Almost all of the drift angle meters(not to say really all of them) are the same and I'm pretty sure he can't think of the way to make it(no offence) so that's why I'm saying it.
It would be easiest and the fastest way imo, since he won't have to contact and conform with other people's free time.. Just copy it out, get it to work in his own insim(of course) and do all the other stuff he wants to.
Like I've said and I can confirm it again - it is possible. I can guarantee on 100% that you can do this.
What I suggest is get lapper - steal it's drift angle meter(it doesn't matter where you steal it from or who gives you the function it's all the same), think of your own way to calculate points(when you already know the angle) and then just make a function that counts the points while you are moving from pos A to B. It's not something hard to do but I dare not say it's easy either.
Just think logically and try to understand the code and you will have great success - I can guarantee this too.
But I'd also like to use this thread to suggest something (not exactly on topic but I believe it does fit here) - We all know how 2 demo users can "take over" a host that has kick/ban voting enabled.
I say why not disable these buttons for the demo users to S2 users(like they are disabled for the admins).. or easily said - don't allow demo users to vote kick/ban S2 licensed users, because it is pretty annoying to join a server and get banned by 2 demo users that are there just for that(it happens rly rare to me, because I rarely go in demo servers but that's one of the reasons I stopped joining them).
This is not the only case. I remember once(I was still demo tho) I entered a rally cross host (it was my 1st time) and was just about to join the game when one guy maybe decided that he doesn't like me or idk and voted to ban me spamming "Ban this crasher", when of course I was banned which was a bit annoying rly, but what is worse - at these times you can get banned in a demo host if the guys there find out that you are S2 licensed(happened to me once). Don't know for what other silly reason you can get banned in demo servers but I do believe there are more than those.
Also disallowing the demo users to vote kick/ban S2 licensed will give them one more stimulus to buy S2(they will see that S2 license saves you a lot of unnecessary arguing). So the idea suggested by the OP combined with this one will help demo users see that S2 is really worth the money(if you can call 24pounds money since it's almost nothing for what you get in return).
E: Just thought of something more: Disallow the demo users to write in the meeting room when there are S2 users since recently there is a new mode amongst them - Write "XXX - I f****d your mother". I can attach uncensored screenshots of this if you want. But I do believe that demo users need to be juust a bit more restricted on the side of the functions they can use in lfs.
E2: Sorry to all mature and thinking demo users, I know it's not all of them who are acting this bad. There are some really cool people. Too bad there are such idiots that download LFS just to noob around.
E3: Or maybe add a kick/ban vote in the meeting room. xD
E4: Did I qualify for the "Most edits in a post" contest? :P
Bad luck. But still I'd give you a little hint - Don't send your insim to random guys that you don't know. Don't even send it to guys that you know but are not at least 97%(dunno how I calculated that) sure you can trust them.
Yep.. Posting even a pic of a layout here is a mistake. Most of the people have no respect for nothing, so we will keep them private. Might make a private servers and invite only people we know but can't promise anything.
It's not what I wanted to say. And I don't really know how exactly to explain it so better leave it.
Aand just to answer your question: No I don't think you have to be smart or something to open the description (but if we have to go in details: you still need to have a brain to do it :P).
Just wanted to tell you that there is a cool layout on a cool server. There I said it.. Bye.
Ohhh you will want a screenie.
There:
Sorry about the dual monitor image(blame Ales_M - he took the screenshot - And thanks to me now the message is readable :P)
I guess now you want a server name... Jeez... ok.. there you go: -OsT- Bridge Ride
This layout was made by Ales_M and me.
We got soo inspired from Arox123's ideas we couldn't sleep for 2 weeks to learn how to place these objects there(Of course I am lying atm just to make the story cooler so you guys join my empty server - it was actually 2 days and not even full ones and ummm.. we did sleep.. lol but we have cookies anyway so join us).
Ok what more do you want me to say? Oh I bet you will ask how we placed those stuff there... I forgot :P
If you want to check it out join the server. If you want you can save the layout but you can not use it online in your server unless you had our permission(but if you don't respect our work and the fact that we are lfs drivers - just like you then that's too bad for both sides).
Thanks for reading my long and annoying thread. Hope the effort you put when you read this is worth it when you join the server.
Not really... Most of the guys that play demo don't know it. And mentioning it in the forums makes it easier for everybody to see and then one day you can say this "Everybody knows that" because right now it's getting more and more popular. It's true if you search google a little you will find out such thing exists but ummm... This here are the official forums
And no It's not all about hating demoers. It's about all of them being too wise and posting stuff that often offend S2 users(if you browse the forums a bit more you will find tons of such posts) or posting such stuff that are total nonsense but yeah some demo users are not like that but the ones that are smarter don't really want to post in the forums and get in useless fights(I'm saying this because I have spoken to such people).
