Yeah, I think you are right. A big stretch of road would be quite useless. The idea of a huge oval is more interesting. It could even be considered as a ''race'' track on which you can do some races ( well, I don't believe thoses races would be quite fun... but, anyway ).

Besides, I think there are more important things to know before the top speed of a car. I mean... it could be an interesting statistic, but I'd rather have tire finalized tyre physics than this. Tyre physics are more important to do a good race than... top speed... (who cares about top speed of a car on aston club?? ).

Anyway... that's just an opinion.

The idea is not stupid... it could be fun to know the top speed of each cars, but I agree with Chaos... it's sooo useless to know the top speed of a car; most racetracks don't even allow to go that fast.

Well... this is a good idea, but is it really usefull? I have no knowledge of hacking and kracking in LFS ever. The way the game is unlocked, I don't see how it could be possible. If someone buys a voucher, the server has to give the unlock key and allow it to be used to unlock a version...

Maybe i'm know, tho... anyone knows about kracking in LFS? :faint2: I mean... I don't think it ever happened.

Okay, then I ask this: is it really a good deal to save 5€ on LFS if it takes something like 8 years to be completed? I mean... it's a better deal to pay 5€ more and to have a game in about 1 year than to save 5€ on a game that you just can't know when it will go out.

I bought S2 and I will probably buy S3, but the developpement of that game is pathetic.

Well... actually, LFS isn't cheaper than other games. Other games that are coming out are generally full versions. Theses days, a game costs about 50$ USD when it comes out. Considering that S3 will be the full version of LFS and that each part is 12£, it equals 36£. 36£ is more than 50$ USD... so lfs is more expensive.

It's understandable considering that the devs are living on that game and that they don't have as much customers than another game such as GT4 because it targets a smaller market.

Okay... this is just (O.o) pathetic... I just can't believe some people are complaining like that to get something free. Man... get a job, sell something or just make yourself a whore to make some money. You could also hack some US bank or the FBI to steel a 20bucks, but I wouln't recommend it.

If you drive sensibly then you should be welcome on most hosts. Sometimes, some users vote to ban a bit too quickly because they have had bad experiences in the past. It's unfortunate if one crash got you a ban. Maybe you bumped someone who was in a bad mood.

I cleaned up the old drivers, got new ones and I now get from 20 fps to 60. It's a bit better, but I think it could be even higher...

I tried to install it another clean directory but it doesn't affect the fps. The vertex shading was already on. I'll try to look for a process or something. I upgraded to the lastest drivers, for the mobo and the gfx, but it stills the same.

Okay, done it... the results are pretty pathetic. Here they are:

Min: Frames: 4642 - Time: 103485ms - Avg: 44.856 - Min: 29 - Max: 61

Max: Frames: 1548 - Time: 103406ms - Avg: 14.970 - Min: 9 - Max: 23

Slower car doesn't mean closer racing. It's all about racing times. If you get on a server where there are 6 XRRs that are all running the same time as you, there is a possibility that you'll get close, clean racing.

Obviously, closer racing with slower cars is more easy, because the times are more constant and more close from each other. For example, if you run 1.41 with the uf1 on bl1, there are alot of chances that the other times on a server will be around 1.42, 1.43 and 1.44. Besides, if you run 1.09.00 with the FOX, I can bet alot that times will go up to 1.14 or 1.15, which is obviously not good for close racing.

This is why racing in leagues, with pools is nice, you qualify on a server where people are around your times, which is a good way to get close racing.

Hi folks, I've been running lfs on a couple of computers since I play. The first one was crap, the second one was average and the one that I have now is technically good, but I wonder if things all are set the the correct things.

Here's the thing: I get about 50 fps max and 15 fps at the start of a 16 car race (in the back) with that configuration:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1024MB RAM DDR
NF4 PCIe socket 939 mobo
PowerColor ATI Radeon X700 series 256MB
Two hard disk, one 40gb and the other 80 (I think they both run 5200rpm)

So... it's not so bad. I've read a couple of thread in this forum where people say they have 40 fps all the time with 2.2 ghz computers and 128MB video cards.

I don't know... maybe my LFS options are set not OK, but I think it's pretty good. I know LFS requires a good CPU more than a good Vidcard, but I think athlon 64 3000+ isn't that bad... right?

Actually, the anti-aliasing settings are set to 2x performance.

Anyway... if you guys could just help me clear this out... I don't even know if it's a problem or if the computer can't do anything better than this.

There might be something wrong (or it's just me). I had to reinstall a couple of things that caused my lfs to be locked. Obviously, I tried to unlock it but when I type my password and my username and then click on 'unlock' it says unknown command

I think the French button is wrong to. It's spelled 'Français'. There's quite a big problem in there

Nope... reinstalling the patch didn't work. I extract all of the files to... i'm not that stupid.

I know that other people got that error to... it must come from the lfs somewhere... with specific PC parameters.

Hi! Something just came up when I ''upgraded'' to patch P4. I had P2 and everything was working well, but after installing P4, LFS crashes at the start and shows message ''Could not load font''. I tought this was about the patch for sure, because it was working well before I installed it and this patch is mostly about language or font things... Any idea of what is the problem? (don't ask me my PC spec illepall)
