I have the MOMO racing. It's a great wheel but I personally have nothing to compare it to myself. G25 I played a little bit at a store in some stupid arcade game. It felt solid as well.

Wish I had more to offer than this...

Don't get angry at the guy. Perhaps he prefers the MOMO. But really should double check his stuff though in the FF setting department.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :One of the people I'm going to visit goes there pretty much every year so she is going to be my "tour guide" I'm more interested in going to Banff.

Well Stampede is ok but it is REALLY overpriced if you are going for rides and such. Go for the Rodeo and Chuckwagons and fireworks and grandstand show!

But make sure you are in good seats or you will not enjoy it. Really. The extra for the better seats is worth it.

But ya the rides and games on the midway are a waste of money these days.

Wow!

5 Western Canadians that I can see. 3 from Calgary! Me, Evilgeek and BBT.

2 From British Columbia.

If something does come of this Canadian slanted league... I hope consessions are made for the westerners.

I know I am a rookie here. But this seems quite simple.

IMHO... You cannot implement FORCED SETUPS unless you implement FORCED CONTROLLERS.

For example. You must own a Logitech MOMO. Everyone must have that wheel and peddal combo. No mice, no keyboards, no alternate brands of wheels.

Then once everyone is on the same controller you can go to same set racing.

It's only logical.

Some sets are better for certain controllers.

At least that is the way I have come to understand it.

Oh and Merry Christmas everyone.

Quote from Knight_Atack :Well, first of all... This was a survey. Second of all, the LOTA hasn't organized anything in my interest, and this isn't an open cup either. It's not for "to be organized by Canadians", but "for Canadians". And you don't even know what my idea is, so how can you say I am reinventing the wheel? Anyways, it shows that Canadians aren't very interested in a Canadian/national league and stuff...

Well alot of people are on holidays aways from their racing wheels making December 20ish a bad time to post a thread that deserves much responses.

I would be VERY interrested in Canadian content but can't give it much thought until after that FAT MAN IN RED has come and gone. Family first.

One thing I can point out having done other online projects. When discussing on line anything...

We should split the drivers by TIME ZONE and not country. Western North America (GMT) or Eastern North America (EST) works out better because people will be on the same time.

As with ANY on line stuff though. Western North America (GMT) seems to have less people doing this stuff for whatever reason. I get on at 9:00 PM GMT (11:00 PM EST) and almost no one is on. This was the case with ALL on line things I have done.

Anyway, I would love Canadian Stuff. Chops has been alot of fun since I started racing. The Sunday Cups are a hoot it seems if not a little early in the day for me. But that's the way of things.

Quote from George Kuyumji :I have 3 Pedals but not the G25, its alot of fun with the H Gate Shifter but due to the workings under braking and occasional misshifts it is of course slower than 2 Pedals and F1-Shifting.

Using driving Aids like Automatic Clutch or Tip Tronic Shifting on some cars should slow you down quite alot more, so that driving Aids are not faster then driving in Simulation Mode. Hopefully future Updates will include a slight disadvantage for the cars using driving aids for the sake of fairness.

Or at least make them the same.

Not everyone can or wants to buy a full fledged setup with a third peddal and shifter.

One should not be forced to use even a wheel actually. Maybe that is financially out of reach?

But I guess making them the same would be a difficult task in either case?

Quote from nihil :I'm *cough* a little older.... (and I won't bother listing the scars )... You're an IT guy, so I'm probably preaching to the converted, but on a long session its easy to forget you're not really looking into the distance at all. Just taking your eyes off the screen and letting them refocus on something outside the window every fifteen minutes can do a lot to relieve, not just eye strain, but any tension in your body.

Haha.

Ya eye strain is the other problem when you focus soo hard on the turns and distance to opponents and speed.

Plays tricks on your mind and eyes for sure. In that regard, this simulation can be dangerous.

Quote from Woz :Im 39...

Knees, ankles, body shot from history of skateboard, snowboard, mountain bikes etc etc. Now run G25 so clutch and H pattern but run DFP, Actlab pro pedals and H pattern before so have thrashed my joints a bit for years now.
I get pains in joints and muscles after prolonged session, mostly right ankle and left calf. It is your body shouting "ENOUGH" happens to us all. I normally burn through it for a while then call a night.

I do wonder if I mounted the pedals from the G25 in a more natural position so top mount or more angled with bottom mount it would help.

I don't feel alone now. Old guys FTW!

Quote from Infiniti :I swim 4 hours a day (530am to 7am; 330pm to 6pm) on top of school, and it's not just laps it's a pretty tough workout set for the varsity team I'm on.
Usually doens't cause problems, but my chair is extremely comfy and I'm guilty of falling asleep in it a couple times. But yes posture while racing for a long time is key, and taking breaks ie(bathroom, food, social life?) course I'm 17 so I'm still nimble.

I was a hard core competative swimmer in my day and I have one piece of advice.

Don't stop swimming! (probably goes for all sports)

When you get in your 30's, it's so hard to get back into shape if you have left it for a decade to sit at a desk. Hahahaha.

Quote from mrodgers :Calves and ankles hurt? You need to at least build some sort of angled platform for the pedals so they are not straight down on the floor. Lift the pedals up so your legs are stretched out in front of you more. The angle will help also with your "pedal posture".

