keep my slot. i'll show up anyways, if everything works out, and see if there's space. until then i practise in sp mode
