Quote from Aquilifer :I tested it too (W39). However i found one interesting 'feature' in it. Not sure if this is intentional...

The positions change even when the race is over. I tryed with few AIs and after the race I moved my car ahead and behind the AI cars and my and AI positions changed respectively.

That is confirmed, MCI packets keep arriving even after all cars have finished, which mess up positions and IMO doesnt make sense since from the point the race is over, tracking should be over too. It can be dealt with by 'locking' the position of each car after their corresponding IS_RES arrives, but a better solution would be that LFS stopped sending MCIs after all cars have finished.

W37 tested, positions byte works like a charm

For future patches (Y?), however, it might be a good idea to add this byte as well to the NodeLap struct as someone already pointed out.

Quote from Scawen :
OK, There were spare bytes in the CompCar structures so I've put the race position in there. That will be in W37.

Thats awesome Scawen, thanks a lot.

One suggestion: would it be possible to include the race position of the car in the NLP/MCI packets?

Getting position in NLP/MCI

Right now we are able to know at any given moment in which lap any car is and in which node. Adding some stuff it is possible to get the standings of a race playing with those values.

But wouldnt it be MUCH easier if we got the value for the position of each car in every race tracking packet? Yeah it can be calculated but it would make things much simpler if 5 bits of the NLP or MCI packet were for the position of the car.

Unless I'm missing a better way of getting standings than comparing laps and nodes each cycle...which isnt even accurate when more than one car is in the same node.

Typo: IS_BTT size is 68 according to documentation but it should be 104 (4 bytes header + 4 bytes properties + 96 chars of text).

Thanks fel, that will surely do the trick

I have another question: if several players can be bound to one connection (when adding AI), what would be the UCID of these AI drivers if the connection that created them leaves?

Is there any way to make the LFS window stay on top, even when it doesnt have focus?

Maybe some kind of command line parameter so an option doesnt need to be added in any menu.

If its not asking too much, it would make testing much easier for me.

Compcar is a struct, which means its composed of several other types. To retrieve it from the byte array, you would need to read the proper amount of bytes and then access each element.

A way of doing it using C# would be:

_info = new CompCar[_numC];
Array.Copy(_buffer, 4, _info, 0, _numC * 28);

_numC is the number of valid CompCar structs. Array.Copy just copies the origin array starting in the specified index (4 in this case) to the start of the destination array (_info), the number of bytes _numC * 28, being 28 the size of a CompCar struct.

After doing this you have a nice array of CompCars that can be accessed individually.

Dont know if I helped or I confused you even more

Never in my life I thought I'd see a post about Getafe in a racing sim forum but after their epic match against Barcelona (4-0) its a well deserved post.

Congrats!!

F1 has been on TV in Spain forever, and of course the channel is making big business out of it, would be stupid not to take advantage of Alonso's sweet moment.

BTW looking forward to seeing all of you here in 2008

Reading this thread I believe the best solution would be customizable minimap colours.

+1000. If we could control AI cars through InSim we programming geeks could have a lot of fun having 'robot' tournaments, plus if behaviour could be packed in some kind of .AI file, all the offline players (there must be some out there) would be happy too.

Controllable AI through InSim would rock.

Cant really check it at work but I can say I had the 'demo' that was released some time ago and I was really looking forward to this release.

Useful feedback coming later

I think Scawen was replying to [RCG]Boosted, faster.

Check if your AV is blocking LFS, it happens to me that it detects a modified exe and the pop up asking for permission remains behind LFS, so it *looks* like the computer crashed.

Quote from speedykev :LFS is not growing fast enough to have that kind of interest.
LFS is the better sim but lets face it rFactor is taking over.

So far, yes. And I'm noticing Im not the only one losing interest in LFS due to slow development.
