Quote from CrAZySkyPimp :Roland, I suggest you stay off iRacing for the upcoming week

Well, away from official races unless you have a) practised and b) qualified decently. You can gain decent SR and iRating if you stay out of trouble by qualifying up front and staying out of trouble, or if you don't race, 30m quali sessions are useful for SR. But yeah, maybe stick to the unofficial series this week.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :Glacier's anniversary races were the best ones I've ever seen in simracing. Quality driving, quality stream, great fights. It was great to see so much familiar names, even battling with each other. That Evan guy was killin' it, was awesome to watch him going through the field.

I tried my best to hold them off in race 2

You can now play with a mouse or touch screen in the actual version.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :By the way, raping my SR is the only way to go back to B license from A? I've had some Star Mazda races where I got crashed out like 4/5 races. 1 was actually my fault, missed a braking point. Maybe I should've given up after the 1st DSQ, everyone wants to win in the first lap, lapped cars are fighting with me and accidentally raping me after they got bored enough.

Why I'm asking? Now that both my SR and iRating is ridiculous, I want to demote myself from A to B. I don't even race the F1 because I suck at it, B would be more than enough for me. So IIRC, if I go below 1.00 I automatically get demoted to B what, 2.00? Are there any more disadvantages, like exclusions from races or anything?

If you got to A 0.xx then you would be automatically demoted to B 1.xx, and if you were still B 1.xx at the end of week 13 you would then be demoted to C 2.xx.

But your post displays a fundamental misunderstanding of the SR system. It is based on corners per incident for the past xx corners (can't remember if it's 1600 or 2000), so if you lose your B licence because you've been getting lots of incidents, as soon as you become a cleaner driver your SR will go back up again. And assuming you've met your MPR, you will be promoted back to class A again. So in other words, shut up and drive, only worry about your SR if you're close to getting demoted or you want to be promoted.

Quote from IsaacPrice :It's not the same thing anyway. For iRacing its a much bigger deal to make it an automated system and not screw the stats. LFS doesn't actually do that properly atm, you often see the race results on the lfsw site look weird after a driver swap, it doesnt function 100% correctly.

Looks fine to me, do you have an example? Though of course, iRacing is one step ahead of LFS in that you can rejoin and it'll remember the laps you've done.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :iR still sucks, god I already regret spending so much money on it. Then I ragequitted because of that stupid SR system... I did quite a few races without any mistakes, my SR increased nicely. Then in 1 race some tard raped almost the whole field and my SR dropped back to where it was at the beginning. No more bullshit, thanks. It's not fun when you work hard on something and it's ruined in a few seconds.

Oh yeah because you got a 4x at the start it meant you lost your class A licence and you couldn't drive in a class B series anymore? The great thing is we can all see your stats, and see you got 12 incidents in your last race, most of which came from you going off track or losing control.

But if your biggest complaint is with the SR system, then iRacing can't be that bad. For christ sake I have over 7 inc/race this year, yet I still have a B 3.0 licence

Quote from Tony Gardner :
Here is the update on Teams.

Unfortunately not much coming in this end of January build in regard to Teams. We were able to take out the 1 or 2 second lag for spotters so now, no lag between spotter and driver if spotting for a driver, real-time in other words. Also did some other spotter clean-up.

Right now still working on crew chief portion but will not be in build but guessing/hoping will be in April build. That should be the next piece. Right now we can actually swap drivers and have that working but so much else to deal with like how it all it works in the pits, race control, how to handle the data, the webside and reporting aspects, creating the teams, team web pages and rules engineered around that, official versus hosted, and on and on so still a ways to go. Those things all in different stages but hopeful the whole team project is completed this year but again will be in stages.

Thanks for your patience. It just turned out to be much bigger and more work than we expected but should be awesome and very unique when ae are done.

In response to someone talking about lack of dynamics in iRacing
Quote from Tony Gardner :FYI, Ryan, we really want to add many more dynamics to iRacing. No two races are the same or look the same and strategy and dealing wth things becoming more important just like the real world. Going to take time however. Working on it.

I would like to ask a few questions to those who were disqualified (and even those who were not):
  1. Did you know about the forum post by deko in post #2 of this thread before pre-qualifying started?
  2. Did you know about the section in sporting code prohibiting wrong way driving?
  3. Was this information included in the pre-qualifying PM?
  4. Did you do all of your pre-qualifying outlaps via the pit entry?
  5. Did you notice others doing it in the server?
  6. If half of the field decided to ignore SC procedures in a race (and say, overtake before the s/f line), should they be penalised?

Quote from PMD9409 :Edit: Youtube Video (1080p), and yes, epic DOF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... on5g&feature=youtu.be

That video annoyed the hell out of me as the focal point was on the rumble strip on the exit and not on the apex of the corner.

What equipment were you using (what camera gives you that kind of resolution :shrug?

Quote from maxispeed :And then that "yellow flag ignoring"... yes i didn´t immediately drive turtle speed when i saw "yellow flag" but "unsafe driving..." I just dont get what i there did wrong but hopefully you others know, dont care a shit 15 grid penalty... Heh, give me a brake.

In case you were unaware of why you were given the penalty for ignoring yellow flags, here's a couple of pictures.

No one said anything about turtle speed, but when you have no one behind you, do you not think it would be a good idea to slow down instead of crashing into people and causing a red flag?

Of course, if you have a problem with the decision, you have 48 hours to appeal it.

Quote from Dennis93 :Another nascar thread(????), or is this general best race/s?

A general one, it's just that you can't expect rednecks to know much about non-American motorsport.

http://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2012/12/race-of-the-year/ has a few good ones, and http://youtu.be/IFRLvnCoBpU has all of this year's crashes
  1. Scottish Mini Cooper Cup round 18 action packed race
  2. Blancpain Endurance Series round 5 lots of cars, couple of crashes and a great lead battle
  3. ALMS Road America finish no explanation required
Honourable mention for the British GT race at Brands Hatch with its epic finish, can't find any footage of it on youtube, you can get it from RFM though.

F1 was also excellent this year, WEC, BTCC were good in patches, looking forward to 2013!

Another Christmas quiz this year http://www.autosport.com/christmas/quiz2012/

Quote :You scored 23/50 (46.00%).

F1 only: 6/12 (50.00%).

Non-F1: 17/38 (44.74%).

That's not too bad. Most fans did as well as you...

Road America is a great track to have, and then you have to look at what cars/series you're going to be running and get something that's used in a lots of them - e.g. Silverstone, Mosport, Mid Ohio, Zandvoort, etc.