Oh and btw: The reason PoVo said is what I thought he(KuHS) needs it for too. And saying he knows him I presume he knows his attentions and then again - why help him when it's almost sure he is going to use it against the devs. If he wants it so much he can stop finding excuses like " im not a pro coder but a learner" and start thinking and coding. I'm not a pro coder but a learner too. I know less than 5% of C#'s capabilities or maybe even less than 2% but when I need something I usually look in google and/or test possible ways myself.
E: lol i forgot this message unposted for like an hour and seems ive missed a lot. sry if its kinda innacurate :P
It's what I didn't want to metion -.-
Do you have to tell everyone that such thing really exists(because most of the ppl(i mean demoers) don't really know)
1st - get a server
2nd - get C# 2008 Express
3rd - get the open source insim
4th - get your lazy hands writing something more than just requests
5th - get yourself a nice cruise insim after some nice(well ok... maybe more boring than fun) time of coding.
6th - enjoy it
aaand 7th - stop imagining that someone will make all this for you for nothing in return
I imagine it in two ways but I will say only one of them as the second is not something everyone has to know.
You have an account and a brother/sister. Your brother/sister comes on the PC, runs LFS, goes in to this cruise server and starts ramming. In this case if the insim has a login system something can be done so people can maybe vote to kick the player if he is not logged in or the cop rights on the person can be disabled at the time, etc...
2nd way is for really stupid, dumb and idiotistic(if there is such a word xD) people and I won't even say it as it would bring just more chaos in the forums and in LFS as all. =/
Like I've always said: Get the open source cruise, get C# 2008 Express Edition, get your hands on the keyboard, get your brain running and then - get your code working for you.
Imo the registration has to be made in the LFS itself instead of in a site. Then add some code to detect the HD serial number.. afaik it changes only when you format your HD, but there could be programs for that.. anyway it will keep a lot of the people from doing multiple accounts, since it's not really worth changing your HD serial number every time you make a new account. I have really seen a source code for getting the serial number of all the HD drives you have, and it was really working.
I'm sure you can get some information of the PC that would be even harder to change than the HD serial number.
Wouldn't work for remote insims. Anyway on local PC it is possible but it's also possible to read the wrong IP because the only time you can trigger the insim is on the message "New guest is connecting" and if there is a queue of people waiting to join and by some chance they all have strong internet connections the insim might get lost in the IP addresses.
Anyway maybe this can be avoided too but you can never make it in a way that you can be 100% sure in it.
It's delivered like a message already. I don't know how the dedi works exactly but I do think that the connection messages can be included in the MSO packet. Just the UCID has to be something like -1 and there you go. On the message "Connect: XX.XX.XX.XX" you get it in a string[] and on new connection you make something like:
int yourint = 0;
while (yourstring[].length >= yourint)
{
yourint += 1;
TheConnection.IP = yourstring[yourint];
yourstring[yourint] = yourstring[yourint+1];
}
...That way you will save yourself the reading of a long text file and getting it's last messages and so on(you get what I mean).
If I have to say it with simple words: I want to be able to get the IP of the user with just those 7 lines of code(even less if we don't count the brackets) instead of making an endless and unstable function(which I won't make anyway but that's another question).
And still: I do believe that this isn't as necessary as some other stuff that has to be done with LFS.
Aaaand just in case you are wondering: Yes I was a bit bored and had free time to make this post.
Interesting. I haven't looked at it that way. Just to answer your question: I have a regular HD. Plus my PC is a bit old so LFS with high resolution textures and with a lot of skins to download (AND if we add the fact that I'm mostly using the browser or a chat convo while LFS is connecting which takes more from my slow PC's memory) is probably something not very easy for my it(the PC) to accomplish. And yes, usually from the 2nd time I manage to connect but some times I lose connection to the host(usually when I minimize LFS and when LFS is on focus happens too but very rarely) and then it works from the 3rd time. I don't remember a case when connecting from the 3rd time has failed for me.
But taking one more thing in mind: If I have loaded the high res textures and join a host on the same track the chance for me to get "Did not receive track info" is a lot lower(unless of course the host has shut down while I have been connecting lol).
Most of them but not all. And they(the IPs) usually change every day(unless some one has nothing better to do from annoying the server admins with restarting his modem just to change his ip and go for some more """fun""") or on some even more rarely. And anyway there still are people with static IPs.