I've been racing with a wheel for 10 years. Ever since I got my first wheel/pedal set, I built a simple platform. All it is, is a piece of OSB with a 2x4 nailed in the front and I think a 2x6 nailed in the back. I'd like to add to the back to raise the angle some more, but never had.

Oh yea, all I'm sitting in is a 10 year old swivel office chair. It really does need replaced as the cushion for my tushion isn't as cushiony any more. I think I'm fixing that (especially this time of year) with putting more cushion on my actual tushion, hehe.

I have raced at my brother-in-law's place before. He has a laptop and the wheel mounted on a TV dinner table and sits in a simple folding chair. Very very uncomfortable.

I need to look into a raised peddal platform myself. That is a fantastic idea! thanks.

""I have raced at my brother-in-law's place before. He has a laptop and the wheel mounted on a TV dinner table and sits in a simple folding chair. Very very uncomfortable"""

OMG I feel better already!!! Heh. That sounds terrible!

Good news is I told my wife I aint giving up gaming/racing so if she does not want an old man walking around hunched over with 1 hand on his hip bitching about pain? Well I need a new chair.

It's all comming together now. Chairs I have been looking at can be locked in various semi-reclined position like in formula race cars and I can build a large angled block to go under the desk that the Peddal platform can sit on to give my legs and feet the right angles.

But there is only one major problem with all that. Would I ever leave LFS to live?

Haha.

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :I get the same crap, I'm only 28

I ran full manual (clutch & H shifter) for the 60 laps XFG "cadet classic" on Sunday... and my clutch foot was KILLING me after. My calves cramp something aweful , esp the right leg. Then my ass hurts, and I get muscle pains in my chest after a long time.... Yikes, perhaps I am too tense when racing :sadbanana\

edit: 284 pounds? :jawdrop:

Perhaps it's our altitude?

Ya I get pretty tense too. I only had to do 50 laps of City Classic on Sunday and my right calv was killing me as well. I can't imagine the race you had to do.

I think I will try a muscle relaxant next big race.

Wheel and Peddal RSI !?!?!!?

Please no smart ass comments from the 19 yo's hahahaha... We were all indestructable once.

I am a 37 year old IT guy. But I do swim 3 nights a week 40 laps. Not an athlete but not a human Durito bag either.

RSI = Repetative Strain Injury right? Anyway...

I have a Logitech rAcing MOMO FF wheel and peddals. Have had them for about a year.

Anyway, never really had that much of a problem with health and comfort when gaming. I used to play here and there with GT Legends and GTR2 with this wheel. But ussually less than 2 hours at a time.

Then I gots LFS.

Now that I am driving 2+ hours a day (well at night b4 bed) and sometimes more, I am starting to get lower back and hip pain, some discomfort in my gas foot ankle as well. Front of the ankl where the foot joins the leg.

Now I have started to do stretches and such and it is helping a little. Might have to get a better chair? It's just an el cheapo office swivel chair.

Anyone else with a simular experience and solutions/comments?

Well thank you everyone.

Great help as usual!

And no. If I am not meant to decipher the SETUPS from the test drive, I will not.

The first thing that makes me drop an online game is cheating.

Cheating is 100% why I gave up Diablo II, CS, DOD and Dark Age of Camelot. They were all great online games with great communities and people but when it becomes a matter of "the best l33t haxor winzors or pwns joo" I leave for good.

So no need to worry there.

Lastly..

Can a person watch replays at work without the game installed?

Or would I need to install the game. Tee hee..

I only got to try this for the first time this morning with my coffee and it was really interrestnig to play with someone elses HOTLAP. Sadly, I had to leave for work with my head full fo questions!!

I watched a HOTLAP replay I downloaded from my LFS Desktop. The driver got a 1 minute kind of time with the FOX @ AS Club. I wanted to watch it because I cannot get below 1:02 no matter what.

Anyway, I learned alot from his lines in a coupla corners. But now here are my questions...

#1. Why do I hear that quick little red line rev before each gear change? I noticed this in other replays too. I see it in their tach as well. It's like RPM is building in current gear, they go to change to the next gear and it's like a "whup whup" sound in the rev and the needle jumps briefly to redline and then they are in the next gear. What is that and why are they setup to do that? Also, is there a reason why NOT to do it?

#2. I have the option to take over their car via TEST DRIVE. So that's THEIR car and THEIR setup I am using? What if I want to keep that set? Can I?

Thanks.

What the hell is wrong with me. I have only had the game a week. I only do quick pickup races on public servers and some solo practice and here I find myself daydreaming about car setups and crap when I should be friggan working! OMG!! Hahahaha.

I am 37 friggan years old! I should not be sitting here thinking and planning about being faster in the last turn at Aston Club!!!!

Jeevus! Does it get worse!?

Hahahaha.

You know. I have never considered watching my car from another cars cabin like that. That could be fun all by itself!

Gonna save replays like that more often and look at them later cause I am dieing to see what I did to wreck them accidentally when I though I was sticking to my line and so on.

Quote from nihil :No, they are just slower... How much more predictable do you need them to be? And its your car, your responsibility to guide it safely through an overtake. By spamming early you're just adding pressure to ensure the slower driver meets your expectations of unpredictability. Its called "passing the blame".

Sorry, this thread should be allowed to die, because its one of those "I'm entrenched" type of arguments....

But... come on... its irresistable. Vent here and then you won't need to spam on track!
