Well, you could smash the computer and tv screens with a hammer, but that's probably only a short term solution. I guess you could try music, but some people work with with it, while others don't.

I believe mine probably has been around '94, or something. It was a Compaq, I can't remember the model, but it was a horizontal tower with the screen mounted on top of it (no gap). It probably was on a Sierra game back then, but I couldn't say which. Or maybe on the Incredible Machine!

Some time after we acquired NFS2SE and that was the first racing game I played.

Wow, I was just it would be like 95% no, but it seems most people have done it? No way! I think I stopped after the first few ones when they were first introduced, never to touch them again.

All those screenshots look like they were taken with -1000 anti aliasing. Even the very crappy laptop with no memory at all and a 64mb gpu can take screens better than that

Somebody needs to learn... well, everything, mostly.

e: I think my photoshop just died of shock.

I must agree that after so much delay, it would be lame only to have the Sirocco in the next patch, or even a relatively small patch. I'd definitely expect the rest of the interiors to be done by now, and I hope that they're just waiting for the next patch to be included in the game. I'll just, you know... go back in my burrow and put the alarm for august or something.

Besides, it could be considered an advantage to the devs that demo servers are full of imbeciles (generalization, sorry). It pushes the people who really like the game to buy S2. One could argue that some people will be taken aback by the behavior of demo users, and will thus be reluctant to buy S2, but it's not too hard to find out that people on S2 servers are for the most part more mature. Either they will be told so by people on demo users that actually have the license, or they will come on these forums where they will be told the same.

It's still a very bad idea for those unnamed or judged people to ATTACK ships, take people HOSTAGE and demand RANSOMS! How thick can you be? Seriously, what do they expect? All the corps who own those ships to stop the alleged dumping? Nope, instead, they rightly get called pirates, which they are, and whoever is a pirate nowadays tends to attract NATO ships, which most likely will pwn the crap out of them.

Taking people hostage and attacking ships != convincing people of your good intentions!

Quote from mookie427 :
- Annoying BBC name changes - Mumbai/Bombay and Beijing/Peking

Actually, I think Mumbai is a self proclaimed name, the BBC must just be using the currently good name. I don't think it's right to call it Bombay anymore, in any language. As for Beijing, I thought it was still called Beijing, at least in english. In french, though, it's Pékin. I cannot tell about Peking...

Doesn't it feel a little bit impersonal? I'd rather receive a true and written thanks than having the forum thank me on the behalf of others.

This is actually rather clever. I'm not sure banning it really is a good idea, as it doesn't leave people choice (even if they are gov. agencies/employees), though.

TBH, this is exactly what off topic is for. I think as long as we're not insulting each other or things like that, everything is basically ok here.

Yes, Campbell is pretty good, but I doubt the scores of the first round will mean much come saturday and sunday. They showed the scores of Woods in the first round of the last few Masters and I don't think he's ever been under par after the first day (71 or lower). Yet, his results in the last three years have been 2nd, 2nd and 3rd.

That said, it's true that the scores are much lower in this year's first round. I don't really know why that is, but there are more or less 40 players under even this year, while last year and the year before only had something like 15 each. Maybe the last few years had wind or something in the first round. I guess we'll see tomorrow and in the weekend rounds if the players will keep their scores so low!

Quote from rc10racer :Not sure if this has been said before but you can see what processes are under which svchost.exe, rightclick on any off them then click on Go To Service(s). Don't see the point in all this arguing because if there is ram avalible it will use it but when you use a program which demands alot of ram vista will give it back to the programs which need it most.

Yes, you can just rightclick on svchost.exe in the task manager and click Go To Services(s) to see what's under that instance. However, this only works on Vista.

As for the RAM, considering that the program that uses the most RAM in any Vista based computer is Vista itself, it probably is trying all the time to redirect all the good yummy RAM to itself! Zomg!

I, for one, am not good enough to lose the car. I keep straight all the way!

Quote from 88Reasons :SVCHOST instances are bundled system processes. Ending task on them is NOT a good idea as many of these individual processes have dependencies underneath them. Vista is a big-time resource hog compared to other OSs, due to the fact that each new feature generally adds at least 1 process (with dependencies) to one or more of your SVCHOST instances. If you really want to get to the root (no pun intended) of the problem, then you need to take a look at the individual system processes that make up these SVCHOST instances. You can do this by running services.msc. The list you see is a list of system processes, their current status, their dependencies, and if/how/when they are set to run. Just keep in mind that if you choose to end a process you are also ending all processes that are dependencies. My suggestion is to go to technet.com and look up each of these processes to determine which ones your system can and cannot do without. When in doubt, dont freikin' touch it! I will say that there is one process that you can almost undoubtedly do without, and that is Superfetch. Its a new feature in Vista that is unnecessary and uses quite a bit of your system's resources. I hope this will be of some help to you. Attached is an example of the services.msc list on my machine (XP), but yours should look similar.

Quite true, except that going by the services.msc to see what is controlled and launched by svchost is more annoying than doing it in another program, or in the task manager of Vista. For example, I know that the 'DCOM Server Process Launcher' is a service that uses svchost, but to see that in services.msc, you have to go to the proprieties of the said service, and see that its run path is 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k DcomLaunch'. While this works, you have to do each service one at a time to see which one uses svchost.

Alternatively, if you use a program like Process Explorer, you're able to see the proprieties of the svchost themselves, not the proprieties of each services behind. This allows you to see much faster what's behind a particular svchost, and while some of them only run a single service, you can see the attached image to see how many are running under a single svchost on my computer.

I agree, however, that messing with the services when you don't know what they're doing probably isn't a good idea. At the very least, you need to search on the internet to see what they're there for, but usually if they were started in the first place, there has to be a reason. It's possible that some services were started a while ago by something that you don't use anymore, but it's probably hard to identify which service isn't in use anymore.

Quote from Luke.S :the corvettes have it

Indeed, and I believe most Cadillacs do as well. IIRC, they Cadillacs were the first to have them among the GM cars.

I'm not against it, but it's again one of those things that aren't really useful... one can just look at the actual speedometer. I guess the whole point of that thing is to keep the driver's eye on the road, but since we're racing in LFS, we're already supposed to have our eyes on the road!
